We had songs by Flow, Angela, Claris, SpyAir, Mizuki Nana (twice) and motherfucking Kotoko yet none of them were the best of the season.

I also liked Hanaori's ED. Nigejozu's OP is also pretty good along with the switcheroo they did for it. I also liked the ED too, it made me feel nostalgic like it was an ED from an older anime.

今回の無職転生は、ファンが求めてるのは原作どおりの1:1アニメ化じゃなくて、期待に応えてくれるアニメ化なんだってことのいい見本。それをこの回は見事にやってのけた。

This episode of Mushoku Tensei is an example of how fans don't want a 1:1 adaptation, but rather one that meets their expectations, something this episode does masterfully.

2クール目のどこかに、俺が原作を読んでて「ここから先のラノベを全部注文したのに、届くのが待ちきれなくて残りを一晩で読み切った」地点がある。
無職転生は俺をクビにした数少ない作品のひとつ。寝ないで読み続けて、そのまま出勤したからな。もうひとつはHUNTER×HUNTERだけど、あっちは休載明けは読むしかないってだけ。

At some point in Cour2 will be the point i literally read, ordered every single LN past this, and then couldn't wait for them to arrive and read the entire rest of the series in a night.
MT one of the rare series that got me fired, because I didnt sleep until i got to work. HxH is the other, but that one is more because when it comes out of hiatus you gotta read.

作者が言ってたのは、老デウスに人生を語らせてから日記を見せるっていう順番のことだと思う。そこはラノベもアニメも同じ。逆じゃなくてね。
スレ主が言ってるのは、アニメが日記の中身をそのまま映像で見せたこと。ラノベだと、読みながらのルディの心の声が合間に挟まってた。これ自体が改変なんだけど、俺はこっちのほうがうまくいってたと思う。

I am pretty sure the author was talking about having Oldeus narrate his life and then show the diary, which is what happened in both the LN and anime. As opposed to the reverse.
However, what OP is referring to is how the anime just portrayed the story of the diary straight up as it is, while the LN intercut with Rudy's thoughts of what he was reading. This is in itself a change, but one that I think worked better.

まるでライトノベルとアニメは別の媒体で、それぞれに合ったやり方が要るみたいじゃないか。
スタジオバインドもWHITE FOXも完璧にやってるし、個人的には原作より良くしてると思う。

It's almost of Light Novels and Anime are different Mediums that require each their own Approach.
Studio Bind and White Fox both are doing it perfectly and improve on the source material IMHO

原作勢が1:1のアニメ化を求める気持ちが昔から分からない。フリーレンみたいに漫画を全部アニメにしてる作品でも、アニメという媒体を見事に活かしてる。ただ、あれはほんとにめったに無い例だ。
本を1:1でやるべきじゃない。本を読む体験とアニメ（というか映像作品全般）を見る体験はまるで違う。同じ体験になるはずがない。
本のモノローグの量は、周りの景色が動いて見える媒体には絶対に合わない。

I never understood of source readers in general to have a 1:1 adaptation. While technically a series like Frieren does adapt everything from the manga it does so utilizing the anime medium beautifully. But that is a very very rare case.
Book mediums should never be 1:1. How you experience reading a book vs. watching anime (or any show) is so different. You aren't bound to have the same experience.
The amount of monologues in a book will never be the best fit in a medium where you can see the surroundings in motion.

It has the 7th highest count of all-time among the discussion threads, and the highest if you exclude AoT. Here’s a link to the sorted threads. Could its finale top this?
Meanwhile, Love Unseen Beneath the Clear Night Sky finally broke into the Top 10 after that masterclass of a finale. It tore me up real bad. I say it’s one of the greatest finales among the shows I’ve seen this year. A well-deserved result.

最終話がこれを超えるのはさすがに無理だろうけど、13話の勢いで14話はいつもより高いカルマになるはず。
この合計を超えるいちばんの可能性は、来年の無職転生3期の後半だと思う。
それでもダメなら、2027年秋のフリーレン3期まで待つことになりそう。

Finale is definitely not topping this, but even so the boost from episode 13 should give episode 14 a higher than usual karma.
I think the best chance to top this karma total is next year in the second half of season 3 of MT.
And if that doesn't do it then we'll probably have to wait until season 3 of Frieren in Fall 2027.

I think the best chance to top this karma total is next year in the second half of season 3 of MT.
The Diary episode was my 2nd most anticipated moment in this whole story and studio bind delivered. My number 1 is after this break. Cant wait to see how they adapt it, I have faith they'll knock it out of the park.

I'd say it would have been around 13,500. Keep in mind that 15000 Karma during Wintermaggedon was still a total that only Attack on Titan was ever able to reach.

俺は放送前の評判とか、薬屋のひとりごとと一緒に宣伝されてたのもあって、ちょっとは期待してた。でも、ここまで楽しめるとは思わなかった。

I actually did have some expectations for that one considering how people talked about it beforehand and its shared advertising with Apothecary Diaries but I didn't expect it to be that enjoyable

同じく。薬屋の作者が気に入ってるって知ってたから「まあ、そこそこの“二番煎じ”くらいにはなるだろ」って感じで見始めたら……悪役令嬢もので一番好きな作品になりそうなうえに、薬屋より好きな作品になった。

Same. I came in knowing the Apothecary Diaries author loved it so I was like “cool I guess it can at least be decent ‘clone’”…instead I got what is on track to be not only my favorite villainess anime but also a show I like more than Apothecary Diaries.

これと『Victoria of Many Faces』のせいで、ラノベを読み始めちゃった。

Both this and Victoria of Many Faces pushed me into starting the LN series.

Every character has some complexity and there aren't lot of annoying tropes. Plus the villainesses are all likeable

主人公のレイリンはアイドルより前向きな性格で、NARUTOのロック・リーがゴロゴロしてばっかりのダメ人間に見えるくらいの頑張り屋。

Reirin, our protagonist, has a more positive personality than an idol, and makes Rock Lee from Naruto look like a bum who spends too much time lazing around.

it really seems like the surprise hit of the season. its just so much fun

ふつつかな悪女は、思ってたよりずっと魅力的な作品だった。

I didnt click as much with Smoking Behind the Supermarket as I was hoping I would.
Inept Villainess on the other hand turned out so much more charming than I would have expected.

続編以外だと、『KAIJU girl caramelize』はめちゃくちゃ見過ごされてると思う

I enjoyed the first few episodes of Kaiju girl, but had to drop them because I didn't have the time for it anymore. How did the rest of the series turn out?

まさに予想どおりの展開。結末はほぼあれしかないってやつだけど、うまくまとめてたと思う

俺にとって前のクールのベストは、スーパーの裏でヤニ吸うふたりとぐらんぶる。ヤニねこはとにかくぶっ飛んでるから入れた。黄泉のツガイも良かった（2クール目は1クール目よりずっと良かった）

Smoking behind the supermarket, grand blue were the best of last season for me. Yani neko because of its sheer absurdity. Daemons was also great (cour 2 was much better than cour 1)

It also took me a bit to warm up to Daemons, but now that its first cour was finished I can appreciate how well it's written.

今期一番好きだったのは俺も『Love Unseen』。最後の何話かで何度も泣いた。無職転生、転スラ、リゼロの新しいシーズンと、スーパーの裏でヤニ吸うふたりも大好きだった。

My favorite of the season was also Love Unseen..cried multiple times in the last few episodes. I also loved the newest seasons of Mushoku, Slime, Re:Zero and Smoking Behind the Supermarket.

And to think we already know S2 is coming. I had 0 expectations of getting more of those sweet girls and their sensei.

そうだ、俺も見なきゃ。あれだけ評価が高いんだし。漫画家やアニメーター志望の話はちょっと身につまされるから避けてたんだよね。SHIROBAKOの1話を見たときもそんな感じだった。どんな作品かはまだ知らないから、全部見るまでは何とも言えない。そのうち絶対見るよ。

Oh yeah, I should get on that too, considering it's so highly rated. I sort of distanced myself from stories with aspiring manga/anime creators because it sort of hits a little to close to home, kind of how I felt with Shirabako episode 1. I have no idea how the show is though so I can't judge it until I've seen the whole thing. Will definitely get to it eventually.

『追放された転生重騎士はゲーム知識で無双する』大好き。総集編を除けば最高の作品だよ。個人的には、やりすぎな髪の毛の作画が笑えるし大歓迎。
1話で意味もなくカメラが床を突き抜けてパンしたのを見て、作画はこれから楽しくなるぞって確信した。

I love Exiled Heavy Knight. Aside from the recaps, it's a great show. And personally, I find the over-the-top hair animations both hilarious and welcome.
When they had a panning shot go through the floor for literally no reason in the first episode, I knew we were in for a ride when it comes to the animation.

俺もすごく好きだった（最近の回では総集編もほとんど無くなってたし）。特に、背景のキャラたちがそれぞれ勝手に動いてる、ゲームっぽい世界を作ろうとしてるところ（同じ場面の使い回しも多いけど、この試みはほんとに好き）。RPGっぽい仕組みと主人公たちもいい。もちろん作画もいい。

I also really liked it (they almost removed the recaps too in newer episodes), especially them trying to set up a more game like world where background characters are doing their own stuff (even if many of the scenes are repeated but I really like them doing this). The rpg mechanics of the show and the lead characters. And ofc the animation is good, but I really hope they reduce the oversharpness in zoom out shots of the environment especially the town buildings, it is freaking jarring and ugly to look at in an otherwise stylish artstyle.

I'm obsessed with the shot in the Young Ladies Don't Play Fighting Games opening where Mio turns around whipping the controller cord and sending coloured paint all over the background.

そのカット、俺も大好き！！ それを挙げてくれるとはね。俺もOPで一番好きなところなんだよ。

I absolutely love that shot too!! How funny that you mention that, it’s my favourite part of the opening.

ふつつかな悪女はOPもEDも最高だった。おもしろいことに、miletもロクデナシもSpotifyでもともとフォローしてたから、何も考えずに曲をプレイリストに入れてたんだよ。で、何週間かして作品を見始めたら、なんか聞き覚えがあってびっくりした

Inept villainess had amazing op and ed, funnily enough I already followed milet and rokudenashi on spotify, do I've added the songs to my playlist not thinking much, and a few weeks later when I started watching the show, I was really surprised that they were familiar for some reason

俺のJ-POPのプレイリストにはロクデナシの曲がたくさん入ってる。そのリストは基本、見たアニメの曲しか入れてないから、アニメで見かけてないアーティストはロクデナシだけだったんだよ。1話のあとにエンディングを見たときは、思わず叫びそうになった。

I have a lot of Rokudenashi on my J-pop playlist, which usually only has songs from anime I've watched. So they were the only artists I hadn't seen in an anime. When I saw the ending after the first episode, I almost freaked out.

全体として、夏はほんとにいい作品が揃ってた。ベストガールも今期のベストも、ここ何クールかで一番迷わずに決まったから良かった。
さて次は秋。続編じゃない作品にもいいのがあるといいな。

Overall, summer had some really good shows. My best girl and AotS were the easiest picks I've had in a quite a few seasons, so that was nice.

タヤマも大好きだけど、体の状態があんななのに自分の人生を生きてるレイリンには勇気づけられる。

I really like Tayama, but the way Reirin lives her life despite her physical condition is inspirational.

慢性の痛みと障害を抱えてる身からすると、ほんとに素敵。ただ、気合いで何とかなるみたいに見せてるのはちょっと引っかかるけど。それでも彼女の考え方は誇っていいものだと思う。

as someone with chronic pain/disability its genuinely lovely, though a little problematic that the show makes it seem that it comes down to willpower. but her outlook is something to be proud of.

agreed, that said its still a pretty great showcase of disability in anime and I am all for that.

as someone with a bad back, some days is plainly a "no, its a day wasted away because I cant do the day at all" but yeah im kinda inspired by how Reirin do things, while acknowledging theres only so much I can do with my limits.

I don't know if that's the take away here. Regardless of her willpower, she was still heavily managing her condition with medication and limiting her activities to what she knew she could handle.

Its honestly something that people today can really learn from. A lot of us complain about the miniscule things and use excuses to not do what we should do. Meanwhile Reiren will do the most when she feels the worst.

Yea it's a good tale. Reirin didn't rest on her privilege to earn the admiration and respect of others. In fact her situation only limited what she could achieve. To prove it, she accomplishes more without the privilege and turns scorn into even greater admiration. You are the things you do with what you have. Earned award this season.
