クランチロールの英題は、題名とその冗談を完全に台無しにしてる。彼女の名前は佐藤（シュガー、少なくとも砂糖と同じ音）なのに、みんなからは塩っぽいって言われてる、っていう冗談なのに。

クランチロールが英題を「冷たい佐藤さん（Cold Satou-san）」に変えたのは、まさに英語の salty の含みのせいだと思うよ。
日本語の題名は「塩対応」で、こはるがやってる冷たくてそっけない返事のこと。でも英語で salty のままだと意味が通じないし、悪い含みもある。だから実はいい訳だと思う。

Pretty sure that's exactly why CR changed the English title to "Cold Satou-san", because of the connotations of salty in English.
The Japanese title is 塩対応, which means that cold, curt reply Koharu does. But keeping it "salty" doesn't make sense in English plus there is the negative connotation. So I think it actually is a good translation.

あと、主人公の声がどうしても梅田修一朗に聞こえて、クレジットとMALを確認したら本人じゃなくてすごく驚いたｗ

He totally fooled me in first half ngl. I really thought he's a natural ikemen type since every interaction was smooth so far which makes the revealed was so hilarious to me lol. It's great that both of them already mutually love each other when they met at the entrance exam but those few hours together with Sota totally sealed the deal for Satou for sure.

佐藤こはる。ラブコメアニメのOPを大石昌良に歌わせるのは、間違いなく自分を釣る方法の一つだわ。しかもEDはHoneyWorks！この二組を起用したあたり、制作陣は分かってるね！
で、本編について。もう主人公二人が大好き！学校では氷の女王扱いのヒロイン佐藤は、実は人付き合いが苦手で、いつも言葉を間違えるだけの子。一方の押尾は、自信満々でいかにもイケメンっぽく振る舞ってるけど、実は演じてるだけで、佐藤と同じくらい人付き合いに緊張してる！この二人、お互いのために生まれてきたようなもんだよｗ
正直、佐藤の種明かしは見え見えだったから、押尾もずっと同じくらい緊張してたって明かされた時は不意を突かれた。だって、佐藤を自分の部屋に連れていって、写真もかなり率直に批評してたんだよ！二人とも不器用で、一方はわざと隠していて、もう一方は無自覚、っていうひねりが本当に好き。
しかも二人ともしばらく前からお互いに思いを寄せていて、お互いが初恋の相手らしい！よし、買った！このおバカな二人がどうやって結ばれるのか見たい。正直、どっちかが告白さえすれば即付き合えるでしょ。シーズンの終わりまで待たされないことを祈るだけだ。

Satou Koharu Having Masayoshi Oishi perform the OP to your romcom anime is definitely one way to hook me. Oh, and they also have Honeyworks performing the ED! The anime's production staff definitely understood the assignment when they got these two artists for this show!
Anyway, as for the episode itself, I already love our two MCs! So our FMC Satou, who's seen as an Ice Queen at school is actually just someone with social anxiety and says the wrong thing all the time, while Oshio, who acts super confident and like a proper hot guy is really just putting on an act and is really just as socially anxious as Satou! These two are perfectly made for each other! xD
Not gonna lie, the twist about Satou's character was so obvious that I got blindsided when they revealed l that Oshio was actually just as nervous as her the entire time. I mean, the dude brought Satou back to his room and was even really candid with his critique of her photos! I really love the twist that they're both awkward people; one is hiding it intentionally, while the other is unintentional.
Oh, and apparently, both of them have been pining for each other for a while and are each other's first love! Yeah, I'm sold! I wanna see how these two goofballs will end up together. Honestly, someone just needs to confess, and they'd be dating immediately. I'm just hoping we won't have to wait till the end of the season to see that.

It's kind of like Kaguya-sama in the sense that both project an outward version of themselves in public but are secretly just two dumb teenagers mutually in love with each other, only difference is that they're more liable to show their "real" selves to each other when they're alone instead of playing mind games to drag out a confession.
Will they use trying to turn Satou into an Minsta star as an excuse to hang out? Clearly he's the only one who can help her take proper pictures lol.

思ってたよりずっとかわいくて、魅力のある作品だった。正直、あまり期待してなかった。
本当に心をつかまれたのは、店長が巨人みたいな登場の仕方をしたところ。ラブコメはコメディの部分も大事だし、アニメみたいな映像の媒体なら、こういう見た目で笑わせる演出をどんどん使うべきだ。
それに、押尾が、なぜか人気の女の子をものにするいつもの内向的でぼっちの冴えないオタクじゃないのもいい。普通の、けっこう社交的な男に見える。たとえば、前にも佐藤に話しかけようとしてたし、ウェイターとして積極的に働いてるし、インスタのアカウントも運営してる。佐藤とのやり取りでは考え過ぎるけど、初恋の相手と話す時は普通の男でも大体そうなる。それは普通のことだ。むしろ、友達のいない内向的なぼっちは佐藤のほうなんだよね。

This show is a lot cuter and has a lot more charm than I expected. I honestly didn't expect much from it
The manager being introduced like he's a damn Titan is what truly hooked me. The com in romcom is important too. And a visual medium like anime should make use of visual comedy like this
I also appreciate that Oshio isn't the usual introvert loner loser otaku who somehow manages to bag the popular girl. He seems to be a regular dude and pretty outgoing. He was shown to have tried to approach Sato in the past already for example, he works as a waiter and is proactive in that job and also runs an Instagram account. He still over thinks his interactions with Sato, but a lot of regular dudes do when they are talking to their first love. That's normal. It's Sato instead who's the friendless loner introvert

正直、最初はちょっとありきたりに感じたけど、最後には両片思い同士の話っぽくなって、大歓迎。その路線で押してほしい。
伊藤美来のキャラを見るのは久しぶりな気がするから、佐藤がもっと見られるのが楽しみ。

Ngl, at the start it felt kinda generic but by the end it seems like a yearner x yearner type of thing and I’m all up for it. Hope they lean on it.

「ありきたり」かどうかはともかく、今期これまでで即継続を決めた数少ない作品の一つ。こういう作品が一番好きなんだよね。ジャンルがどうこうより、キャラがすぐに生き生きしてきて、優しくて気持ちのいい雰囲気をすぐに作ってくれるところがいい（設定にも少しずつ工夫があって、少なくともちょっとは個性がある）。

"Generic" or not -- this is one of my few insta-keeps of the season so far. This is one of the sort of shows I like best. Not because of the "type" so much as the fact that the characters come alive so quickly and the show establishes a kind-hearted, good-natured feel so quickly (while the setup has enough little tweaks to make it at least a bit distinctive).

すごく甘くてかわいかった。第1話で両想いだって分かるから、それを確かめるのに時間を無駄にしなくて済むのがうれしい。父親が、昔ながらの筋肉ムキムキで怖そうな父ちゃんとして登場したのに、実はただのお茶目な人だったのには爆笑した。
OPとEDもすごくいい。ちょっと『お隣の天使様』っぽい雰囲気がした。ほかに理由がなくても、毎週の癒やし枠として見続けると思う。

That was so sweet and adorable. I'm glad we learn that it's mutual in the first episode so we don't have waste any time finding that out. His dad being introduced like a classic muscled intimating dad only for him to actually be a dork sent me.
The OP and ED are great. They kind gave me Angel Next Door vibes. I think I'll be keeping this if for nothing else than a weekly comfort show.

たぶん一番深い話にはならないだろうけど、今のところこの二人は好き。父ちゃんも楽しくなりそうだし、ひどい親だらけの中で、まともなアニメの父親がまた一人増えるのはいいね。冷たく見えて、実はすごく緊張してるだけの女の子っていうのには弱いんだよ。

Probably not going to be the deepest story but I like these two kids so far. Also the dad is going to be fun, and nice to have another decent anime dad when so many parents suck. I have a soft spot for the cold girl who's actually just really nervous.

Yes. While we have not yet been shown she remembers her kind fellow test-taker, I think it is crystal clear she DID remember him. And her INTENT was to find out the name of her already shing knight-in-armor (when he said hello in the hallway). But she was not able to communicate that. However, she made a point of finding out his name in some way or another -- and when they re-met (by happenstance) at the cafe she called him Oshio-kun right off. And she refers to him as her "first love" when looking at their accidental selfie. I got a sense that she rather desperately wanted to make the most of their encounter.

On one hand, she does seem more cold than salty. On the other hand, cold is not a flavor and it breaks the symmetry of the title.

Sometimes you just gotta choose what make sense for the language being translated to while trying to keep as much of the context as possible. That is what localisation is all about.

This seems like a gem. Love their dynamic too. Two awkward people that are very much in love with each other for a while.
When the dad barged in the room and started flexing to get out of that awkwardness, I knew this would be worth the watch.

この回はけっこう気に入った。ちょっとありきたりな感じはするけど、作画はいいし、主役二人の相性もいい。二人ともお互いに気持ちがあるのがいいね。これで今後、無駄な三角関係を避けられるといいんだけど。

I kinda liked the episode. It seems sort of generic but the animation is good and the leads have some chemistry between them. Its nice that both have feelings for each other. Hopefully that will avoid unnecesary love triangles in the future. Also, as a side question, are japanese men as pushy as anime makes them look when they invade the personal space of a woman who is alone and minding her bussiness or is that just an anime trope to make the male lead a "savior"?

The most unrealistic thing about it is that a teenage girl doesn't know how to take pics for (m)insta. I know I'm asking too much but I really hope that there's no childhood friend involved that will arrive all of a sudden(they absolutely will)

落ち着いた素敵なガーデンカフェで、押尾颯太は家業を手伝っている。でも、まさかそこでクラスメイトの佐藤こはる（CV：伊藤美来）に会うとは思っていなかった。しかも彼女は、パンケーキの映える写真を撮ろうとして（失敗して）いた。
OPは大石昌良のラブコメ名曲！颯太と佐藤、それににぎやかな脇役たちが、ドラマや失恋、スイーツや楽しいことを乗り越えていく。颯太と佐藤が結ばれて、あの佐藤の笑顔が見られるなら、全部その価値がある！
学校での佐藤は、誰でも突っぱねる完全な氷の女王で、颯太の存在にすら気づいてないように見える……なのに、このカフェではまるで別人。ナンパ男たちから彼女を助けたことで、颯太は間違いなく強い印象を残した。まあ、どう見てもアームストロング家の血筋の父ちゃんが、地響きのする足取りと本気のパンケーキ愛で乱入してきたのも効いたけど！
案の定、佐藤は自分が周りにどう見られてるのかまったく気づいてない。実際はただの不器用で緊張しがちな、友達が欲しくてたまらない女の子で、ミンスタグラムのスターになれば友達ができると思ってる。それに、颯太の名前も実はちゃんと知ってる……その理由は後で明かされる。映える写真を撮る手伝いをするなら、本物のミンスタグラマーである颯太ほどの適任はいない。特に彼女の撮影の腕前は……控えめに言っても独特だからね。
父ちゃんが顔を出した時、ずいぶんいい雰囲気になってたじゃないか、お二人さん？
庭の写真を撮るはずが、二人の初ツーショット自撮りに！後で分かることを考えると、佐藤がこの写真を残したがるのも当然だ。
実は二人が最初に会ったのは、どちらも入試のプレッシャーを感じていた時で、颯太が佐藤を元気づけようとポプリをあげたんだ。そして彼女が最高の笑顔を返した瞬間、彼は完全に心を奪われた。でも、佐藤が「彼の」初恋であるのと同じように、実は彼も「彼女の」初恋で、彼女も今なお彼に夢中なのは明らかだ！
EDはすごくかわいくて楽しくて、佐藤やほかの女性キャラたちがかわいく魅力的に描かれた映像がいっぱい。しかも、佐藤が颯太に気持ちを伝えようとする歌なのは明らかで、いかにもHoneyWorksらしい。

At a cozy and pleasant garden cafe, Sota Oshio works there at the family business. But he never expected to see his classmate Koharu Sato (Miku Ito) there and...trying (and failing) to take trendy pictures of pancakes.
The OP is a Masayoshi Oishi romcom banger! Featuring Sota, Sato, and their lively supporting cast as they struggle through drama, heartbreak, sweets, and fun! It's all worth it for Sota and Sato to be together and to get that Sato smile!
At school Sato is a complete ice queen who dismisses everybody and doesn't seem aware Sota even exists...yet she looks completely different at this cafe. And he certainly makes a strong impression on her when he saves her from pick-up artists. Though his dad who is clearly of the Armstrong bloodline coming in with his quaking steps and genuine love of pancakes helped too!
Surprise surprise, Sato is totally oblivious to how she comes across to people when, in reality, she's actually just an awkward, nervous, girl desperate for friends and thinks becoming a minstagram star will get her friends. She also actually DOES know Sota's name...for reasons that will be revealed later. And who better to assist her in taking trendy pictures than a legit minstagrammer like Sota? Especially when her photography skills are...unique, to say the least.
Getting real cozy there when dad popped in, huh kids?
Instead of taking a picture of the garden we get their first couple selfie! It's no surprise Sato wants to keep the picture with what we learn later.
Turns out the first time they actually met was when they were both feeling the stress of entrance exams and Sota offered Sato some potpurri to help her feel better. And it was when she gave him her winning smile that he was absolutely smitten. But while she's HIS first love, he in reality is also HER first love and she's clearly still head over heels for him!
The ED is really cute and fun with a lot of visuals of Sato being cute and attractive along with the other ladies in the cast. And very on-brand for Honeyworks because the ED is clearly about Sato trying to convey her feelings to Sota.

まさかのぼっちラブコメ。まさかの最高の父ちゃんでもある。アームストロング一族に、また一人気のいいムキムキ男が加わったな。
回の最後で、佐藤が押尾との過去の出会いを振り返る回想に、高校入試の前に彼からお菓子をもらった場面が入ってなかったのはちょっと残念。あれがあれば、「最初の出会いを忘れている」っていうお決まりの過去設定を完全にひっくり返せたのに。
十分楽しい滑り出し。火曜のお昼にちょうどいい作品になりそう。

Surprise Bocchi romcom. Surprise great dad too, another good natured big muscled guy for the Armstrong extended family.
I'm a little disappointed that Satou's flashbacks to previous encounters with Sato at the end of the episode didn't include him giving her the candy before their high school entrance tests, would have been a nice full subversion of the forgotten first meeting backstory trope.
Pleasant enough start, this should be a good Tuesday lunch show.

かなりかわいい。かなり王道でもあるけど。となると、試されるのは恋の進展をどれだけ引き延ばすかだろうね。それでも、両片思い同士で始まるのはいいスタートだから、二人がはっきり口にしなくても、カップリングを推せる展開は約束されてる。

Pretty cute, albeit pretty standard as well. Now I suppose the test will be how much romantic progress will be dragged out. Still, yearner x yearner is a good start, so we're guaranteed shippy goodness even if they never say it out loud.

There are so many better rom com manga that deserve an anime adaptation. Without the dad, there’s nothing interesting about this at all.

今期はあまりたくさん見てないから、この作品は毎週追うことにした。終わってから一気見することはたぶんないだろうし。
思ってたより良かった。とはいえ誤解しないでほしいけど、今のところはかなり王道のラノベラブコメだ。それでも、主役カップルの相性は好きだし、こはるには友達を作れるようになりたいっていう目標があるし、主人公はあの騒がしい男たちに立ち向かえた（追い払うのには父ちゃんの力が必要だったけど）。この作品で一番のキャラはたぶん父ちゃんになるなｗ 部屋に入ってくる時の地響きが最高。
あらすじではほのぼのした作品って書いてあったのに、OPにはドラマっぽい場面がたくさんあるね。女の子も何人か出てくる。ハーレムになるかもしれないけど、シーズンの終わりまでに二人が告白するか、せめて少しは進展してほしい。
次の回はたぶん学校が舞台で、お決まりの男友達とか、ほかの女の子とか、脇役がもっと出てきそう。
『クラスで2番目に可愛い女の子と友だちになった』みたいに、いい意味で驚かせてくれるといいな。あれも欠点はあったし最高のラブコメってわけじゃないけど、全体としてはいい感じにまとまって好きだった（虹夏や郁代の声優さんみたいに、好きな声優が出てたのも大きい。この作品にも、ぼっちの声優さんが出てるらしいね）。

I'm not watching too many shows this season, so I decided to watch this one weekly since I probably won't binge watch this otherwise once it's over.
The episode was better than I expected it to be, though don't get me wrong, it's fairly standard for a LN rom com so far. But I do like how the main couple have chemistry with each other, Koharu has a goal to so she can start making some friends, and MC was able to stand up to those rowdy dudes (even though he needed his dad to scare them off). Dad will probably be the best character in this show lol. Love the rumbling when he walks into the room.
There seems to be a lot of drama in the OP, even though the synopsis said this was going to be a wholesome show. Plus there's several girls in there. Might be a harem, but I hope these two confess or at least go somewhere by the end of the season.
The next episode will probably take place at school, which will probably introduce more side characters like the token male friend and one of the other girls.
Hoping this show ends up surprising me like "I made friends with the second prettiest girl in class", that show had it's faults and it's not the best rom com out there, but I do like how it turned out overall (plus it helped that that show had some of my favorite VAs, like Nijika and Ikuyo's VAs. This show apparently has Bocchi's VA as well).

予想以上に良くてうれしい驚き。名前も知らないまま最初に出会って、優しいひとときを分け合った、っていういい引きがある。二人とも人前で恥ずかしがり過ぎて、慎重になり過ぎる癖がある。ラブコメとしては軽くてあまり深刻じゃない感じで、時にはまさにそういうのが欲しくなる。最初から二人とも相手に恋してるのも本当に助かる。父ちゃんがこの作品を一段上に押し上げてる。ただのいい人なのに、その体の迫力だけで怪しい男たちをあっさり尻尾を巻いて逃げ出させるんだから。
クランチロールの字幕の題名のほうが、このスレの題名よりいいと思う……
「The Cold Sato-san is Only Sweet to Me（冷たい佐藤さんは俺にだけ甘い）」……彼女と関わった人たちが凍りつく演出があったし、主人公も彼女がいかに冷たく見えるかに触れてた。salty だと意味が通らないんだよ。

I was pleasantly surprised by how good this was. It has a nice hook of an early first meeting where they didn't know one another and shared a sweet moment. Both characters have their personality quirk of being overly shy and cautious around others. As far as romcom's go, this feels kind of light hearted and not too serious which is sometimes exactly what I need. Having both already in love with the other at the start really helps. The Dad puts this over the top as he's just a good dude and yet his physical presence can get skeevy dudes to tuck tail and run without issue.
I think the title with the subs and crunchroll is better than the one on this thread...
"The Cold Sato-san is Only Sweet to Me" ... they had the people that interacted with her freeze and our main character guy even made not of how cold she comes off. Salty just doesn't make sense.

『スーパーの裏でヤニ吸うふたり』みたいに、片方か、もしかしたら両方が、相手は最初の出会いを覚えてないと思ってる始まりっぽい。その最初の出会いの周りで、すれ違いを続けそうだね。第1話から二人ともすでに惚れ合ってるのが分かるのはいい。そこは『古見さん』や『Oh Boy Was I Wrong About Her』と比べてちょっと新鮮。二人とも頭の中でぐるぐる考え込むタイプのおバカで、『氷の城壁』っぽさ、もっと言えば軽めの『正反対な君と僕』っぽさもある。そこに父ちゃんと、地元のカフェ。このジャンルとしては、なかなか新鮮でいい組み合わせ。ひどい恥ずかしがりみたいに比べられる共通点もあるけど、この作品のヒロインは自分の意見を言うのに困ってるわけじゃない。ただ、なぜしないのかの「理由」を言わないだけなんだ。
そして、そう、『古見さん』は最高だった。長く続いてる漫画のアニメ化を止めて、続きを作ってないのが残念。

This has an almost Smoking Behind the Supermarket With you kind of start with one or possibly both of them not thinking the other remembers their initial meeting. Seems like they'll probably dance around that first meeting. I like that from EP1 we know they both already fell for one another. That's kind of fresh over Komi and Oh Boy. Both of these characters are kind of stuck in their head dorks which gives me some Ramparts of Ice, or more appropriately lighter You and I are Polar Opposites. Then there's the Dad and the whole neighborhood cafe. It's a nice, kind of fresh mix for the genre. Some common things to compare like painful shyness, but our female here has no trouble speaking up for herself, she just doesn't say "why" she won't do things. And yes, Komi was fantastic. It's a shame they stopped and haven't continued the long running manga adaptation.

そもそも、なんでこのカフェに来るのはほとんどカップルなの？友達同士で甘いものを食べたい人はいないの？それとも日本ってそういうものなの？
ああ、縦向きで写真を撮っちゃった。あれ嫌いなんだよね。4:3の画面が廃れなければ（それなら向きの違いなんて大した問題にならなかった）とか、みんながスマホを横にしてくれればとか思う。縦写真を上げた人がみんなそのあと頭痛にでもなってくれれば、それでも手を打つ。目が横じゃなくて縦に並んで生まれてきた人でもない限り、この形式はごく限られた場面でしか使うべきじゃない。
SNSで社交的になろうとするのは……笑えるくらい悪手だよ。まず現実で友達を作ろう。ネットで知り合った人が何人かいるのは別にいい。でも、それを土台にすると、あとで余計に面倒を抱えることになる。
なんで男女がお互いの部屋に行っちゃいけないんだろう。昔は友達にCDやゲームを見せびらかしてたのに、高校に入ったら誤解されかねないから女の子にはやめなきゃいけなくなった。なんでこんなバカげた慣習があるんだ。部屋にはベッド以外にも持ち物がいろいろあるのに。
HoneyWorksのボカロ時代がちょっと恋しい。今の曲も、生歌と昔のボカロのやり方を混ぜてくれたらいいのに。
楽しいラブコメになりそう。第3話まで見て判断する。かなり期待してる。

I don't get why Sato is considered an Ice Queen just because she didn't want to date anyone. There are other things boys and girls can do besides go out romantically. And then she acts defensively to people grabbing her phone which can be interpreted as a theft attempt. Later in the episode we actually do see people in flashbacks asking if she'd like to do non dating stuff, so I wonder why that wasn't included at the beginning of the episode.
Why would this cafe mostly be visited by couples anyways? No one likes to eat sweets in a group of friends? Or is this just how Japan is?
Arg, she took a vertical picture. I hate those. I either wish the 4:3 format never died (meaning the difference would be moot), people would just rotate their phones, or third I'll take it if everyone who uploaded a vertical picture or got a headache afterward. Unless there someone was born with eyes over each other instead of next to each other, this format should be used in very limited cases.
Trying to become more social by using social media is... a comically bad idea. Make friends in real life first. It's fine if you have a few people you meet on the internet. But if you make these as a baseline, you're going to cause yourself more trouble in the future.
Why can't boys and girls go to each other's bedroom? I used to show off my CDs or video games to my friends. But then in high school I had to stop doing it with girls because that could send the wrong message. But why do we have this stupid social convention? Like yes making love can be done on the mattress, but I have more possessions than that on the bed.
I sort of miss Honeyworks' vocaloid era. I wish their modern songs would be a mix of live singers and those older types.
Looks like a fun rom com. Will see how this is by episode 3. I have high hopes.

Episode 1 and we're already blessed with a cold but adorable Koharu Sato. Good thing this anime doesn't have a drama tag—just a sweet, wholesome rom-com. Otherwise, I'd already be remembering some things from a different Koharu last season. LMAO

Yeah, I have a feeling Sato suffers from some pretty severe anxiety. At the very least her relationship with her mom is probably fine as she pretty casually brings her mom up, saying that she can talk normally to her, so that's one less thing to worry about

So both are in love with each other. I hope they don't drag the confession. Judging from the huge list of girls that we're gonna get, it does look like it's not gonna be an easy road for Satou and Oshio.

The title in this post is very different from the Crunchyroll title, which is "The Cold Sato-san is Only Sweet to Me".

それに、クランチロールの題名のほうが、本編を見た後だとしっくりくる。みんな彼女のことを冷たいって言い続けてるから。

And the crunchroll title makes more sense after watching the episode as they keep referring to her as cold.

要するに、二人とも社会でまともに生きていくのがやっとっていう特徴が一つあるだけ。うわ、これ以上好きになれないラブコメの主人公たちって、なかなか思いつかないわ。

So they both have one defining trait that they can barely exist in a society. Wow, i struggle to think of more unlikable romcoms leads.

何年か前、2021年ごろに漫画を読んだのを覚えてる。
