I’m a little surprised this one got renewed tbh. I mean it was fine, I just didn’t think it would do well enough for an s2. That said, it’s nice to see this one again. Season 1 really was the definition of mid and this looks to be more of the same. That being said it’s fine that it’s just “alright”. It has its funny moments and cool magic battles.

アリアーヌにもレイが冰剣の魔術師だってことと、悲しい過去を教える時間だ！でもアリアーヌにとって一番大事なのは、アメリアがレイと二人きりで過ごす時間が長すぎるってこと。自分もそこに加わる気満々！手始めに練習試合で、レイは文字どおり彼女の足をすくって、体も心もさらってしまう！
そう、レイの地獄の特訓が帰ってきた！アリアーヌはノリノリ！アメリアもまた強制参加！レンジャー、ですわ！

でも、アリアーヌが最初に出会う女の子でもある、ステラ・ホワイト（CV：種﨑敦美）！ほかでもないレイの妹だ！妹キャラがいなきゃハーレムは完成しないからね。
Pretty ominous way to start the season with kids in cages, but don't worry, Best Girl LILY WHITE is on the case! All it takes is dislocating and resetting her shoulder and soloing a bunch of thugs to rescue some girls in need!
And it's not just any girl: it's princess Olivia Arnold (Hana Hishikawa)! That's right! Ray has had a princess in his Harem this whole time! And thank goodness the wig fell off so she's not another girl deluded into thinking Lily is real...but Olivia still pines HARD for Ray!
We get brief snippets of the OP and it seems like the main thrust of the season is Ray battling some redhead with energy blade hands! Also here's the Heroines in fancy dresses singing the OP!
I love how they had to throw in a scene of Elisa (now played by Miyu Kubota) and Ray commenting on the studio/design change.
Amelia is hooked on romance novels thanks to Ray, and Ray is probably the only one who could convince her to actually team-up with Ariane for the Magick War Battle. Minus having her crush see her in loungewear and with her hair a mess.
Time to catch Ariane up on Ray's Iceblade Sorcerer status and tragic backstory! But the most important thing to Ariane is that Amelia has had too much one-on-one time with Ray and she's ready to get into that herself! Starting with a training bout where he literally sweeps her off her feet both physically and emotionally!
That's right, Ray's hardcore training sessions are back! And Ariane is down for them! And Amelia is forced to train too again! Ranger-desuwa!
Nothing beats a morning where Ray and Rebecca get to hang out and water plants, especially when the mood is getting good...until Amelia shows up. Rebecca and Amelia get along like oil and water over Ray (complete with summoning food animals to have an aura farming catfight) but the one thing that can unite them together is the shared desire to prevent Ariane from becoming any closer to Ray than she already has. This Harem is big enough as it is!
So Ray will be going up against Ev and Albert? Who will be the last person in their muscle bro party though?
Glad to see Ray get approval from Lydia, but what did Lieselotte want to talk with him about?
I'm glad Ariane seems to actually enjoy Ray's training methods (even the ones where she and Amelia get soaked) though poor Amelia has to watch as she gets shipped off for additional training while Ariane gets to shack up with Ray. Also Rebecca using her own student council secretary to keep tabs on Ray. I guess she had to find out about him shacking up with another woman somehow!
But Ariane is also the first girl to meet: Stella White (Atsumi Tanezaki)! None other than Ray's little sister! Because no Harem is complete without the little sister character.

OPの途中に入った場面で、第四の壁を破ってた？ 自分たちの見た目が違うって本人たちが言ってたよね。あの場面はちょっと浮いてる気もしたけど。OPが妙だった。1期がどう終わったか忘れてたから、前半はそこまで楽しめなかった。後半はよかったし、正直、作画の変化には慣れるまで時間がかかりそう。やっぱり前の方が好きかも。それと、レイへの気持ちに気づく場面とその後の協定は本当に面白かったし、後半はよくなった。レイに妹がいたのも驚いた。今まで一度も話に出さなかったみたいで、ちょっと引っかかる。あと女の子を自分の家に招くなんて、どこまで鈍いんだ。そんな鈍いレイへのほかの女の子たちの反応が面白かった
They broke the 4th wall during the scene that appeared between the OP scene ? They mentioned themselves they looked different even through it feel out of place that scene. It was weird the OP. The first half of the episode wasn't that great because I forgot how season 1 ended. The rest of the episode was better and honestly will take time to get used to the animation change. Maybe I still prefer the old one more. Also that scene about relaizing her fealing about Ray and then the pact later was really funny, the rest of the episode felt better. Also surprised Ray have a little sister like it felt bad he never mentioned her at all before. Also inviting a girl to his house, how clueless can he be. The other girls reaction were funny about him being clueless.

This episode had everything I loved about Iceblade Sorcerer:
On-point meta humor. Lily White. Amelia being a bisexual disaster. Multiple girls being thirsty for Ray and making alliances to deal with other girls thirsty for Ray. Ranger (-desuwa!) Lovely ladies highlighted in both the OP/ED!
ゼロジーは、自分たちが手がけた『嘆きの亡霊は引退したい』のアニメから影響を受けてるみたいだね！特に、キャストが次回予告を歌ったりラップしたりするところや、本編の内容がOPに入り込んでくるところ。

Amelia & Rebecca start the day by being passive aggressive that Ray even sees the animals before agreeing to a non aggression pact.
We get young Lily White to start this episode. Ray just casually escaping by dislocating his bones before fixing them again was metal & funny.
Ariane's nose blowing sound is cute.

At least the ED is not too dangerous than the previous one.
Ariane may be expecting Ray's attack from behind but still lost to him.

This really suprised me that it came back for a second season, after 3 years but I'm not complaining! Im genuinely happy that it's continuing. Ray is such a lady killer without even trying. Just him being his nice kind gentle self making all the ladies adore him lol and that first scene, geez, he is such a badass, even as a kid

I appreciate Ray because he's a lady killer but it makes sense. He's kind, but he's also built like a brick house and he's incredibly skilled with magic. And him being good at combat makes sense between his innate magic strength and the fact he's been getting military training since he was a child.

I can’t even call this a legitimate episode. First off, how can the animation be so bad like this? Season 1 was not visually a masterpiece but this episode was so ugly looking. And why are we seeing a fish eye lens shot of a sunflower 🌻 field?
The way everyone moved in this was so stiff. It made no sense. I’m like why are all these girls getting so mad at who hangs out with Ray??
I don’t remember the girls being this weird in season 1.
I noticed Ray’s roommate has moved on. He’s hanging with blue hair boy now. I guess he couldn’t deal with Ray’s cross dressing???
This episode was so bad that I think I’m gonna have to just skip it and watch after it’s done. What a huge letdown because I was looking forward to seeing this 2nd season.

1期を作ったアニメスタジオが倒産したから、2期がそもそも放送されるのか、前のシーズンと雰囲気が変わっちゃうんじゃないかってかなり心配してた。
でも2期の第1話は前のシーズンと同じくらい面白くて笑えたから、本当にうれしい
I was pretty worried about whether season 2 would even air, or if the vibe would change compared to last season, since the animation studio that made season 1 went bankrupt.
But episode 1 of season 2 was just as good and hilarious as the previous season, so I'm really glad.
凡作なのに相変わらず爆笑ものだ。女の子たちがみんなレイを手に入れようと位置取りを争ってるのは、いつもの感じ。しかもレイはホットで強いうえに、学園一スマートな野郎のまま。こいつが理想の男ってのは、実際うなずける。
OPの途中で絵柄の変更をネタにしてたのはよかった
Show remains hysterical even as it is mid. The girls all jockeying for position to claim Ray is on brand, even as he remains the smoothest m**********r in the school, on top of being hot and powerful. Him being a dream boat is actually believable.
I did appreciate during the opening they made a joke about the changed art style.

No idea why shows like this are created, are they really just not money sinks? Terrible show with 3 years between seasons. Imagine these resources were used to work on actually good show, maybe they wouldn't take also 3 years to be made. Cut all that slop (isekai and adjacent are the biggest offender here) that is aired every season in at least half please.

絵柄が違うのはスタジオが変わったから。最初のスタジオは1期の放送から1年くらいで倒産しちゃって、だから2期にこんなに時間がかかったんだ。新しいスタジオはずっと実績があって、『ぐらんぶる』も手がけてるから、ちゃんと利益の出たアニメも作ってるはず。現実的に考えて、これがうまくいけば続きのシーズンも作り続けられると思う
The art style is because of a different studio. The first studio went bankrupt like a year after the first season dropped, which is why this took so long. The new studio has a much longer track record and has made some profitable anime I would assume as they are responsible for Grand Blue, so realistically they could keep making more seasons of this if it does well for them.
