I can already say that I love the series. Spike is amazing, the wild-west feel even though it takes place in space really suits my taste, the music, the dialogue, characters, story, and the episodic style... great 🙂

何度も見たアニメだけど、また見直してる。
この回は完璧な始まり。ビバップは何回見ても楽しい。

まだ第1話なのに、たくさん人が死んだ。わくわくした。

Just the first episode and many deaths occurred. It was exciting.

名作を見始めた。何年か前に何話か見たけど、内容は忘れてた。素手の格闘が良かった。学んだこと、薬はダメ。

1話目でもうハマった。スパイクは最高にかっこいいし、レストランでの格闘も最高だった。

First episode and I'm hooked, Spike is such a BA and that fighting scene at the restaurant was great

格闘の場面までは、ずっとのんびりしてた。
あそこで一気に引き込まれた。

Everything was so chill until the fight scene.

That really caught my attention.

先月アニメを2本切ったあとで、ちゃんと刺さって楽しめそうなものが欲しくて、ついにこれを見た。20:30あたりから音楽が入ってくる所は、熱に浮かされた夢の中にいるみたいだった（すごくいい意味で）。絵柄も、雰囲気も、4:3の画面も、あの瞬間は全部が完璧だった。続きが楽しみ。

After having dropped 2 animes the past month, I needed something that looked poised to offer good impact and enjoyment, so I decided to finally watch this.

20:30 and onward where the music cuts in felt as if I was in a fever dream (in a very good way); the art style, the aesthetics, the 4:3 aspect ratio, all of it just felt perfect in that moment.

Looking forward to the rest of the show.

主人公のスパイクがもう好きになってる。
OPは超名曲だし、1998年のアニメなのに作画は映画みたい。道路での格闘がいちばん好きだった。

I'm already liking the mc Spike

The op is such a banger and the animation feels movie like even for a anime that's made in 1998. The fighting scene on road was my favourite

すごくブルースっぽい。いちばん好きだったのは、回の終わりが始まりと同じところに戻ってくることと、視点を混ぜる使い方がすごく効いてたこと。ずっと新しいアニメで言うと、『モブサイコ100』の2期でも、ここで気に入った「銃の照準越し」のカメラアングルに似たことをやってる。あっちがこっちから取り入れたとしても、驚かない。

So very bluesy. I think my favorite things were that the episode ended where it began, as well as how impactful the use of mixed perspectives was. To reference a much newer anime, Mob Psycho 100 s2 does something similar to the 'down the gun sights' camera angle that I loved here. I wouldn't be surprised if that anime picked it up from this one.

名作をまた一本、見る時が来た。『カウボーイビバップ』……今のところ、画面から空気があふれ出すのを感じる。SFと西部劇のいい組み合わせで、話はテンポが良くてアクション満載なのに、雰囲気はすごく落ち着いてる。主人公はすぐ好きになった。愛嬌があって抜け目なくて、冗談好き。ずっと見ていたくなる。4/5

Time to catch up on another classic, Cowboy Bebop... for now I can feel the atmosphere spilling out of the screen, a nice combination of science fiction with a western and a fairly dynamic, action-packed plot with an extremely calming atmosphere. MC immediately wins my sympathy, a charming sly guy and a joker, you just want to watch him.

「またな、スペースカウボーイ」って書きたくなった。第1話を見てその言葉を思い出したから。出どころを調べたら、本当にカウボーイビバップだった。
絶対に続きを見たい。ふだん見るタイプじゃないけど、物語と登場人物に引き込まれた。映像も音楽も見事。
じゃあ、またな、スペースカウボーイ。

wanted to write "see you later, space cowboy" because episode 1 reminded me of that phrase. i decided to look up where it's from. it is in fact from cowboy bebop.

i'm definitely interested in continuing the series. it's not something i'd typically watch, but the story and characters have me invested. the visual style and music are stunning too.

初めて『カウボーイビバップ』を見る。評判どおりなのか確かめたくてね。で、第1話はすごかった。90年代のリアル寄りの絵柄が、かなり好きだ。
英語吹き替え版で見てる。評判がいいと聞いたし、そのほうが気楽に見られるから。ふだんはやらないんだけどね。

First time watching Cowboy Bebop, curious to see if it lives up to it's hype. That being said, first episode was amazing and I dig the super realistic 90's art style a lot.

I'm watching the english dub since I've heard a lot of good things about it and it's easier for me to chill and just watch that way. Not something I normally do.

God I love the opening of this episode. "Bell peppers and beef."

これより強い第1話なんて、ほかに無いと思う。誰にも手加減しない世界を、こんなふうに打ち立てるとはね。

Man, I don't think there is a stronger first episode out there. What a way to establish a universe that really doesn't play favourites.

・初見。
・第1話の音楽が、かなり気に入った。これが作品全体の音楽を代表してるなら、大好きになりそう。
・主人公が好き。コミカルだけど、ちょっと凄みもある。本気になるところが早く見たい。
・この作品のことは何も知らなかった。何を期待してたのか自分でも分からないけど、賞金稼ぎの話だとは思わなかった。

最初の冒頭の場面のこと、すっかり忘れてた。もう泣かされたよ。それに、中盤のアイキャッチと題名のカードに流れる、あの短いリフも大好き。

I forgot about that very first opening scene. God, made me cry already. And I love that little riff over the mid episode break and the title card.

この作品が名作なのは、何よりも、菅野よう子がまとめ上げた音楽のおかげだと思う。あのオルゴールの小曲からして、もうそうだ。

The score Yoko Kanno managed to compile for this show is the #1 reason it's such a classic imo, starting with that music box diddy.

すべてはここから始まった。好きな回のひとつ。

ずっと前にこの回を見てから、トイレを出るときのスパイクの口笛を練習し続けてる。もう少しで完璧。

I've been perfecting Spike's whistle as he leaves the bathroom every since I saw this episode ages ago. Almost got it right.

初めて見直して、すぐに好きになったのは、新しいことに次々気づけたところだ。1回目は見落としてた細かい所。たとえばスパイクが占い師に「前に一度、女に殺されてる」みたいなことを言う場面。アクションは今見ても楽しいし、The Seatbeltsは相変わらず最高で、「Rush」がまだ頭から離れない。見直しなのに、この先が待ちきれない。いい気分だ。

What I loved instantly about my first time rewatching it was that I started to notice new things right away. Little details that before I had ignored because it was my first time. Like when Spike says, "I've already been killed by a woman once" or something along those lines to the fortune teller guy. Action Scenes are still really fun to watch, The Seatbelts are still great and I still have Rush stuck in my head. Even though it's a rewatch, I can't wait to see what's next, which is a good feeling.

第1話はもう何回見たか分からないけど、今でも色あせない。この回の敵役は憎めない……どんな動物も追い詰められれば戦うし、どんな人も状況がひどければ法を破る。あの二人は悪人じゃなかった。配られた手札が悪くて、過去に追いつかれただけなんだ。

I've lost count of the number of times i've seen the first episode, but it still holds up. i can't hate the antagonists in this episode... every animal will fight when cornered. every person will break the law when their situation is bad enough. those two weren't bad people, they just got dealt a bad hand and their past caught up with them.

お金の話をしてるときに、前の賞金首のことを言ってたよね。あれについて、前日譚の回か映画があってもよかったんじゃない？

I recall in one of their conversations they were talking about money and they mentioned their previous bounty. Should there have been a prequel or episode or movie about this?

いや、要らない。第1話は、いきなり二人の暮らしの中に放り込んでくる。二人のふだんの一日がどんなものかを見せてるんだ。

Nope. Episode 1 just drops you into their life. It shows you what an average day for them is like.

自分も初見！ ずっと後回しにしてたけど、ついに見始める時が来た！ 吹き替えで見た。たまには字幕を追わなくていいのは新鮮だ。吹き替えで何か見るのは、かなり久しぶり。
今のところ、半分現代で半分未来って雰囲気が気に入ってる。銀河をまたぐ料金所、さぞ楽しいだろうね。アクションと少しの笑いが、いい具合に混ざってる。明日の第2話が楽しみ。

Another first time watcher here! I've been putting off this show for way too long, time to finally get started! Watched the dub, kind of refreshing to not have to look at subs for once, it's been quite a while since I've watched anything dubbed.

I'm liking the half modern / futuristic feel it's got so far. Intergalactic toll gates, what fun that must be. All around good mix of action and a bit of humor, looking forward to episode two tomorrow.

OPとEDがどれだけすごいか忘れてた。思い出補正かもしれないけど、宇宙船がブースターをふかす切り替わりの場面で、作画の質がぐっと上がるのに気づいた。こういう細かいところなんだよな。『ガンダムW』をかなり思い出す。
あと、ピーマンだけ食べるなんて、きつそう。いくら金欠でも、ピーマンの代わりに何か用意できたはずだよ x.x

Forgot how amazing the OP and ED are. It might just be my rose tinted glasses, but I noticed during the transitions they have for ships revving their boosters, the animation jumps up in quality. It's the little things I guess. It reminds me a lot of Gundam Wing.

Also, eating plain bell peppers sounds horrible. I'm sure they could get something instead of bell peppers, even if they're broke x.x

それ！第1話の終わり方が大好き。ビバップ号の二人が、何事もなかったみたいに、冒頭とまったく同じことをしてる。前に進まなきゃいけないって、二人とも分かってるからなんだ。

Yes! I loved how they ended that first episode: the two of them on the 'Bebop,' doing exactly what they were doing at the beginning of the episode, as if the events had never happened, simply because they both know that they need to move on.

ジェットが、くるりとも回さずに渡したのもね。最初は、あれ練習してるんだろうなと思った。

Or how Jet passed it with no spinning. My first thought was that they must practice that or something.

かっこいいのは確かだけど、あの場面はずっと引っかかってる。船の中のほかの物は全部、人工重力があるみたいに振る舞ってるのに、あのタバコだけはふわふわ浮いていくんだ。

As cool as it is, that scene has always bothered me. Everything else in the ship acts as if it has artificial gravity and then this cigarette just goes on and floats.

このシリーズは初見。2007年にアダルトスイムで放送してたのを、毎晩1話ずつ見てたのは覚えてる。でもたぶんシリーズのど真ん中あたりだったし、中1だったから、何が起きてるのか全然分からなかった。ただ、映像のスタイルに引き込まれたのは覚えてる。
この第1話を見たら、一気見したくなるのを我慢するのが大変。この回は短編映画みたいに進んで、すごかった。敵役を人間らしく描くところも、終盤のとんでもないどんでん返しも、胸が張り裂けるラストも大好き。明日の回で何が起きるのか、すごく楽しみ！
宇宙船のデザインもかっこいいし、SFと西部劇（自分の好きなジャンル二つ）をこんなにうまく混ぜてるのが信じられない。
すごくワクワクする、待ちきれない！

First time watching this series, I remember watching it air on adult swim in 2007 and watching an episode every night but it was probably smack down in the middle of the series and i was in 7th grade so I had no idea what was happening. I remember being just drawn in to the visual style of the show.

Watching this first episode and it's hard for me to not try to binge this show. This episode played out like a short film and it was amazing. I love how they humanize the antagonist, the crazy twist near the end, and that heart breaking ending. I'm super excited to see what happens tomorrow in the show!

The ship designs are also cool and i just can't over how well the show has blended sci-fi and western (2 of my favorite genres).

Super exciting can't wait!

サントラ目当てなら、ここからもっと良くなるよ。各話にテーマがあって、題名に音楽のジャンルが入ってる。全部、100％最高。

If you are about the OST it only gets better from here. Each episode is themed, with the genre in the title, and it is all 100% fantastic.

Road to the Westは、何時間でもリピートしてられる曲の一つ。第1話のラストがすごく良かったってのも同感。

Road to the West is one of those songs I can put on repeat for hours. I agree the end of episode 1 was very good.

ほんとそれ！ずっと前に初めてこの回を見て、ジャズとこの作品を好きになった。それでRoad to the Westをレコードで探そうと決めて（親父がレコードを集めてたんだ）、やっとこの12月に手に入る。ようやく持てるのがうれしい。間違いなく、生涯で一番好きな曲の一つ！

Amen! When I first saw this episode so many years ago, it made me fall in love with jazz and this show. Back then, I decided to find Road to the West on vinyl (my dad used to collect them) and I’m only now able to get it this December but I’m glad I’ll finally have it… truly one of my all time favorite songs!

It was the episode that made me fall in love with jazz as well. One day I’ll get the vinyls and a player for them. It’s on my long list of things haha.

確かなことは分からないけど、たぶん違う。カテリーナは、このままじゃ続かないと分かってた。スパイクが、似てるけどもう少し危なくない暮らしをちらっと見せたのも確か。でも彼女はアシモフを愛してた。大事な人が完全に壊れる寸前なのを見るのは怖いことだ。組織と警察の両方に追われるストレスとブラッディアイのせいで、アシモフはもう正気じゃなかった。冷酷な人殺しに惹かれる人なんてそうはいない。たぶんアシモフも、昔からああじゃなかったんだろう。少なくとも彼女には、優しかった時期があったはず。だから彼女は、スパイクと同じくらいアシモフを救おうとしてたんだと思う。そしてその直後、どっちも救えないと悟って、自分の意思で終わりを選んだ。

I don't know for certain but probably not. She knew this was unsustainable and yes Spike offered a glimpse of perhaps a similar but less fraught life. But she loved Asimov. It's frightening to see someone you care about so close to losing control completely. And Asimov was off the deep end between the stress of being chased by both the syndicate and the police and the effects of the bloody eye. It's a rare woman who's attracted to a cold blooded killer. Presumably Asimov wasn't always like that. He was probably kind and caring at some point. At least towards her. So I imagine she was trying to save Asimov as much as Spike. And shortly after that she realized there was no saving either of them and went out on her own terms.

You put this perfectly 👌 well done! I also believe, based on the way Katerina speaks to him, that Asimov was *at one point* kind and loving towards her. That's often how these kinds of erratic relationships begin. And when she is pleading with Asimov at the end, it's almost like she's speaking to a person who isn't there. She's calling out to the old Asimov, who would never hurt her.. but that man no longer exists. Now she is in a car with a crazed maniac she doesn't even know anymore, and, like you said, made the only free choice left to her at that point: go out on her own terms.

第1話で、ビバップほど心をつかまれた作品は無い。
イージーカム・イージーゴー、これ以上の作品には出会えないだろうな。

Nothing has captured me like Bebop did on its first episode.

この回、まるで第1話じゃなくて第10話みたいに、いきなり始まるのが好き。ジェットとスパイクが「紹介」される場面は一度も無い。必要なことは全部、二人の行動とやりとりから分かるんだ。

I love how the episode just starts, as if this was episode #10 not #1. At no point are we ever "introduced" to Jet and Spike. We learn all we need to know about them through their actions and interactions.

実は、主人公が誰なのか本気で分からなかったのを覚えてる！ スパイクがアシモフとの最初の対面で負けたときは、絶対に主人公じゃないと思った。（とはいえ、主人公たちの毎週の調子をはっきり示してたけど）

I remember actually wondering who the main character actually was! And when Spike loses in his first interaction with Asimov, I certainly didn't think it was him. (though it clearly sets the tone of what's to come for the main characters on a weeky basis)

ビバップより前は、主人公がこてんぱんにやられるなんて、少なくともシリーズが終わりに近づくまでは、絶対に「ありえない」ことだった。たとえばドモン・カッシュがそうなるのは、「かなり」先まで見られない。ビバップが画期的なアニメだった例の一つだよ。

Before Bebop, it was definitely *unthinkable* that our main hero would get his ass resoundly handed to him, at least not until the series starts to come to a close. You wouldn't see it happen to [Domon Kasshu](http://gundam.wikia.com/wiki/Domon_Kasshu), for example, for a *while*. It's just another instance that Bebop was a ground-breaking anime.

スパイクの格闘の強さは並外れてるけど、第1話の終わりまでに、相当な腕の格闘家だって示されてるから納得してた。あれには鍛錬への覚悟と積み重ねが要るはずだから、その場面がそれ以上描かれなかったのは意外だな。

For how exceptional Spike is at fighting I always thought it made sense because before the end of episode 1 he’s shown to be such a skilled martial artist. That would certainly take some discipline and dedication to training so it’s surprising we never were shown more of it.

スパイクはレッドアイの件と無関係で、彼女から見れば罪のない賞金稼ぎだったから。アシモフは前にも人を殺してるはずだけど、たぶん自分を殺そうとした相手だけ。彼女が救おうとしたのはスパイクじゃなくて、アシモフだったんだ。

Because Spike wasn’t part of the red eye drug situation and, from her perspective, he was an innocent bounty hunter. I’m sure Asimov had killed before but likely only those trying to kill him. She wasn’t saving Spike, she was trying to save Asimov.

レッドアイは手に入れないとな。
この回で好きなのは、スパイクが給油所でソードフィッシュIIに給油するところ。テレビや映画で、キャラが給油所でこんなありふれた作業をしてるのはめったに見ない。
それがビバップの世界を、本物らしく作り込まれた、入り込める世界にしてる。ほんの小さな描写なのに、さりげなく効いてる。

Gotta get that redeye.

One thing I love about this episode is seeing Spike at a fuel stop refueling the Swordfish II. Very rarely in television and movies do we see characters at gas stations doing such a mundane task.

That helps paint the Bebop world as a real, fleshed out, immersive universe. Such a small detail but so impactful in a very subtle way.

The whole idea of needing and running out of fuel is very un-used and so nice to see in this series love bebop!

・シリーズ屈指の格闘シーン。
・宇宙船の見事な追跡劇。
・ビバップらしい、大きくて実存的なテーマの味見。

この回でいちばんクールなのは、アシモフが使う強化薬「ブラッディアイ」。パンチも弾丸もよけられるようになるのに、スパイクの蹴りと拳はよけきれない。

Coolest part about this episode is the enhancement drug, “Bloody Eye,” which Asimov takes, allows him to dodge punches and bullets but isn’t good enough to avoid Spike’s kicks and punches.

残念、違うよ。
最初に放送されたのは、1998年4月3日の第2話。続いて第3話、第7〜15話、第18話と特別編。『Firefly』と同じ目に遭わされたんだ。低視聴率で打ち切り。別の局で復活して、順番どおりに放送された。あとは歴史のとおり。
カウボーイビバップ20周年おめでとう。このサブレで取り上げられてるのを見かけなかったから。
でも漫画の『カウボーイビバップ シューティングスター』は、1997年9月18日に『月刊あすかファンタジーDX』で先に始まってる。アニメじゃないのは分かってるけど、カウボーイビバップの最初の何かとして、せめて触れておくべきだと思う。

The first episode aired was the second episode on April 3, 1998. Followed by, episodes 3, 7-15 snd 18 and a special. They Firefly'd it. Cancelled due to low ratings. Was brought back on another station and was aired in order. The rest is history.

Congratulations on Cowboy Bebop's 20th year of existence. I didn't see it listed on this subreddit.
But CB: Shooting Star first appeared in Monthly Asuka Fantasy DX on September 18, 1997.
I know it's not the anime but the first CB anything should at least be acknowledged.

1) スパイクを気に入ってた。いい人っぽいし、笑わせてくれたから。
2) 愛する男が、スパイクを冷酷に殺そうとしてた。だから止めるしかなかった。いわば、一線を越える前に。それに逃亡中なんだから、これ以上目をつけられるのは何より避けたかった。

1) She liked Spike, who seemed like a nice guy and had made her laugh.

2) The man she loved was about to kill Spike in cold blood so she had to stop him. She had to stop him before he went over the edge so to speak. Besides, they were on the run and the last thing they needed was more heat on them.

カテリーナとアシモフが死ぬ場面は、たぶんこの作品で一番鮮烈な場面の一つだって、みんな同意してくれると思う。数か月前に初めて見て、彼女の最期に胸が張り裂けそうだった。それでも作品への入り口としては最高だったし、ここからさらに良くなるのは間違いないと思う。

I think most of us can agree that the scene where Katerina and Asimov die is possibly one of the most vivid scenes in the show. I first watched the show a couple of months ago, and I was heartbroken at her fate. However, it was still a great introduction to the show, and I think it definitely improves from here.

When Spike is on top of the car fighting off those guys using only his feet with his hands in his pockets, so much awesome.

His hands most definitely are not in his pockets during that scene. That would look absolutely awful and cheesy.

Are you sure about the Asimov and Katerina/Desperado link? Seems like a stretch to me, I've been a fan since the show's debut in the US and I can't make the connection between the two. I just don't see it.

You really can't create any link between the two? I mean, it seems pretty obvious to me that it was indeed an inspiration for both characters. Comparing Asimov's hair to the main character in Desperado alone should be enough to indicate some correlation.

短いやりとりの間に、スパイクを気に入ったんだと思う。笑って気が楽になれたのは、たぶん久しぶりだったんだろう。

I think she gained a liking for him during their brief confrontation. It was probably the first time in a while where she laughed and felt at ease.

地元で放送が始まったころはまだ子どもで、題名を見て、なんか変な名前だと思ったのを覚えてる。主題歌が流れてきて「いや、これは自分向きじゃないな」と思った。でもその回を見たら、一気にハマった。今でもいちばん好きな作品だし、もちろん音楽も全部大好き。だから、気持ちは分かるよ！

I was sorta young when the show premiered on tv in my area and I remember seeing the title and thinking it sounded stupid. The title song came on and I thought "nah this isn't for me" . I watched that episode and was hooked immediately. Still my favorite show and of course I love all the music. So ya, I feel ya!

なんてこった、この回のスパイクはクールがあふれすぎてる。見ててすごく楽しい回だ。大きな筋に焦点を当てない回は、そのぶん滑らかな格闘の場面をすごく丁寧に作ってくれるのが好き。まさに水のように 🙂

Jesus Christ Spike just oozes an excessive amount of cool in this episode. A real fun episode to watch, I love how when the writers don't focus an episode on the overarching plot, they make up for it with really well done fight scenes which are smooth. Like Water :).

格闘の場面は、作画もスタイルも最初から最後まで素晴らしい。いちばん印象に残るのは、トイレを出ていくスパイクの口笛から、アイキャッチに入るところ。さりげないのに効果的に、スパイクの人物像を作ってると思う。

Great animation & style throughout the fight scene. What stands out the most is the whistling when Spike's leaving the bathroom going into the break. To me, it helps set up Spike's character in a subtle, but effective way.

それは「N.Y. Rush」じゃなくて、ただの「Rush」。「N.Y. Rush」はもっとなめらかな曲だから、あの場面には合わない。でも、使われてる第19話の終わりのほうの場面には合ってる。

It's not N.Y. Rush. It's just Rush. N.Y. Rush is much more smooth and wouldn't have fit the scene. It does, however, fit the scene toward the end of episode 19 where it is used.

この第1話には、いちばん好きな格闘の場面がある（スパイクとレッドアイの男）。ほとんどは、そのとき流れる曲のおかげ。完璧すぎる。

This first episode has my favorite fight scene in it (Spike and redeye dude) Mostly because of the song that plays while it happens. It's so perfect.

英語吹き替え版のアシモフ役、カーク・ソーントンが大好き。口数は多くないけど十分すごみがあって、この作品で最初の、本当にすごい格闘シーンの一つを作ってくれた。物語の始まりとしても、スパイクとジェットの紹介としても最高。

I love Kirk Thornton as Asimov, he doesn't say a whole lot but he was menacing enough and made for one of the first really great fight scenes in the show. Great way to start the story and introduce Spike and Jet.

この回は、カテリーナとスパイクのやりとりが前から好きだ。ちょっといい雰囲気だとずっと思ってた。スティーブ・ブラムの言うとおり、ここのスパイクは少し弱さも見せてる。それに最後の「アディオス」！ 最高だ。

I've always like this episode for the interaction between Katrina and Spike. I had always thought they were a little flirty. Steve Blum is right, Spike exhibits a little vulnerability here as well. And that "Adios" at the end! Superb!

この作品にハマった決め手は、この回の素手の格闘。作画がとても滑らかで、カメラの動きもそれを完璧に引き立ててる。

What sold me on this show was the fist fight in this episode, the animation is so fluid and the camera movement compliments it perfectly.

自分にとって第1話はずっとお気に入りで、ベスト5の回に間違いなく入る。カウボーイビバップをビバップたらしめているものを、見事に全部まとめてる。アクション、話、アクション、そしてもちろん音楽。人をこの作品にハマらせる最高の方法だ。

To me episode one is always a favorite of mine, definitely in my top five episodes. It dose such a amazing job at combining everything that makes cowboy bebop, well bebop. The action, plot, action and defiantly them music, a great way to get people hooked on the show.

友達の家で一日の大半を過ごして、夜遅くに寮へ歩いて帰ってた。くたくたで、なんとなくこの口笛をそのまま吹き始めたんだ。周りには誰もいなくて、前に男が一人歩いてたんだけど……その人、小走りで離れていった。思ったより威圧感があるらしい。

I was walking back to my dorm late one night after spending most of the day at a friends house. I was really exhausted, and for no particular reason, started to do this exact whistle. There was a guy walking in front of me with no one else around...he started jogging away after...guess it's more intimidating than I thought.

格闘の場面で、スパイクの足元を映すところが好き。音楽に合わせて踊ってるみたいなんだ。

I love during the fight scene how they show Spike's feet moving around, like he is dancing to the music.

第1話のいきなり走り出す感じが、ずっと好きなんだ。説明で頭をぶん殴ってこない。ただ見せるだけ。「ほら、こいつらだ。ついて来いよ」って。

I've always loved the 'hit-the-ground-running' sort of style the first episode has. You're not bludgeoned over the head with exposition, you're just shown; 'Look, here are some guys. Do keep up.'

ティファナがダイソン球っぽいってのは、同じことを思った。前から気づいてはいたけど、地球の町としてはずいぶん変だってことには、思い至らなかった。

I had that same thought about Tijuana looking like a Dyson sphere. I noticed it before, but never realized how weird it was for an Earth city

他の作品ですぐ浮かぶのは、やっぱり『Firefly』。漂流する「Out of Gas」っていう回がまるごとある。『BSG（バトルスター・ギャラクティカ）』にも、1期に燃料を採るための小惑星を探す回がある。
でも大筋は同感。宇宙船って燃料が無限みたいで、描かれることも話題になることもまずない。

What immediately comes to mind in another show is (go figure) - Firefly. Entire episode titled "Out of Gas" where they're drifting. BSG also has an episode in the first season where they're looking for an asteroid to mine fuel from.

But in general, I agree, spaceships just have seem to have unlimited space fuel, and it's rarely shown/discussed.

スパイクとジェットは、結局最初の所へ戻るんだよね。鍛錬と、チンジャオロースの料理。言うとおり、スパイクの心の状態を表してると思う。気を紛らわすためか、考えを整理するためか。違うのは、食べ物への興味が薄れて、少し内にこもって見えること。カテリーナの死の悲しみを押し殺してる描写かもしれない。そう考えると、回想から冒頭のカットへのつながりも、スパイクが自分の過去への気持ち全体を整理してる場面だってことになる。

He and Jet do end up right back where they were at the beginning- training and cooking bell peppers and beef. I do think it says something about his mental state as you’re saying- maybe a distraction or a way of processing his thoughts. The only difference is that he seems to be less interested in food, maybe more withdrawn. It could be a way of showing him tamping down his sadness over Katerina’s death, which would make the cut from the flashback to the shot at the beginning to be him processing his feelings of his past in general.
