How can Lakan recognize Lahan and Luomen, if he can only see Maomao and Fengxian's faces.
In the first season we're told that he recognizes Jinshi only when he's in hus office.
Are Luomen and Lahan very rare pieces, that he can recognize even in places where it isn't normal to find them?

正直、自分を誇りに思うし、/a/ もよくやったと思う。あれをネタバレされずに済んだ。何度か wiki で調べものはしたけど、なぜか目に入らなかった。自分で気づけたかもしれないけど、作品を深読みすることはなくて、だいたいただ流れを楽しんでたから。

I'm actually proud of myself, and of /a/ as well, that I wasn't spoiled on that. I've been on the wiki few times checking some stuff, but somehow missed it. I probably could have figured it out on my own, but I was never overanalyzing stuff from the show, I mostly just enjoy the ride.

ここ最近の回は、猫猫の役回りがすごく無理やりに感じる。驚いたことに、この編では猫猫がいちばん弱い部分になってる。猫猫のふざけた態度は毎週の謎解きの形式なら合うけど、この筋になると浮きまくってる。

I feel Maomao's role is very forced in these last episodes. She's shockingly been the weakest part of this arc for me. Her unserious attitude works with the mystery-of-the-week format but when it comes to this plot it just feels so out of place.

This is somewhat hard to believe. I guess she's supposed to be a spin on Wu Zetian, the Chinese Bloody Mary. But Wu Zetian was an empress, and as cutthroat as she was with anyone who looked at her funny, she was also a great ruler. But how is this hag allowed to act in such fashion and start an entire rebellion against the emperor? She's not in a position to do such things, especially not openly.

Suirei and Loulan just kidnapped the very prominent General Lakan's daughter and took her into the heart of the rebellion. Lakan doesn't give a single s**t about another rebellion unless the Emperor dispatches him to take it down, but this one just got blown up because they pissed him off and took his daughter. since Shenmei doesn't know anything about Maomao, does that mean Maomao wasn't actually part of the plan, and that's just something Loulan and Shisui decided by themselves (probably ruining the plan by doing that)

神美はそもそもあんまり正気じゃなさそうだった。宮中でのゴタゴタは主にあの古狸の仕業で、猫猫を連れてきたのは、嗅ぎ回りすぎてたからだと思う。

Shenmei didn't seem to be that sane to begin with. I'm guessing that all the shenanigans at the court were mostly the old tanuki's doing and taking Maomao was done mostly because she was smiffing around too much.
Bringing her along and inadvertetly making Lakan, Jinshi and big E on top of it really f*****g mad was probably a side effect.

羅漢と壬氏の場面は、今シーズンでいちばん好きな場面かもしれない。
最高の映画（Absolute cinema）。罵倒、膝をつくところ、そして頼みごとの中でさえ、羅漢は「宦官の壬氏」の陰に隠れてる壬氏を責めてみせる。

The Lakan/Jinshi scene might be my favourite scene of this season so far.
Absolute cinema. The insults, the kneeling, and then even in his request, Lakan manages a way to call out Jinshi for hiding behind the "eunuch Jinshi".

even in his request, Lakan manages a way to call out Jinshi for hiding behind the "eunuch Jinshi"
As someone that sees faces as game pieces based on the role they should play, it must annoy Lakan something fierce to see Jinshi playing a role below his true station. Even without his daughter's involvement in the palace he would have probably disapproved of the man.

羅漢「お前は盤上で最も価値のある駒のひとつだ。そろそろそれらしく振る舞え。特に、どんな駒よりも価値のある者のために」

Lakan: "You're one of the most valuable pieces on the board and it's time you started acting like it, especially for the sake of someone who is worth more than any game piece."

「俺は娘のためなら中国の半分を焼き払うぞ、なのにお前は宦官のふりをやめることすらしないのか！」

"I would burn down half of China for my daughter and you won't even stop pretending to be a eunuch!"

壬氏「おっしゃるとおりです。皇弟として振る舞う時が来ました。ところで、皇弟となった今、妃を迎えなければなりません。そして今、身分が高くて決まった相手のいない若い女性は、一人しかいない」
羅漢「やっぱりいい。宦官に戻れ」

Jinshi: You're right. Its time I start acting as the crown prince. Speaking of which, I'll need to get a consort now that I'm prince. And there's currently only one high ranking young woman not currently in a relationship.
Lakan: Never mind. Go back to being a eunuch

羅漢「…なんなら処置も手伝ってやる」

Lakan: ...I'll even assist with the procedure.

それに、羅漢が駒（将棋／シャンチー）として見えるのは本当に才能のある人間だけで、前のシーズンで見たように、壬氏も高順もちゃんと駒に見えてる。しかも下っ端の駒じゃない。

And remember, he only see people who actually have real talent as chess(shogi/xiàngqí) pieces and as we have seen last season both Jinshi and Gaoshun are ones and not low-ranking one.

あの場面の色使いは見事だった。危険を表す赤の中に希望の光が差し込むのに、そのどれも壬氏には映ってない。壬氏はこれから大暴れするぞ

The use of colour in that scene was sublime. The red to symbolise danger while the light of hope filters in, but none of it reflected on Jinshi. He's going to f**k s**t up

間違いなく、いちばん力強くて胸に響く場面だったと思う。
「月の君」への盛り上げ方が最高。あれ以外のやり方では、あそこまでの重みと壮大さは出せなかったと思う。

That was definitely the most powerful and emotional one, I think.
Superb buildup to "Moon Prince", I don't think it could have gone any other way and achieved that level of gravitas and immensity.

壬氏は今シーズン後半のほとんどで自分を疑ってた。仮面を被り続ける必要（どんどん保てなくなってきてる）、自分の無力さ、自分に本当に何かを成し遂げられるのか…そして、あれほど大切な人を失った責任。
でも今、ついに本当の自分を受け入れて、国のため、猫猫のために、なるべき自分になれる状況がやってきた。

Jinshi had been doubting himself for most of the second half of this season, the necessity of his mask (which he's been struggling more and more to maintain), struggling with his powerlessness and whether there's things he can truly accomplish...and the blame for losing someone so important to him.
But now a situation has presented itself that lets him finally embrace his truth and be the person he was meant to be for the sake of his nation and for Maomao.

羅漢が感情的になったのも驚きだけど、羅門に諭されたあと、膝をついて皇弟としての壬氏に動いてくれと頼んだのは、衝撃的で強烈だった。
それに、母親に何が起きてるのか知らないままの響迂の境遇を見るのは、ただただ気が滅入った。

Lakan getting emotional was one thing but after being advised by Luomen, him getting on his knees to ask for Jinshi the prince to act was just as shocking as it was impactful.
Also seeing Kyou-u's circumstances while being oblivious to whats going on with his mom was just depressing.

羅漢にまで敬われる羅門の存在感が本当にすごい。
見るからに弱々しい年寄りの羅門が、誰もが恐れる天才軍師をあっさりたしなめる。
ほんとにこの作品が大好きだ。

The amount of respect that Luomen commands even from Lakan is absolutely amazing.
Luomen, the seemingly feeble, weak old man easily schooling the Master Strategist everyone is afraid of.
God I love this show.

記憶違いか、羅門が話を変えたのかもしれないけど、羅門が猫猫に父親の症状のことを話したとき、ぼやけた顔のまま生きるんじゃなくて、人を将棋や碁の駒として見る方法を誰かが羅漢に教えたって言ってたよな。それを教えたのが羅門だった可能性はある？ 確かめずに言うけど、羅門は似た症状を持つ別の身内が教えたって言ってた気がする。でも実は羅門が、自分の経験から教えたのかも。羅漢が羅門をとんでもなく尊敬してるのは明らかだし。

Maybe I’m not remembering correctly or Luomen altered his story but when Luomen told MaoMao about her father’s condition, he mentioned someone taught Lakan how to view people as chess/go pieces instead of just living with the blurred faces. Is it possible Luomen was the person that taught Lakan this? Without checking I think Luomen said it was another family member with a similar affliction that taught Lakan but maybe Luomen actually did with that experience. It’s clear Lakan has crazy levels of respect for him.

Lakan seems to only respect two things - intelligence and family. Luomen is in both groups pretty solidly in Lakan's view. On top of being so smart, he's also the main one who actually treated Lakan kindly from the family.

それに小説と漫画の売れ行き、テレビの視聴率、あれだけのコラボ…なにしろ東宝の公式サイトのトップページで、「アニメ＆ゲーム」の欄の最初に出てくるんだぞ。大きなIPなんだよ。
3期の心配はいらないと思う。（まあ、毎年1シーズンずつ出し続けるなら、制作のほうは心配かもしれないけど）

And given how well the LN and manga sell, plus the TV ratings, plus all the collaborations... hell, it's the first thing you can see under the "animation & games" section on the home page of Toho's official website. It's a major IP.
I don't think we need to worry about season 3. (Well, maybe its production if they keep pumping out a season every year.)
