They'll never forget it! These are the formative years!!!). There's a few good character moments. It was fine enough if you already like the series.

スポーツ系ラブコメでもなきゃ、デートでスポーツ用品店なんか行かないし、男主人公が水着以外のスポーツウェア姿のヒロインを妄想したりもしないよな。
今回は早速、嫌な奴を出してきた。松岡ってほんと嫌な奴。唯一の救いは、店で会ったもう一人の奴と違って千夏の前で雛の名前を出さなかったことくらいだ。
それにしても夢佳が、バスケ以外のことにうつつを抜かしてるって千夏を責めるのはどの口が言うんだよ。こっちが知る限り、本人もバスケを辞めてるのに。

Only in a sports-romance anime do dates actually happen in sports apparel stores, and the male MC fantasizes about the female MC being in sports clothing other than swimwear/a bikini.
They waste no time introducing antagonists here. Matsuoka is such a jerk. His only saving grace here is that he doesn't mention Hina in front of Chinatsu, unlike the other guy when they were at the store.
And wow, Yumeka sure is one to talk accusing Chinatsu focusing on other things than basketball, when--as far as we know--she herself also gave up on basketball.

Right when Taiki was gonna confess, this mysterious Yumeka has to pop up. I’m guessing there’s some bad blood here with Chinatsu? I wonder what went down between those two?

夢佳編は原作でいちばん好きじゃないところなんだよな。メインの二人への興味が冷めて、匡と菖蒲のほうを追いかけるようになったのがここだった。とはいえ、たぶん今期の最終盤になる雪の中の告白シーンは屈指の美しさだから、アニメで観るのが待ちきれない。

Yumeka arc is my least favourite part of the story. It was when I checked out of the main couple and started focusing on [manga]>!Ko and Ayame!<. That said, what will likely be the finale of this season the [manga]>!snow confession scene!< is one of the most beautiful and I can't wait to see it animated.

Meanwhile, Yumeka also seemed to be trouble, though not in terms of love rival seeing as she's already in a relationship of her own. She looked happy while posing with the trophy and Chii, but now antagonised her while making a quip about giving basketball up. What happened to her?

Reckon the giving basketball up remark was projection, so something must have had happened to Yumeka which caused her to leave basketball.

お、2期は吹き替えが同時配信なのか。1期は放送が終わったころに観たんだけど、そのときはまだ字幕しかなかった（吹き替えが出てからもう一回観た）。あとこの作品は自分がアニメのラブコメにハマるきっかけだったから、2期でまた戻ってこられて嬉しい。
うわ、バレー部の奴が雛の話を持ち出して千夏に聞かれた……そして今度は、しばらく海外にいたっていうウザいバスケ男の登場。デートで大喜があらゆる邪魔に遭いまくってる。こいつの股間にパンチ入れたいわ。あとなんで千夏はあのクズの向かいに座ってるんだよ。もうちょっと分かっててくれよ千夏。
あのアップルパイうまそう。フォークで生地を割る音とか……ああもうアップルパイが食べたくなった。
はぁ。こいつが今期ずっと絡んでくるなら、1期より楽しめなくなりそう。恋のライバルとして面白みがない。針生が千夏先輩を好きなのかもって匂わされたときは、針生は楽しかったし面白かったのに。で、大喜は自分から千夏を譲る気かよ。勘弁してくれ。
よかった、千夏はバカじゃなかった。
また第1話のセルフオマージュ。最初は千夏に会いに走っていくところが第1話の冒頭みたいで、今度は体育館の外みたいに千夏を温めてあげるやつ。ちゃんとそこを拾ってくれたのが嬉しい。
これが予告に出てた子か。1話か3話くらい観て、どう思うか見てみよう。

Oh hey simuldub for season 2, I watched s1 right around the time it finished airing and it was still only available in subtitles (then watched it again in dub when that dropped). Also this was my gateway drug to anime romances so nice to come back to it with S2.

Oh no volleyball boy brought up Hina and Chinatsu heard... And now we've got the annoying overseas for a while basketball guy. Taiki running into all kinds of resistance on the date. Yeah I wanna punch this guy in the nuts. Also why is she sitting across from s**t bag, god Chinatsu should know better.

Okay that apple pie looks great and the sound of the fork breaking through the crust... god I want apple pie now.

Sigh. If this guy's actually going to be an ongoing issue this season I think I'm going to enjoy this season less than the first, he's not an interesting love rival. At least when we were teased about Haryu supposedly liking Chi he was fun and interesting. So Taiki is going to NTR himself. God damn it.

Another callback to episode 1. First the way he was running to meet Chinatsu being like the start of episode 1, now the keeping her warm thing like outside the gym. And I'm glad they called it out.

So this is the chick from the trailers. Lets see how I feel about her in an episode or three.

いい初回だった。全体的にゆったりしてて、ちょいちょい入る邪魔のおかげでずっと面白くて記憶に残る回になってたのがいい。夢佳に何があって、なんで急に辞めたのか気になる。
1期のことはあまり覚えてないから、こういう回想や振り返りがあると助かる。嫌いな人がいるのも分かるけど。

Great first episode. I like how chill it was and the occasional interference made it much more interesting and memorable. I wonder what’s going on with Yumeka and why she suddenly quit.

I don’t remember much of season 1 so having these flashbacks and reintroductions helps me but I understand if other dislike them.

大喜と千夏が近づくとデフォルメ顔になるのって、漫画でも昔からあんな感じだったっけ？ある程度なら平気だけど、多すぎるとかえって可愛さが減る気がする。
大喜が千夏にバスケの練習に行けって勧めたのには驚いた。あとアップルパイを切り分けて千夏に分けもせずにガツガツ平らげたのにも驚いた。そうしてればあのもう一人の男にも牽制になっただろうに。その後で「恋愛する時間なんてあるの？」なんて和製英語まじりで言わせる隙も与えずにさ。
千夏の側はまだこの関係にためらいがあるみたいで、試着室のカーテンの向こうにいるのは蝶野さんかってクラスメイトが聞いてるのを耳にしちゃってた。
写真に写ってたもう一人の子はなんで辞めたんだろう。人生は短いって気づいて、好きに恋愛でもしながら自由に生きたくなったのかもな。

Did the manga always have the super deformed looks when Taiki and Chinatsu became closer? I can only stomach some of it, but too much of it makes it less cute imo.

I'm shocked he encouraged her to go to the basketball practice. I'm also shocked he wolfed down that apple pie without cutting a slice and offering it to Chinatsu. That would have sent a message to that other guy, rather than have him speak in Japan-glish later on "do you even have time for romance?"

For her side, Chinatsu still has reservations about her relationship, overhearing a classmate ask if it's Chono-san behind the fitting room curtain.

Wonder why the other girl in the photo quit. Perhaps she realized life's too short and wanted to have a more free lifestyle, dating as she pleased.

順調だったのに、この男が現れて空気をぶち壊した。千夏はめちゃくちゃはしゃいでたのに、大喜とクラスメイトの会話を耳にしてから急に意識し始めちゃった。
さらに悪いことに、二人がくつろごうとしたカフェに松岡までいて、大喜はまったく黙らないこいつと張り合う羽目に。まあ大喜はそんなことしなくてもよかったんだけどな。アップルパイを平らげてるとき、千夏の目はしっかり大喜に向いてたし。
大喜に勧められても千夏が松岡とバスケの練習に行かなかったのが本当に嬉しい。松岡の相手をするより、大喜と一緒に帰りたかったんだよな。<3
しかもデートはまだ終わらない！大喜は千夏を渋谷スカイの展望台に連れていって、夜景を見るロマンチックな夜に。正直、最初に思ったのは「あの時間帯なら混んでるはずだろ」だったんだけど、ちゃんと展望台の残りがカップルや家族連れで埋まってるのを見せてくれてて最高。xD
千夏と二人きりの時間で、松岡の割り込みのぶんは十分取り返したな。で、大喜がようやく告白しようとしたその瞬間、千夏の昔の友達でチームメイトだった子が邪魔しに現れる >_<
おおっと！原作既読者として、ついに夢佳が登場して嬉しい。ここからが、千夏がようやく物語でもっと能動的に動き出すパートなんだよ。

Has he appeared before? I didn't recognize him at all. With his gray hair and pink sweater vest I thought he was some old man. With the way the other ladies in the cafe were looking at him I wouldn't be surprised if he was trying to punch above his weight by looking old on purpose. I'm disappointed that Taiki and Chi let him get away with breaking up their date.

I don't remember much about him but he was there when they all went to the training camp and he first called Taiki her fan back then.

普段は変な英語が出てくるとクスッとするんだけど、こいつはあまりにムカつくから、それすら微笑ましく思えなかった（声優さんはちゃんとうまく演じてたけど）

I normally find myself chuckling whenever Engrish is spoken but this dude was too insufferable for even that to be charming (VA still delivered the lines well though)

大喜より英語を知ってるってことで知的マウントを取ろうとしてるのに、発音がめちゃくちゃなのがちょっと笑える。

It is kind of funny knowing he's trying to show off his superior intellect by knowing more English than Taiki and then the pronunciation is so off.

正直、今回は「どうやって進展を引き延ばして脱線させるか」って感じだった。わざとらしい作られたドラマだよ。切るかもしれない。作画がどれだけ良くても、前の2クールでほとんど何も起きなかったのを思い出したし、今期もその流れが続きそうだから

honestly this episode felt like how can we prolong and derail any progression? I know, manufactured drama bs, maybe I will drop it cause no matter how good the visuals are I am now remembering that almost nothing happened in the past 2 cours and it seems this trend will continue in this season

I just love Taiki and Chinatsu just chancing upon Yumeka also on a date as well at the exact same location. It's the surprise double date from Hell lol.

千夏と大喜がどっちも受け身すぎて松岡をあしらえないのを見るのはしんどい。二人ともあいつにいてほしくないのに、まだ付き合ってるわけじゃないから何も言えなくて、あいつが会話を好き勝手に仕切っちゃう。千夏があいつを置いてきて、その後二人でデートを続けてくれて本当によかった。このデートは前のシーズンからずっと待ってたから、あんな終わり方だったら最悪だった。にしても、最後までに3人も別々の人間が大事なところでデートに割り込んできたな。あいつらがいなかったら今期まるごと飛ばせてたかもしれないぞ。

Man it hurts seeing Chinatsu and Taiki both being too passive to deal with Matsu. Neither of them really want him there, but its not like they are dating yet so they can't say anything and he just steamrolls the conversation. So glad she ditched him and they continued their date afterwards, I was waiting for this date since last season and it would have sucked for it to end like that. seriously though like 3 different people interrupted their date by the end at critical moments. We might have skipped the whole season without them.

千夏にも何か言ってほしかったけど、試着室にいるとき、あの男のせいで大喜が雛と付き合ってるって思い込まされてなければ言ってたかもな。誤解だらけのすごく繊細な状況だし、二人は一緒に住んでるから、ちょっとでも判断を誤ると気まずくなる。大喜に背中を押されたのにあの男を置いて大喜を探しに行ったことで、ちゃんと埋め合わせはしてた。

I did want Chinatsu to say something too, perhaps she would have if that guy didn't make her think Taiki is dating Hina when she was in the changing rooms. It's a very delicate situation with the misunderstandings going on and they do live together so any critical misjudgement would make things awkward. She made up for it by ditching the guy even after Taiki pushed her into it and looking for him.

前のシーズンの終わり方からして、雛にも物語での役割はあると思う。大喜との話は終わったから、さすがにもう大きな役じゃないだろうけど、主人公の親友であることには変わりないし、あっさり消えるわけにはいかない。あと紫の髪の子（名前忘れた）がOPとEDに出てるし、二人はすごく仲がいいから、雛にも出番はありそう

I mean, after how last season ended I'd guess that she will have a role in the story. Surely not a major role anymore, because her story arc with taiki ended, but she's still the mc's best friend, she can't simply dissapear. Also the purple haired girl (forgot her name) is in the OP and ED, so because the 2 characters are so close she'll probably have some moments too

同意だけど、松岡は大喜の弱いところを突いて自信をなくさせたんだよ。大喜は千夏が自分より上の選手だって分かってるし、自分より上手い大学生から学べるチャンスを逃してほしくなかったんだと思う。今回は誤解だらけだった。服屋に来た男が試着室にいるのは雛かって大喜に聞いて千夏をモヤモヤさせたのに始まって、松岡が大喜に嫌味を飛ばして、夢佳が千夏にいろいろ言うところまで。

i agree but Matsuoka kind of hit his vulnerabilities, making himself doubt and second guess himself and he knows Chinatsu is a better athlete than he is and he didn't want her to lose out on the opportunity to learn from college students who are better, its a lot of misunderstandings in this episode from the guy showing up at the clothing store asking Taiki if that was Hina in the changing room which made Chinatsu upset to Matsuoka throwing shots at Taiki to Yumeka saying things to Chinatsu.

そもそも続編が来るとは思ってなかった。1期はきれいに終わってたし、驚くほどうまくまとめてたから。2期が1期の後始末をするだけにならないといいな。手始めに、あのどこの誰かも分からない奴が本当にウザい。二人がすぐカフェを出なかったのが意外だった。自分はあのキャラを覚えてないけど、二人は知り合いみたいだな。

I didn't really expect this to get a sequel at all, because S1 felt quite finished and was handled surprisingly well. Let's hope that S2 won't just be there to deal with the fallout of what happened in S1. For starters, that random nobody is really annoying. I'm surprised that they didn't leave the café immediately. I may not remember that character, but they seem to know him.

The guy really was soo annoying. I wish Chinatsu wasn't so passive and almost air-headed (not sure if this is the right term for what Im thinking of) though but it always feels like she completely ignores the conversation or doesn't speak up - I'm glad we are finally getting to what seems to be character development for her and her POV/past. Maybe I'm still bitter about Hina as she's still best girl for me lol

目に付くぎこちないカットやアングルも確かにあった。特にタワーの上とか横顔のところ。
新キャラにはすごく興味ある！これでやっと、千夏に足りなかった過去の掘り下げや成長が描かれるといいな。

There were definitely some noticeable awkward shots and angles, especially up on the tower or the side profiles.
I'm super interested in this new character! I hope it'll finally add some much needed backstory and development for Chinatsu.

Matsuoka, at least the NPC classmate it's not being annoying for the sake of it and Yumeka seems to have some reasons to be the way she is. Meanwhile Matsuoka is just an asshole

デートに行ったら、空気をぶち壊す嫌な奴に次から次へと出くわすなんて想像してみろよ。特に松岡は本当に腹が立った。でも、千夏がアップルパイを食べる大喜の反応を見てるのに松岡が気づいた瞬間はすごく良かった。
大喜と千夏の関係性が大好き。二人とも経験がなくて、まだ手探りだからこそのぎこちなさがあるのに、お互いがそばにいることに安心してるのがはっきり分かるんだよな。

Imagine going on a date and just constantly running into assholes who ruin the mood. Matsuoka in particular was so aggravating. I really did like the moment where he clocked that Chinatsu was watching Taiki’s reaction to the apple pie, though.
I really like Taiki and Chinatsu’s dynamic, where there’s that awkwardness from them both being inexperienced and still feeling things out, but they also clearly find comfort in each other’s presence.
