正直、アニメ制作側は阿賀沢紅茶さんと真っ向から食い違ったり、勝手に話を足したりせずに、平と東をできる限り守ろうとしてくれた気がする。曖昧さを生みそうなところを戦略的に削って、見せ方を工夫してな。

It honestly feels like the anime production did its best to preserve Tairazuma without outright having to contradict Agasawa and invent stuff of their own, by strategically cutting stuff that could create ambiguity and framing things in the right way.

わがままを言うと、第1話の谷視点をやるならもっと早くやってほしかった。最終回の半分が見たことのある場面なのはちょっと物足りない。残りはすごく可愛かったけどね。このおバカたちをもう見られないのは寂しいけど、物語にははっきりした終わりがあるほうが好きだから、みんなにちゃんとした結末があってよかった。

Selfishly I wish if we were going to get the Tani POV from episode 1 it would've been earlier. Feels slightly empty having half of the last episode be stuff I'd seen before, though the rest was adorable. Sad we don't get any more of the goobers but I prefer stories to have a definitive end so I'm thankful we got one for the crew.

this is my gripe too. wish we had another episode for the epilogue if we were gonna do the Tani POV.

自分も何でだろうと思う。最初に第1話を見たとき、谷がなぜ鈴木を好きになったのか分からなかった。当時はちょっと急すぎると思ったけど、二人の関係の進展に注目して見てた。この話が第2話だったら、最初から積み重ねや理屈がもっとよく分かったはず。
そうすれば最終回で、今まで見たことのない新しいものを見せられたのに。

I wonder why too. When I first watched the 1st episode, I didn't understand why Tani had feelings for Suzuki. Back then, I thought it was kind of rushed, but I just focused on their development. If this episode had been the 2nd episode, I would've understood the buildup and the logic behind it better from the start.
And let this finale actually be something new that we haven't seen before.

For coping TairAzuma fans like myself, their VAs released this cover which premiered an hour ago so they knew exactly what they're doing

このアニメがすごく恋しくなる。ふわふわしたラブコメは好きじゃないんだけど、『正反対』は違った。キャラがすごく魅力的で、やり取りが最高だったし、ちょっと真面目になる場面もあった。唯一の欠点は、毎回見終わるたびに「くそ、俺って青春を無駄にしたよな？」って考えずにいられなかったこと

I'm gonna miss this anime so much. Although I'm not into fluffy ROM COMS, Polar Opposites was different. The characters were so charismatic, their interactions were excellent and even had moments when things got a little serious. The only downside is that at the end of each episode I couldn't stop thinking "damn, I wasted my youth didn't I?"

うまくいってるのは、作者が信じられる性格や動機や心理を持ったキャラを作るのが上手いからだし、多くのふわふわした恋愛ものが忘れてるか十分に描いてないもの、つまりカップル同士の「友情」を忘れてないからだよ。

It works because it's author is great at creating characters with believable personalities/motivation/psychology and doesn't forget one thing many fluffy romances forget or don't emphasizes enough, "friendship" between partners.

この作品にはずっと続いてほしかった…でも良いものにはいつか終わりが来る。平と東がくっついたって確証は無かったけど、二人とも幸せそうなのを見られただけで十分。高校を卒業して、みんなが大人になってそれぞれの生活を送ってるのはほろ苦い瞬間だった。
ここしばらく見た恋愛アニメの中でたぶん最高の一つ。『正反対』と『氷の城壁』で、阿賀沢紅茶さんは自分の中で青春恋愛ものの達人として確定した。次の作品を心待ちにしてる。

I wanted this show to go on forever...but all good things have to come to an end. We didn't really get a confirmation of the Tairazuma ship setting sail, but seeing the both of them happy is good enough. Everyone being grown up and leading adult lives after high school is a bittersweet moment.
Probably one of the best romance anime I've seen in a long while. Seihantai, along with Ramparts, has cemented, in my mind, Agasawa Koucha as a teenage romance master. I'm eagerly awaiting her next work.

平が団子に気づかずに東を見つめてるシーンは、こいつが東に恋に落ちてるってはっきり示してるんだよ！！！思い出してほしいんだけど、これまでの24話で平は東を「一人の人間として」意識する感情を一度も見せてこなかった。これは平と東にとって大きな前進だし、誰が何と言おうと考えは変わらないぞ！

The scene that Taira stares at Azuma without noticing his dango is a clear indication that this guy FALLS IN LOVE WITH HER!!! Please note that in the previous 24 episodes Taira has NEVER expressed anything towards Azuma as A PERSON. This is a MAJOR BREAKTHROUGH on Tairazuma and nobody can convince me against it!

Idk the scene of Azuma telling Sato about Taira (I’m assuming) in the montage seems to confirm it for me! I don’t think Azuma would blush while telling her if it didn’t go anywhere.

漫画だとドライブのシーンはもっと会話があって焦点も当たってる。そこから見て、今のところ付き合ってないのは明らか。将来どうなるかはまた別の話だけどね。

In the manga the car ride has more dialogue an focus; it's clear from that, that they are not currently dating. What happens in the future is another thing though.

平と東が卒業後も一緒に遊んでるのは嬉しいけど、二人がくっついたって確証が欲しい。平が自然に笑えるようになってるのは良かった。物語を通しての成長が出てる。
谷が鈴木を好きになった経緯の谷視点も良かった！

I’m happy that Taira and Azuma still hangs out after graduation, but I want a confirmation that the TairAzuma ship sailed. Taira being able to naturally smile is great, shows his development over the story.
Tani’s POV on how he ended up liking Suzuki was great too!

I want a confirmation that the TairAzuma ship sailed.
It would probably be too fast given the glacial progress of their relationship, but when Taira lifted his left hand into frame after Tani pointed out his dango was dripping I was hoping there'd be a ring on it tbh.

第1話の谷視点をやるなら、もっと早くやるべきだったと思う。最終回で他の2組のメインカップル（そう、自分は平と東を公式カップルだと思ってる）の出番があまり無かったのはちょっと残念。
西は最後の自撮りに映ってすらいなかった。あれがクラスのグループの自撮りなのは分かってるけど、初登場からの山田と西推しとしては、最終回で西が外されたのはちょっと残念だった。

I kinda wish if they were going to give Tani's POV from episode 1 they should should've done it earlier. Kinda sucks we didn't get a lot of screentime for the other two main couples (yes I consider Tirazuma a couple officially) in the last episode.
Nishi didn't even appear in the final selfie, which I understand is a selfie of their class group. But as a Yamanishi lover since the first time they appeared, it kinda sucks that they had to cut her off in the series finale.

他にもあるだろうけど、この作品に一番近い感覚をくれたのは『ギジハーレム』と『ホリミヤ』だった。短くて、甘くて、心に大きな穴を開けていった。友達にさよならを言ってるような気分。寂しくなるな

I’m sure there’s a few more shows but the closest feeling another show gave me similar to this show was Giji Harem and Horimiya. Just short, sweet and left a big hole in my heart. Felt like I’m saying goodbye to my friends. Gonna miss this

胸がいっぱいなのに、なぜかもっと欲しくなる。平と東がもっと見たかった！でも、全ての始まりの谷視点が来るとは思わなかった。
たぶん最初から最後まで完璧だったって言えるラブコメアニメはこれだけだと思う。それぞれのカップルで1本ずつアニメが作れたと思う。ただただ雰囲気が良くて、会話が最高。
今年の自分の幸せの薬ともお別れしなきゃいけない。

My heart is full, yet somehow it yearns for more. I wanted more Tairazuma! But also, I didn't expect we would get Tani's POV of how it all started.
This is probably the only romcom anime that I would say was perfect from start to finish. I could picture each couple could've easily gotten their own shows. Just good vibes and great dialogue.
I now have to say goodbye to my happy pill of the year.

平と東が今もすごく仲が良くて、ドライブに出かけてあんな風に一緒に歌えるくらいなのが嬉しい。
この2人のスピンオフがめちゃくちゃ欲しいw

I'm glad Tairazuma are still very, very close that they're able go out on a drive and sing together like that.

EDIT: Taira's VA also just posted this cover song that he did with Azuma's VA!! I'd like to imagine this was the song Taira shared with Azuma and what they're singing together during the car ride as adults. Tearing up brb...

アニメを見終わってこんなにぽっかり穴が開いたのは久しぶり。自分もこのキャストがすごく恋しくなる。他の友達ももっと知りたかった。大学での平と東のデートをもっと。

It's been a while since I felt this gaping hole after finishing a show. I'm going to miss this cast so much, too. I wish we'd gotten to know the other friends more. More Tairazuma dates in college.

The lyrics for are sooo damn melancholic. Basically a yearning song.
