この魔法騎士たちは成長してるし、もう絆ができてきてるのがいい。
光と海と風は、力を合わせてあの怪物を倒した。まだ序盤だけど、3人の息は合ってると思う。
話数はまだたくさんあるから、成長する時間はたっぷりある。別のキャラが現れて、続きが気になる終わり方だった。

These magic knights are improving and I like the bond they're building already.

Hikaru, Umi, and Fuu defeated that monster in a team effort. It's early but I see synergy and chemistry between this trio.

There's still a lot of episodes so they have plenty of time to improve. Got a cliffhanger as another character makes an appearance.

アルシオーネは生きてる気がしてた。OPで目立ちすぎていて、すぐ退場するとは思えなかったから。今回のプレセアの場面は楽しかった。特に、光が飴玉を1個渡す場面は、ほとんどロマンチックな照明と構図だった。全体のテンポはまた少し速くて、特に森に入ってからがそうだった。でもそれは、この回の最後に新キャラを出したかったせいもあるかもしれない。怪物を倒したとき、紫色とはいえあんなに血が出たのはちょっと意外だった。そういう生々しい描写は避けると思ってたから。

I had a feeling Alcyone was still alive, she was too prominent in the OP to get killed off immediately. Presea's scenes this episode were fun, I especially liked the scene that was filled with almost romantic lighting and shot framing when Hikaru handed her a single sweet. The pacing overall was again a little fast, especially when they got to the forest, though that might partially have been due to the studio wanting this new character introduced at the end of this episode. I am a little surprised that there was as much blood as there was when they killed the monster, even if it was purple, I figured the show would avoid more graphic elements like that.

情報だらけの回だけど、作画は美しい。いちばんの見どころは、最後の新しい男の登場。

A beautifully well-animated infodump episode. The best part is the appearance of the new guy at the end.

ここまでのペースはしっかりしてる。キャラと世界を好きにさせるのが上手だ。

Solid pacing so far. The series is doing a decent job at making me care about the characters and world.

今回は掛け合いが多くて、ちょっとにぎやかすぎたけど、それでも楽しかった。海の声優さんは、今回で声帯を使い切ったね。

A bit noisy with excessive banters this episode, but entertaining nonetheless. Umi really worked her vocal muscles off in this episode. xD

全体としては良い回だった。まだ原作どおりで、物語の本当の核心にはまだ入っていない。
ちびキャラとずっこけを、ちょっと使いすぎだと思う。面白いを通り越して、気が散るレベルになってる。
話が盛り上がってきたら、ぐっと減るといいな。
フェリオが出てくるのはかなり楽しみ。

Good episode all in all - still following the original, so we still haven't gotten into the real meat of the story yet.

I think they're overusing the chibis and the facefalls a bit. It's gone beyond amusing to distracting.

Hopefully when things ramp up, we'll see a lot less of them.

原作を読んで『魔法騎士レイアース』で本当に気に入ったのは、CLAMPが重くて暗い雰囲気の中に、たくさんの笑いを入れていたところ。レイアースは、CLAMPの笑いを表した作品の中でも、いちばんではないにしても、最高の部類だと思う。それがアニメでも、ちびキャラと一緒にちゃんと表現されていてうれしい。
原作を読んで大好きになった身として、毎話のあとにみんなのコメントを読むのがすごく楽しい。だから、これからも考察したり、話の感想を語ったりしてね :))
このリメイクにはすごく期待してた。原作どおりに作られた良いアニメになる、初めてのCLAMP作品かもしれないから（ここで言う「良い」は、ちゃんと原作の物語に沿ったアニメって意味）。CLAMPはもっと成功していいと正直思う。これをきっかけに、CLAMPのリメイクが増えますように！

What I really liked about Magic Knight Rayearth when I read the manga was how CLAMP managed to have a lot of humour alongside a more serious and darker tone. MKR is, in my opinion, one of the best, if not the best, representation of CLAMP's humour. I'm glad it is so well represented in the anime, with all the chibis.

I really enjoy reading everyone's comments after each episode, as someone who read the manga and really enjoyed it. So please keep making theories and talking about the episodes :))

I was extremely excited for this remake because this might be the first CLAMP manga that will have a good anime adaptation (and by good I mean an anime that actually follows the original story). CLAMP deserves more success honestly, let's hope this opens the door to more CLAMP remakes!

@Arlowe the manga is full of chibis and facefalls, definitely one of CLAMP's signature, so it doesn't surprise me they are adding all of them in the anime as well!

正直、今回はあっという間だった！
モコナは相変わらずかわいい。ただ、魔法騎士たちの冒険で道案内したり役に立ったりするのは、宣伝されてたほどじゃないみたい。でも、かわいいからいいか！
プレセアが武器を作ると言ってくれたけど、それには鉱石「エスクード」が要る。この作品で初めての任務だ！　面白いのは、「エスクード」って自分の母語で「盾」って意味なんだよね。使う人の力に合わせて形を変える鉱石だから、性質が名前どおりかは分からないけど。
それにしても、魔法騎士たちがいきなりあんな危なそうな怪物に出くわすとは思わなかった。でもちゃんと倒した。よくやった！　武器が魔法で変身するところも、本当にかっこよかった。
最後に新キャラが登場！　かなり強そう！
ああ、OPもどんどん好きになってきた。この作品にぴったり！
次回どうなるか楽しみ！

This episode went by pretty quickly honestly!

Mokona continues to be quite cute, although it seems his orientations and usefulness during this adventure of our Magic Knights aren't as good as they were promoted, but hey, it's cute!

So Presea offered Magic Knights to build their weapons, but they'll need to get the "Escudo" ore. So we get our first mission in this anime! It's funny, cause "Escudo" means "Shield" in my native language, not sure if it's properties really align with that, considering this ore transforms according to the users powers.

Anyways, I wasn't expecting the Magic Knights to encounter such a dangerous looking monster right off the bat, but they managed to properly defeat him, nice work! The magic transformation of the weapons looked really cool.

A new character appears in the end! And it seems to be quite strong!

Ahh, I'm liking the opening more and more, it just fits so well with this anime!

I'm curious to see what will happen next episode!

3人は新しい武器を手に入れて、魔法の使い方を学んで、しかもまた新しいイケメン！？　そう、これぞ少女漫画だよね笑。3人が少しずつ打ち解けて友達になって、名前で呼び合う仲になってきたのもうれしい！

Man these episodes are blowing by why are they 5 minutes long lol??

So the girls have new weapons, are learning to use their magic and now we’ve got another hot guy?! Yes, classic shoujo lol. I’m happy they’re slowly warming up to one another and becoming friends/on first name basis now as well!

女の子同士の関係がほほえましい。百合じゃないのは分かってるけど、やり取りを見てるだけで楽しい。今のところ、いちばん面白いのは風かな。

The relationships between the female characters are sweet; and yes, I’m aware that this isn’t yuri, but watching them interact is still quite amusing. Fuu is probably the funniest character so far.

風が旅の基準をドラクエにしてるのが大好き。武器がタダでもらえると思ったときも、すごくうれしそうだった。残念ながら、魔法騎士の武器は特別すぎて、そう簡単には渡せないんだけどね。
ポケットに入ってた唯一の物をプレセアに差し出す光が、かわいすぎた。光はまっすぐで素直で、こういうキャラをまた見られるのが新鮮に感じる。プレセアもあの気持ちがうれしかったみたい。
というわけで、3人の旅はついに次の段階へ！　プレセアが武器を作るのに要るエスクードを、伝説の「エテルナの泉」まで探しに行かなきゃいけない。そこから帰ってきた者はいないらしい。そして3人は、ようやくプレセアから初期装備をもらえた！
旅は始まったばかりなのに、モコナはもう小憎たらしい。プレセアによれば行き先を知ってるはずなのに、こいつは3人と旅ができるのがうれしいだけで、しまいには魔物のいる所まで連れていっちゃった！
ついに3人の初めての本格的な戦闘が見られてうれしい！　3人がそれぞれの武器を手にしたのは、みんな何かしらの経験があるからだった。風は弓道部、光の家は剣道の道場、海はあの構えからして、フェンシングを習ってるのは明らかだと思う。
やっぱり、森では魔法が使えないというプレセアの言葉は正しかった。魔法少女の夢をかなえられなくて、海がめちゃくちゃがっかりしてたのが最高 xD
でも、3人は見事に力を合わせてあの怪物を倒した！　あの戦いで、3人の絆はぐっと強まったみたい。
それにしても、最後の場面！　ついに来た。次回の本格的な登場が楽しみ 🙂

I just love how Fuu uses Dragon Quest as a baseline for their journey. She was so happy too when she thought they were getting their weapons for free. Unfortunately, a Magic Knight's weapon is just too unique to be handed over just like that.
Hikaru offering the only thing she has in her pocket to Presea was too adorable. Hikaru is so earnest and sincere that it actually feels fresh to see a character like her again. And clearly Presea loved the gesture from her.
So we finally get to the next step of the trio's quest! They need to search for the escudo Presea needs to craft their weapons from the legendary Spring of Eterna, which apparently no one has returned from. And the girls finally get their starter gear from Presea!
They've just started their journey and Mokona is already being a little s**t. According to Presea, he should know where to go, but the dude is just happy he gets to travel with them and even ended up leading them to where the monsters are!
I'm glad that we finally get to see the girls in their first actual combat! It turns out the reason the girls got the weapons they have is because all of them have some sort of experience. Fuu is with the archery club, Hikaru's family runs a kendo dojo, and I think it's pretty obvious from her stance that Umi is a trained fencer.
Welp, looks like Presea was right about their magic not working in the forest. I do love how disappointed Umi was about being unable to cast spells because she can't live out her magical girl dreams. xD
The girls did an amazing job working together on taking down that monster tho! And it looks like that encounter really increased their bond with each other.
That final scene, tho! There he is. I am excited for his proper introduction next episode 🙂

これが誰かのRPGの構想だってこと、まったく隠してないね。

Not exactly hiding how much of this is someone’s idea for an RPG.

ちゃんと8ビットのRPG風の画面まで付いてるし。

当然だけど、アニメと一緒にレイアースのRPGが何本も出てたんだ。セガサターン版はアメリカでも発売された。

Not surprisingly, there were a number of Rayearth RPG games that were released alongside the show (with the Saturn version getting a stateside release).

光が飴玉をお代として差し出したのは本当にかわいかった。プレセアまでめろめろになってた。
装備のための素材集めはお約束。JRPGの定番だね。
初めてにしては、怪物退治がずいぶんうまい。でもまあ、これは古典的な異世界ものだから、今どきのものほど気にならない。
この人が誰だか思い出せないけど、3人目の仲間が来た。

レイアースに、最強の魔女の話に、幻想水滸伝のアニメ。今期は自分にとって、やけにRPGっぽいアニメが多い。

Between Magic Knight Rayearth, The Strongest Witch, and Suikoden: The Anime, this feels like a very RPG-heavy anime season for me.

『転生したら剣でした』もね。

3人とプレセアが、「不法侵入」と「伝説の魔法騎士を檻に閉じ込めた」っていう気まずい件を乗り越えられてよかった。これでセフィーロを救う本題に入れる！　そのためには、プレセアに武器を作ってもらわなきゃいけない！
でもこれは、装備を買わなきゃいけないタイプのRPGじゃない（そもそも3人は実質一文無しだし）。光が大事な飴玉をプレセアにあげなきゃいけないRPGでもないし（好意のしるしとして受け取ってはもらえたけど）、3人がシンデレラになって家事を全部やらなきゃいけないRPGでもない。その代わり、伝説のエテルナの湖まで旅をして、伝説の鉱石エスクードを見つけなきゃいけない。そうすれば、持ち主と一緒にレベルアップする武器をプレセアが作れる！
風はきっと、最初の町に着いたら、RPGを心ゆくまで味わうためだけに装備を買い込むと思う。
かわいそうな海。この冒険では文字どおり「何ひとつ」思いどおり・望みどおりにいかないし、風みたいに平然と流すこともできない。
プレセアが作った武器を全部持っていくのは現実的じゃないから、借りる武器のほうから呼びかけてくれるのは都合がいい！　光には剣！　海にはレイピア！　風には弓！　剣道とフェンシングと弓道をやってる子にぴったり！
アルシオーネは一度しくじったけど、二度としくじらないよう祈ったほうがいい……とはいえ、あれだけ自分と自分の目的に尽くしてくれるんだから、ザガートは彼女をありがたく思うべきだろうね。
こうして3人はモコナと一緒に旅立つ……そのモコナは、はっきり言って何の役にも立たず、楽しい旅の気分を味わうためだけにいるみたい。少なくとも、最初の魔物に出くわすまではね。
籠手から武器を召喚する、かっこいい場面！　かっこいい決めポーズ！　光がかっこよく魔法を放つ……と思ったら、森では使えない！　でも、覚えておいて損はない！
でも最後は、3人の連携と腕前で勝利をつかんで、魔法騎士の3人組として友情を本当に固めた。
ところが、沈黙の森にいたのは3人だけじゃなかった……植物の魔物から3人を救ったのは、松岡禎丞さんが声を当てる緑髪の男だった。

Glad the girls and Presea were able to get over the whole awkward “breaking and entering” and “locking the Legendary Magic Knights in a cage” thing so we can get to the business of saving Cefiro! And they’ll need Presea to forge them the weapons they’ll need to achieve that!
But this isn’t the kind of RPG where you need to buy equipment (especially since the girls are effectively broke), or where Hikaru will have to give her precious candy away to Presea (though she’ll accept it as a token of affection), or where the girls will have to become Cinderella and do all the housework. Instead they’ll have to travel to the Legendary Lake of Eterna and find the legendary Ore Escudo so Presea can forge weapons that will level up with them!
I feel like Fuu is probably going to shop for gear the first town they get to just for the sake of truly living out that RPG experience.
Poor Umi. Literally NOTHING in this adventure goes how she expects/wants it too and she can’t be as blasé or roll with it as well as Fuu does.
It’s impractical to carry basically EVERY weapon Presea has made, so it’s convenient that their temporary weapons all call out to them! A sword for Hikaru! A rapier for Umi! A bow for Fuu! Fitting for a kendo/fencing/archery kid!
Alcyone failed once, but she better pray she doesn’t fail again…though I guess Zagato should probably appreciate how she seems absolutely devoted to him and his goals.
And thus do the girls set off on their journey with Mokona…who is frankly no help and seems like Mokona is just there for the fun travel vibes. At least before they stumble onto their first monster.
Cue epic weapon summoning from the gauntlets! Cue epic posing! Cue Hikaru epically unleashing her magic…which she can’t use in the forest! But good to know for future reference!
But in the end the day is won thanks to the girls’ teamwork and skills, and truly solidifying their friendship as a trio of Magic Knights.
Yet the girls aren’t alone in the Forest of Silence…as they get saved from a plant monster by some green-haired dude voiced by Yoshitsugu Matsuoka.

風は夢を生きてる。それは誰にも否定できない。
でも、お金や回復薬を探して、プレセアの家の部屋も引き出しも隙間も全部調べずに出ていくのは、ちょっとがっかり。真のRPGゲーマーの心得じゃないね。

Fuu is living the dream and no one can deny that.
But I'm a little disappointed that she leaves Presea's house without first searching every room, drawer and crack for useful things like money, hp and mp potions and so, that's not the mindset of a true rpg gamer.

レイアースは、決まったテーマの駄洒落だらけ。それがまた、もっと面白くしてる。

Rayearth is saturated with puns in a specific theme, loool. This really makes it even more funnier.

このアニメの、梶浦由記さんの音楽の動画を上げてくれた見知らぬ人に感謝したい。おかげで見てみる気になった。それに、なかなかしっかりしたアニメだよ。鮮やかな絵柄と、キャラの表情の豊かさには本当に驚いた。
アクションの場面もなかなかだし、2話は劇伴も最高だった。次回が楽しみ。

I want to thank the random dude who posted a video about Yuki Kajiura's soundtrack for this Anime, made me give it a chance. And I have to say it's a pretty solid Anime, really surprised about the vibrant art style and how expressive the characters are.
The action sequences are also decent, episode 2 had a fantastic OST too. Looking forward to the next episode.

初めて見る自分にとっては、このリメイクのペースがすごく好き。ゆっくりだけど、その時間でこの子たちをちゃんと知れるし、どんどん愛着がわいてる。

That's interesting. For me, new watcher, I'm really loving the pace of the remake. It's slow, but that time is just given to really get to know these girls and I'm becoming more and more attached hahah.

hope you liked the shot of Umi becoming bigger than Presea because here it is again
the recaps aren't really necessary, they sorta eat into the Runtime and with the anime being available on streaming services it's not impossible to catch up
would've been a cool easter egg to reuse one of the original games for the game sequence but getting the rights would've been a nightmare
man, Umi's got some amazing facial expressions when not in chibi form, they should do that more often
I like the vibe and the lighting of the armory scene
please don't turn the chibi switches into a way to save budget, thanks
something that I've noticed already is that during comedy situations poses persist between shots, EP2 had Umi fall to the ground in chibi form and keep the pose even in normal proportions, and this time around the SFX visual stays on her head
it's also a physical object, Fuu is tending to Umi in the very next shot LMAO
Presea really is in her underwear under her apron wtf. Wear some shorts
does Umi get more animation budget because she's rich? Asking for a friend

the weapon granting scene went a bit too fast, I get they're trying to cram in as much stuff as possible but it's almost a blink-and-you'll-miss moment

今どきの異世界ものは、ステータス画面があるからってゲームみたいだとよく言われる。でも、この作品のほうがずっとゲームらしく感じる。原作と同じ時代のゲームをやるほどの歳じゃないけど、行く場所がたくさんあってそれを一つずつ回っていくところや、最初から自分専用の武器がもらえないところなんか、『ゼルダの伝説』っぽさがある。すごく楽しい！　ああ、ゼルダもずいぶんやってないな……
光が借りた剣の鍔は、ガラボンツの剣にちょっと似てるのがいい。9世紀ごろのビザンツ風の剣なんだ。比率がもっとずっと大きければ、だけどね笑

For as much talk as current Isekai make of being like a videogame (primarily because they have stat screens), I'm noticing this story feels a lot more like one. I didn't play any videogame old enough to be a contemporary of the og, but it's giving TLoZ vibes with like how there's obviously many areas we're going to, one by one, or how you don't get your signature weapon at first. It's very fun! F**k it's been long since I played Zelda...
I like how Hikaru's borrowed sword's guard kinda looks like a Garabonc Sword's, which is a Byzantine style of the 9th century or so. Only if it was proportionally quite larger haha

The source material might be 30 years old, but fantasy world mechanics are older than that, and it's surprisingly fun to see things played straight here. With massive amounts of self-awareness from the characters.

Fancy effects for the temporary weapons getting sucked into the armor gems, I wonder if it'll look similar for the real weapons or be something even fancier.
Good first fight for the girls, a cyclops dragon is new to me.

この作品は間違いなくスロースタート。武器を手に入れて状況も少し分かってきたけど、この回の最後には少なくとも魔神までたどり着くと思ってた。不満はないよ。期待の仕方を変えればいいだけ。
それを踏まえれば、十分いい回だった。もう少しアクションが欲しかったけど、あとに取ってあるのかも。今のところはコメディ寄りだから、海がいちばんなのも当然。間違いなく、いちばん面白いキャラだと思う。話がシリアスになってもそれが変わらないか、見ものだね。

This show is certainly a slowburn. Yeah they've got weapons now and a bit more info on what's going on but I expected they'd at least get the Rune Gods by the end of this episode. I don't mind it, just gotta adjust my expectations.
With that in mind, this was a ecent enough episode. I do wish we got a little more action but maybe they're saving that for later. Seems like the show is focusing more on the comedic elements so far and with that in mind, it's not wonder Umi is the best so far. She's definitely the funniest member of the cast in my opinion. We'll see if that holds up once the show takes on a more serious tone.

I love this reboot so much. It’s beautiful and I love how it’s recreating the atmosphere of the manga with all the chibis, Hikaru’s cat ears, the onomatopeia, all the while being beautifully drawn and animated as a TV show. Can’t wait for next week, puu\~!

風はゲーマーみたいに反応して、海は普通の（ちょっとピリピリした）人みたいに反応して、光は子どもみたいに反応する。
3人ともみんな武道の経験があるから、適当に連れてこられたんじゃなく、魔法騎士に選ばれたんだろうね。レイピアを持つ海はなかなか凛々しい（しゃべり出すとグレムリンみたいになるまでは）。
海とモコナは、イライラで結ばれた最高のコンビ。

Fuu reacts like a gamer, Umi reacts like a normal (slightly high-strung) person, Hikaru reacts like a kid.
I guess the fact that the girls all have some experience in combat arts was why they were picked to be the Magic Knights rather than just plucking them randomly. Umi looks rather dashing with a rapier (until she starts talking like a gremlin).
Umi and Mokona are a match made in annoyance.

このシリーズに触れたことがあるのは、セガサターンのゲームだけ。このリメイクが目に留まったのも、それが唯一の理由。

The only experience I have with this franchise is through the Sega Saturn game of this. It's the only reason this 2026 remake caught my attention

遠くのカットは3DCGのモデルに頼ってるみたいだけど、アクションは手描きを優先してるようでうれしい。

The action sequences are also decent, episode 2 had a fantastic OST too. Looking forward to the next episode.
They seem to rely on CG models for far off shots, but I'm glad they seem to prioritize the action being hand-drawn.

3人が地球で入ってた弓道部と道場は、相当すごいところなんだろうな。あのでかい怪物を、何でもないみたいにボコボコにしてたもん笑

モコナは相変わらず、アニメのマスコット系キャラの中でもトップクラスにかわいい。ありがたや。
ジャンルのお約束にどっぷりつかった、いかにもアニメなアニメを見るのが久しぶりだからかもしれないけど、テンポとキャラの掛け合いが、期待してたほど自分には刺さってない。この作品にこんなに思い出がなかったら、たぶんこの回で切ってたと思う。それがちょっと悲しい。でも、遊び心を取り戻すのに、もう少し時間が要るだけかもしれない！

Mokona continues to be one of the cutest mascot-type characters in anime. Gods bless.
IDK if it's just because it's been a while since I've watched an anime-anime, as in one that really dives into the tropes of the genre, but the pacing and character interactions haven't been working on me as well as I'd been hoping. If I didn't have so much nostalgia for the show I probably wouldn't continue past this episode, which makes me a little sad. But maybe I just need to give a little more time to reconnect with my sense of whimsy!
