Some super shadow realm consumed the world and they pretty much sent in most of the world's fighting population to suppress it but ended up down to like 6 at the final boss 10 years in, then the final boss went kaboom and mc regressed.

放送当時は見逃してた。
1期は楽しめた。
2期が作られるくらいには人気あったのに、スレが立つほどではなかったみたいだな

Missed this when it was airing.

I enjoyed S1.
Good thing it was popular enough for a S2 but apparently not enough for threads

1期を見たのは覚えてるけど、話の細かいところは完全に忘れてて、主人公が過去に戻ったってこと以外は何が起きてるのかさっぱり分からない。

I remember watching season 1, but I have completely forgotten all the plot details and have no idea what's going on aside from knowing that the MC went back in time.

歴史上のある時点を再現した魔法の場所に行って、それを正していく、って考えればいい。前のシーズンにも時計塔を直すっていう模擬のやつがあって、そこでデジールたちがアゼストと戦ったから、今あいつは仲間になってる。ただ、本当に過去に戻ったのはデジールだけ。

Think of it as them going to magic places that recreate moments in history and fixing them. Like there was a fake one last season about fixing a clock tower where Desir and company fought Ajest and why she's now on their side. Though Desir is the only one who has _actually_ gone back in time.

じゃあ、それを正したら未来が変わるってこと？時計塔の時とは違って、今回は結果に意味があるって感じ？

So once they fix them, the future would change? Like this time it matters, compared to the clock tower.

マジで、話の途中で一回止めて、10分のおさらい動画をYouTubeで見に行ったわ。だいぶ助かったけど、それまでは完全に迷子だった。

Seriously, half-way through the episode I had to stop and go watch a 10 minute recap YouTube video. That mostly helped but man was I completely lost.

おさらい動画を見ても、何が起きてるのか分かるようにはならなかった。キャラや話のポイントは思い出せたけど、それでも話の途中にいきなり放り込まれた感じがした。
1期の最終話を見直したほうがいいかも。

Turns out watching a recap did not help prepare me for understanding what was going on. It refreshed me on the characters and plot points but I still felt like I'd been dropped into the middle of it.

I might need to go back and watch the last episode of S1.

なぜかかなり話を飛ばしてる気がする。1期の最終話を覚えてるなら、1分半くらいのダイジェストで明らかに大量の内容を詰め込んでたでしょ。

I think that they're skipping around a lot for some reason. if you remember the last episode of season 1, there was clearly a ton of material covered as part of a montage that lasted like a minute and a half.

今いるのは歴史をもとにした影の世界（前のシーズンで時計塔のやつをやった、練習用の影の世界みたいなもの）。前のシーズンの最終話が、影の世界に入る直前で終わってたからね

They are in the shadow world that is based off of history (like the practice shadow world they did last season with the bell tower) since the last season finale ended with them about to enter the shadow world

今起きてることが、自分が覚えてるこの作品の最後とどうつながるのか全然分からんw 前の人生のパーティーにいたホークとデジールが接触した以外は。1期の最後の何話かを忘れてるんだろうな。
クエストを出してくるこの声は誰なのか、なんで元の世界じゃなくて影の世界にいるのか、とか。軽いあらすじくらい入れてくれてもよかったのに。

I don't see how any of what is happening connects with what I last remember of the series lol. Other than Desir making contact with Hawk who was part of his party. I must be forgetting the last few episodes of season one.

Like who is this voice giving him quests, and why are they in a Shadow World and not their actual world? A short recap would have been nice.

シーズンの最後に、みんなでポータルを通ってこの影の世界（誰もクリアできなかったやつ）に入っていったんだよ。この影の世界はゲームみたいになってて、世界のストーリーを進めるにはクエストをこなさなきゃいけないっぽい。

At the end of the season the walk into the portal into this shadow world (the same one they could never clear), it looks like this shadow world is like a videogame, they have to complete quests to progress the worlds story.

影の世界は、前のシーズンにやった練習用のやつみたいに、歴史をもとにしてるっぽいね
あの声は、影の世界に入る人をサポートする役の誰かなんじゃないかと予想してる

俺もここの皆と同じくらい混乱してる。どんな形でもいいからおさらいが欲しかった。世界観もキャラも好きなんだけど、話についていくのが大変。
見続けるけど、これは原作を読んだほうが楽しめそう。

ya I'm just as confused as everyone else here. Any kind of recap would've been nice. I do enjoy this world and the characters but it's hard to follow the plot.
I'll keep watching but seems like reading this one would be a better experience.

混乱してる人のために、自分なりの理解を説明させてくれ（自分も最初は混乱してた）：
みんなまだ学生のまま。
それと、大きな時間の飛びはない。画面に映ってないところで、せいぜい数日経ってるくらい。
ポイントは、影の世界に入ると、その影の世界の元になった歴史の時代で、それぞれ別の役割を与えられるってこと。思い出してほしいんだけど、影の世界はどこからともなく現れるポータルみたいなもので、入った人を過去に送り込んで、歴史上の過ちか何かを「正す」のをシミュレートするような場所。でも本物の過去ではない。ちょっとアサシン クリードのゲームっぽい。
この影の世界を「正さ」ないと現実世界に本当に影響が出る。それが1期の冒頭で主人公が目にしたもの。実際に時間を遡ったのは主人公だけで、13年前に戻ってきて、影の世界がらみの大混乱が起きた自分の経験した未来を繰り返さないようにしてる。

Allow me to explain how I understand this for the confused (I was also confused at first):

They're still in school.
AND It's not a huge timeskip. Maybe like a few days at most off cam.
 It's more that, after they enter a shadow world, they take on different roles in the historical time the shadow world is based on. Remember, these shadow worlds are like portals that show up outta nowhere and they sorta simulate sending whoever goes into them going back in time to "fix" a mistake or something in history, but it's not real. Kinda like the Assassin's Creed games in a way. 
They gotta "fix" these shadow worlds or there actually is real world consequences, which is what our MC saw at the start of season 1. MC is the only one to have actually time traveled, 13 years into the past, and he's trying to make sure the future he experienced with all the chaos to do with the shadow worlds doesn't happen.

プラムが先に出てきたから、デジールより先にロマンティカも出てくると思ってた。戦闘のBGMがいいね！
プラムは相変わらず執着の強いおバカ。アゼストも相変わらずカッコよくて、これ以上ないくらい大げさな登場の仕方をしてくる。ああいう武装解除の仕方もあるんだな…。
デジールは最強のなでなで王。誰も逆らえない。
樽、樽。普通の樽、樽、樽、樽。プラムはもうベタ惚れすぎる。それと、やっとロマンティカの名前が出てきてよかった。話の半分以上触れられないのは変だったから
アゼストがデジールに食べさせてる？おいおい、シーズン頭からハーレムが全開だな。
ロマンティカが3人の居場所を知る場面の曲もまた神曲。
デジールはこの影の世界の秘密は知らないっぽいね。前のシーズンの魔石の襲撃みたいな、彼が知ってる重要な出来事が現実世界で今は起きないっていうなら別だけど、そうじゃなきゃ彼が影の世界にいるのはもったいない気がする。
EDも良かった。EDの後の、塔の主がデジールを疑ってる場面はどう受け止めればいいのか分からない。

Honestly I thought we'd get Romantica too before we saw Desir once Pram showed up first. Good fight music though!

Pram remains an obsessed goober. And Ajest remains a baller, showing up in the most over the top way possible. That's one way to disarm your opponent...

Desir is the king of overpowered headpats. No one can resist them.

Barrel barrel. Normal barrel barrel barrel barrel. Pram is so down bad. And thank goodness they finally mentioned Romantica, was weird to not mention her for over half the episode

Ajest is feeding Desir now? Jeeze his harem is in full swing to start the season.

The music when Romantica finds out where the trio are is another banger.

Sounds like Desir doesn't know the secrets of this specific Shadow World, seems like a waste for him to be there, unless there's no key events in the real world he knows about like the raid for the mana gem last season.

Good ED. And not sure what to think about the post ED scene where the head of the tower is uncertain about Desir.

塔の主は、デジールの未来では友人だったんだけど、前のシーズンの最後にあの特殊なチェスでデジールに乗せられたから、ちょっと疑心暗鬼になるのは自然だと思う（ついでに、デジールがあのチェスの勝負に負けてたことも分かる）

The head of the tower was Desirs friend in his future, but he led him on in the end of last season with the specialty chess, so I think it is natural he is a little paranoid (This also reveals that Desir lost the chess match against him)

デジールは勝ちたかったんじゃなくて、未加工の魔石の使い方を見せる口実が欲しかったんだと思う

I don't think Desir wanted to win, but wanted a reason to show him how to use unprocessed stones

これが帰ってきて本当にうれしい。プラムのしょうもない嫉妬シーンがずっと恋しかったw いきなりアクションがあったのも良かった。いつもの面々がまた揃いそうだね。

Really glad to have this one back. I’ve missed seeing all the goofy little jealous Pram moments lol. Nice we got some action right off the bat too. Looks like the whole gang’s gonna be back together again.

で…前のシーズンから時間が飛んでるってこと？今期はどこか適当な場所からいきなり始まった感じがする。
1期はまあまあだった記憶だけど、新しく見るものができたのはうれしい。戦闘の作画はなかなか良かった。セリフは相変わらずちょっとクサくて、ぎこちないところもあるけど。

Soooo… there was like a time skip since last season I guess? I feel like this season just starts in some random place.

I remember season 1 being alright but I’m still happy for something new to watch. The fight animations were quite decent. Dialogue still pretty cheesy and somewhat awkward.

No time skip, they are just in the shadow world he earned the rights to go into at the end of the last season.

それと、影の世界はアサシン クリードのゲームみたいなもの。過去をもとにしてて、それを正すためのクエストが与えられる。
なんでそれをやらなきゃいけないかっていうと、やらないと現実世界が大混乱に陥るとかそんな理由

Not that he earned the rights. More that it really did pop up and they had proved themselves and were sent there.

Also, the shadow worlds are like Assassin's Creed games. Based on the past, given a quest you must do to fix it. 

The reason they must do this is because if they don't, the real world goes into chaos or something

このアニメが戻ってきてたの気づかなかった。キャラと何が起きてたかを思い出すのに、1期の最終話を見直す羽目になった。1期はこの夏に初めて見て、すごく楽しんだんだけど、なぜかこのアニメって記憶に残りにくいんだよね。
でも、デジールが歴史を変えて仲間を救おうとして、ほぼゼロからやり直すっていう設定はカッコいい。とにかく楽しみにしてる。

I didn’t realize this show was back. I had to rewatch the last episode of season 1 to recall the characters and what was happening. I watched season 1 this past summer for the first time and really enjoyed it but this show is pretty forgettable for some reason.

The premise is cool though with Dezir trying to change history and save his friends and basically starting from scratch almost. Anyway I’m looking forward to this.

みんなその歴史の中の人物の役を割り当てられてるっぽいね。ロマンティカはもともと商人だったからその役になったんだと思う。難民問題がなぜ起きてるのか彼女は分かってるから、たぶん役に立つはず

It seems they all get roles of people in that history, and since Romantica was a merchant she ended up in the role - which probably will help since she knows why the refugee crisis is occuring

また戻ってきてうれしい。1期はすごく楽しめた。
デジールとプラムは雑魚をあっさり片付けてた。
ホークは強くて、アゼストといい勝負をしてたね。
デジールは王様とエステバンの部族、両方の信頼をうまく勝ち取った。
プラムが気配を感じた男は最初怪しいと思ったけど、ロマンティカの手下だったんだね。チームはもうすぐ合流しそう。気がかりなことがいろいろ起きてるし、たぶんそれが一番いい。

Happy to see this back again, I really enjoyed the 1st season.

Desir and Pram easily took care of those mobs.

At least Hawk was strong, he gave Azest a good fight.

Desir did well gaining the trust of both the king and Estaban tribe.

I thought the guy that Pram sensed was suspicious at first but turns out he was working for Romantica, looks like the team will be reunited soon which is probably a good thing since there are a lot of worrying thing that are happening.

1期はプラムの素晴らしい男の娘っぷりと、デジールとの微笑ましいブロマンスのおかげでよく覚えてる。だから今期も楽しみにしてる。

I distinctly remember the first season because of the great femboy representation in Pram and the wholesome bromance he has with Desir, so I will be looking forward to this.

1期の話は完全に忘れたけど、楽しんで見てたのは覚えてるから、2期が来てうれしい。2期があったこと自体にはまだ驚いてるけど

I completely for got the plot in S1 but I remember enjoying it though so am happy this got a S2 still surprise that it did

あれにはめちゃくちゃ混乱した。何の前触れもなくマトリックスのテーマが流れるんだもん。
そういえば、マトリックス見直さないと。

That reminds me, I need to rewatch the Matrix.

今日1期と今回の話を一気見した。全部それなりに筋は通ってるけど、ロマンティカがなんでガッツリ商人になってるのかだけよく分からない。あとは、あの大賢者気取りの女性が誰なのかってことくらい

I just binged the first season and this episode today. Everything makes a modicum of sense, I'm kind of just confused on how Romantica is a whole ass merchant now. And the only other thing is who the Great sage wanna be lady is

影の世界に入ると、一人ひとりがその世界のランダムな「立場」に放り込まれるんだよ。彼女はたまたま商人の枠に入っただけ。

When you enter a shadow world each person gets dumped into a random "position" in the world. She just happened to get slotted in as the merchant.

町の人とか王様はただのNPCなの？それとも役割を与えられた人たち？
よく分からないのが、侵略者を止めることが世界の目標だったのに、山賊の頭領が最終的に主人公のパーティーに加わるってこと。じゃあ、ただのNPCじゃないの？

Are the townspeople and King just NPCs or are they also people in roles?

What confuses me is that stopping the invaders was a world objective, but the bandit leader eventually joins the MC's party? So he's not just a NPC?

影の世界は歴史上の出来事を描いてるから、あのエステバンはもっと最近の出来事の一部だったんだと思う。だから現実世界でもまだ生きてるんだよ。

I think since the Shadow Worlds depict historical events, Esteban was just part of a more recent one. That’s why he’s still alive in the real world.

あー、そこを見落としてたのか。コンセプトとしてはちょっと面白いけど、この世界の設定がこんなに不足してなかったら、もっとずっと面白くなりそうなのに。

Ahhh, that's the part I was missing. Kind of interesting as a concept, but it could be so much more interesting if we didn't lack so much lore about this world.

また別の影の世界のシナリオに、いきなり放り込んできたね。まあ1期の最後に入っていったところから直接続いてるから、チームの大半の戦闘を見せる以外に、わざわざ再紹介するつもりはなかったのかも。
彼氏って言われてもアゼストが眉ひとつ動かさずにそのまま乗っかってたのはちょっと面白かった。プラム、ご愁傷さま。ロマンティカは嫉妬する場にすらいられなかったし。

They sure threw us right into the deep end on another one of these Shadow World scenarios. It directly follows up on them going into one at the very end of S1 though, so maybe they just didn't want to bother with much of a reintroduction besides doing a bit of a combat showcase for most of the team.

Azest not even blinking at the boyfriend comment and just going with it was a bit funny, RIP Pram. And Romantica didn't even get to be around to be jealous as well.

She knows the competition is away, she has to take advantage.

前のシーズンと比べて作画のクオリティがだいぶ上がった気がする。あの戦闘のアゼストは本当に輝いてた

The animation quality felt like it got a big bump compared to last season. Azest really popped off in that fight

見た目は今のところ1期よりかなりきれいになってると思う。作画がしっかりしてて安定してるし、線も少し細くなったと思う。髪に撮影で乗せてる虹色のグラデーションもずっと控えめになってる。

Visually this seems like it's much cleaner so far than season 1 animation is seems more solid and consistent, line thickness has been thinned a bit I think and the rainbow gradient added in compositing to the hair is much more subtle.

いや、確か1期は影の世界に入るところで終わってて、今回はその直後から、それを正そうとしてるところなんだよ。

放送直前に1期を見直しておいて本当によかった。ちょうど昨日見終わったところ。冒頭にちょっとしたあらすじも無しで、いきなりアクションから始まったのには驚いた。1期が好きだったから、これからどうなるのか楽しみ。

I'm really glad I did a rewatch of season 1 right before this aired. I just finished the rewatch yesterday. I was shocked the episode had no mini recap at the start just straight into action. I'm curious to see how this will play out as I liked the first season.

うわ、いきなり全力疾走で始まったなw みんなが混乱するのも分かる。自分が何が起きてるか分かるのは、前のシーズンの後に原作を読んだからってだけ。
前のシーズンと比べて作画のクオリティがだいぶ上がった気がする。あの戦闘のアゼストは本当に輝いてた

This is my third time watching this one single episode. They showed it and episode 2 and anime expo and then again at anime nyc.

totally slipped my radar that this show was getting a season 2, right now even! But i thought this was a magic school anime. Maybe i lost the plot but a brief recap at the beginning would have been nice . . .

話の続きを楽しめたけど、1期の最後に何があったかは完全に忘れてた。よく分からないけど、影の世界って試練とかダンジョンみたいなものなのかな？「100万の命の上に俺は立っている」を思い出す。見たことある人いる？コンセプトはカッコいいけど、次の話でみんなが再集結して、もっと情報が出てくるといいな。

Enjoyed continuing this story, although I completely forgot what happened at the end of Season 1. I am not entirely sure, but the shadow worlds are like trials or dungeons maybe? Kind of reminds me of “I’m standing on a million lives” if anyone has seen that. Cool concept but hopefully we get everyone back together and more information in the next episode.

厳密には解かなくても戻れると思うけど、影の世界をクリアしないと現実がめちゃくちゃになる危険がある。でもそう、この影の世界をクリアしたらまだ魔法学校にいることになる。

pretty sure they technically can go back without, but not completing the shadow world risks f*****g up reality. But yes they'll still be at the magic school once they complete this shadow world.

まず、作画のクオリティがかなり上がってて良かった。今回の1話は、1期のほとんどを合わせたよりもずっと滑らかに動いてた。もちろん進撃や呪術や鬼滅のレベルではないけど、はっきり分かるくらい良くなってる。1期はずいぶん見直してないけど、まともと言える作画だったのは最終話くらいで、ほとんどはかなり微妙だった記憶がある（TBATEほど酷くはないけど、そこまで遠くもない）。
手堅い初回だった。ただ、1期を忘れたアニメ勢には分かりにくいだろうなと思う。もうずいぶん前だから、このマンファ（韓国漫画）にアニメ化があったこと自体忘れてたくらいだし。

First of all, nice to see the animation got a major bump in quality. This premiere had much more fluid animation than most of Season 1 combined. It's not AOT or JJK or Demon Slayer quality obviously, but it's a very noticeable upgrade. I haven't rewatched Season 1 in a long time, but I remember only the finale had animation that was halfway decent, most of the time it was very mediocre (not TBATE level bad, but not too far).

Solid opening episode, though I can imagine for anime-onlys who have forgotten Season 1 - it's been ages I had forgotten this manhwa even had a anime adaptation - it'll be confusing.

このアニメは基本的に『タイムマシーンにお願い』まんま。1期から2期1話の始まりまでの変化を説明してなかったけど、要するにデジールと仲間たちはサムで、実際の歴史上の出来事（それが影の世界）の人物の体に飛び込んでて、クエストを案内する新しい声がアル、ってこと。影の世界をクリアすれば歴史が保たれて、失敗すれば歴史が壊れる。これ以上言うとネタバレになるから言えないし、この投稿は何の説明も無くて混乱してる人のために、アニメの仕組みを説明したいだけ。

The anime is basically a rip off of Quantum Leap. They didnt explain the change from season 1, to the start of season 2s episode 1. Basically desir and his allies are Sam, jumping into the bodies of people from real historical events(what the shadow worlds are), and the new guiding voice for the quests is Al telling them what needs to be done. Successfully clearing a shadow world means keeping the timeline intact, while failing means the timeline gets destroyed. I can't say anymore as that would be giving away spoilers and this post is just to describe the mechanics of the anime for anyone confused since nothing was explained.

じゃあ説明してみるね：
前のシーズンの最後で、本物の影の世界のポータルが開いて緊急事態になったって分かった。そして最終話の最後に彼らはそこに入っていった。
で、このアニメでは、影の世界に入ると、その元になった歴史の時代でそれぞれ別の役割を与えられる。思い出してほしいんだけど、影の世界はそこら辺に出てくるポータルみたいなもので、入った人を過去に送って歴史上の過ちを正すのをシミュレートする場所（ただし起きてることは本物。歴史として本物じゃないってだけ）。でも本物の過去ではない。ちょっとアサシン クリードのゲームっぽい。
この影の世界を「正さ」ないと現実世界に本当に影響が出る。それが1期の冒頭で主人公が見たもの。実際に時間を遡ったのは主人公だけで、13年前に戻ってきて、影の世界がらみの大混乱が起きた自分の経験した未来を繰り返さないようにしてる。

..And it's not a huge timeskip. Maybe like a few days at most off cam.
So, lemme try to explain:
End of last season had us learning that a real shadow world portal had opening and it was an emergency. They went in at the end of the last episode. 
So in this anime, after they enter a shadow world, they take on different roles in the historical time the shadow world is based on. Remember, the shadow worlds are like these Portals that show up where they sorta simulate (but it's real.. Just not historically) sending whoever goes into them going back in time to fix a mistake in history, but it's not real. Kinda like Assassin's Creed games in a way. 
They gotta "fix" these shadow worlds or there actually is real world consequences, which is what our MC saw at the start of season 1. MC is the only one to have actually time traveled, 13 years into the past, and he's trying to make sure the future he experienced with all the chaos to do with the shadow worlds doesn't happen.

This is part way through it. As the other person said, I'd assume a few days to a week. Anime also don't always spoon feed you information. I'd expect the filling in to happen next episode

記憶違いかもしれないけど、自分の印象ではそういうことじゃなくて、影の世界を壊さないと現実世界が侵食され始める、って感じだった。

I might be misremembering but my impression was less that and more if they do not destroy the shadow worlds it starts corrupting the real world.

まあ当然だいぶ時間は経ってるけど、帰還者っていう設定がかなりカッコいいと思ってたから、このアニメのことは割と覚えてる。最強の帰還者の男が、パーティーが全滅した後に時間を遡ってきた。一番の大ボスを倒したと思ったら、そいつに全員を道連れにする自爆技があったんだよね。だから今回は仲間たちを早いうちから鍛えて、今度こそ仲間や大切な人たちが全員死んでしまわないように、そして再び大ボスと戦う時までに自爆への対策も用意しておこうとしてる。
前のシーズンの最後の時計塔のミッションは、学校が歴史上の戦いや出来事を再現して生徒をテストするために作った「仮想の」影の世界だった。確か、主人公はテストでどの出来事が出るか知らなかったから、仲間の一人にどれが来ても大丈夫なように歴史を全部勉強させてたはず。それと、テストに合格することに何かを賭けてて、パーティーがしょぼい平民用の訓練じゃなくて、すごい貴族用の訓練施設を使えるようにしたんだったと思う。貴族たちはデジールとその仲間を役立たず扱いする、ひどい階級主義者だったから、これは大きかった。

OK its been a while of course, but I remember more of this show since I actually thought the returner concept was pretty cool. OP returner dude came back in time after his party all dies out and he managed to kill the biggest bad guy just to discover it has a suicide explosion move that kills everyone. So he's now training his party early in hopes that this time around his friends and loved ones won't all die on him and he'll have a solution for the big bad exploding by the time he fights it again.

The clock tower mission from the end of the last season was a school test that was a "virtual" shadow realm created by the school to test the students by re-enacting historical battles/events. IIRC OP returner didn't know what event the exam would cover so he had one of the teammates study ALL of the history so they'd be ready for anything. And I think he had gambled something on passing the test so that he could have his party use the awesome noble training facilities instead of the s****y commoner training, which was a big deal since the nobles are classist shitbags who thought he and his party were worthless.

最終話を見てもそんなに助けにならないと思う。昨日1期を一気見したけど、一番大事な手がかりは、大会の影の世界が歴史上の出来事を解決することを軸にしてた点だった。それがこういう世界の性質なのかもしれないけど、たぶん少しずつ明かしていくつもりなんだろうね

I dont think the last episode is going to help you that much. I binge watched the first season yesterday and the most important clue was how the tournament shadow realm was centered around resolving a historical event. That might be the nature of these things but Im sure theyre just peeling the onion slowly

I watched it like a month ago to see if I wanted to watch S2 lol. Depending on how good the rest of Fall is this is an anime I could pretty easily drop depending on how the next 2 episodes go.

Yeah agreed, a recap would have been great, especially with the lag between seasons.
From memory last season ended with the shadow worlds opening, so this is a bit of a jump into their first shadow world mission it seems. But the lack of context was a bit jarring, for me anyway.
