9か月ぶりの続編とあって、まず目立ったのは帰ってきた喜びです。4chan には「俺たちは完全に帰ってきたぞ諸君。またみんなに会えて嬉しいよ」という書き込みがあり、Reddit でも「総集編があってよかった。起きたことの半分も覚えてなかったから」と、冒頭の振り返りをありがたがる声が出ました。そして両方の板で話題の中心にいたのがディーナです。「ディーナは相変わらず一番かわいい。そして一番怪しい。」という書き込みには、ルファスが振り返りで入れ忘れたのも怪しいと返信が付き、4chan では「ディーナは悪なの？」という質問に「ディーナ様は何も悪くない」と返されています。
新顔の二人も好評で、料理屋を営んでいたカルキノスには「笑った、もうカルキノスが大好きだ」、暴れ回るスコルピウスには「スコルピウスは完全にぶっ飛んでる。パーティに入れてほしい笑」という感想が並びました。ドワーフの機動王都については「あの陸上戦艦は宇宙戦艦ヤマトを思い出した。特に、お約束のヒゲの艦長とばかでかい砲。」と、元ネタ探しが盛り上がっています。カニ味の羊が生える植物には、4chan から「どんなイカれた生き物だよ」という一言が飛びました。

第13話（第2期 第1話）
1期の振り返りのあと、女神への逆襲を誓ったルファスは、自分の意識が本来のルファスに呑まれつつあることを自覚しながら、新たな『乙女』ウィルゴを仲間に加えます。一行が向かうのは、覇道十二星天『蠍』スコルピウスに狙われているドワーフの機動王都ブルートガング。巨大な陸上戦艦のような都市の中で、カニ味の羊が生える植物を使った料理屋を営んでいた『蟹』のカルキノスと再会し、カルキノスは十二星天に復帰します。城壁の外にはスコルピウス率いる魔物の大軍が迫り、ドワーフ側はリーブラの複製を繰り出して迎え撃ちます。

OPでウィルゴが勇者側にいるのが気になる……でも、たぶんルファスが勇者の支えに送り込むんだろう。勇者は生かしておかないといけないし、ウィルゴも準備が整うまで、最終局面の危険から離れた場所で経験を積めるし
Virgo being on the Heroes side in the OP has me curious..but I assume Lufas sends her to support the hero .gotta keep him alive and also lets her gather experience away from the Endgame danger until she's ready

Mobile Capital Blutgang sounds like a pretty cool name for an anime about a land battleship cruising around a wasteland. Also, apparently the battleship is technically Libra's little brother? That's pretty funny! I can't wait to see it transform into its humanoid form!
Not what I expected Karkinos would be like. I do love how he inserts random English words into his sentences. He also seems to be the most touchy-feely of all the Twelve Heavenly Stars so far. Libra definitely does not approve.

Not gonna lie, it was pretty fun watching Scorpius fight. That fight had the most ass shots I've seen in this entire series so far. I can't wait for Lufas to recruit her. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

If I had a nickel for every currently airing show with an exhibitionist scorpion girl who's also a servant of the main character I'd have two nickels, which isn't much but it's odd that it happened twice.
公平に言うと、シャウラは、さそり座の尾の部分にある恒星シャウラをモチーフにしてる。こっちのスコルピウスは明らかに星座としてのさそり座の暗示だ。どちらの作品も天体の引用と象徴にあふれてる。Re:ゼロはおもに個々の星を引いてる。スバル（プレアデス）、アルデバラン（牡牛の目）、レグルス（獅子の心臓）、アルファルド（海蛇の心臓）、バテンカイトス（鯨の腹）、アルネブ（野兎）、ロズワール・アルタイル（飛ぶ鷲）、リゲル（オリオンの足）、ペテルギウス（ベテルギウス、オリオンの武器を持つ腕）、カペラ（アマルテアの角）など。
ラスボスの覇道十二星天は明らかに十二星座を元にしてて、技の名前はそれぞれの星座にある星から取られていることが多いし、属性はおおむね守護星の五行で決まってるみたいだ（山羊座のアイゴケロスだけはもう少しややこしい理屈があるみたいだけど）。七曜そのものと同じ仕組みだね。七英雄も全員、北斗七星の七つの星にちなんだ名前だ。
それに、さそり座は昔からかなり強い色気と結びつけられてるし、サソリの尻尾の髪型なんて自然に出てくる。だからそんなに驚くことじゃない。
To be fair, Shaula is styled after the fixed star Shaula, part the tail of the constellation Scorpius. Scorpius here is obviously alluding to the sign of Scorpio. Both series have large amounts of celestial references and symbolism. RE:Zero mostly references individual stars: Subaru the Pleiades, Aldebaran the Eye of Taurus, Regulus the Lion's Heart, Alphard the Hydra's Heart, Baten Kaitos the Belly of the Whale, Arneb the Hare, Rosswall Altair the Soaring Eagle, Rigel the Foot of Orion, Petelgeuse (Betelgeuse) the Weapon Arm of Orion, Capella the Horn of Amalthea, etc.
Last Boss's Twelve Celestials are clearly referencing the signs and their abilities are often named for stars in their respective namesake constellations and their elements appear to generally be determined by the Chinese elemental assocation of their ruling planet (although Capricorn seems to have a slightly more complicated logic), much like the Seven Luminaries themselves do. The Seven Heroes are also all named for the seven stars of the Big Dipper.
Plus, Scorpious and Scorpio in general is strongly associated with pretty striking eroticism and the scorpion tail hair writes itself, so it is really not that surprising.

この作品が帰ってきてうれしい！時間を無駄にせず、ルファスの目的のおさらいとウィルゴの仲間入りをやってくれた。他の十二星天ほどレベルは高くないかもしれないけど、このチームには脳みそが一つでも多く必要だからね！
それはカルキノスを見つけて仲間に戻すところを見てもよくわかる。世界から隔絶された首都で情報を集めるために料理屋を始めるってのが、馬鹿馬鹿しくていい。
まあ少なくとも、カルキノスとスコルピウスが同じ場所にいてくれたおかげで、ルファスの手間は省けたけどね笑
スコルピウスといえば、飛んでくる攻撃を全部ものともしないのは圧巻だった。でもあの引きを見るに、リーブラの複製を作っておいたミザールの先見の明は大正解だったってことになりそうだ！
I'm glad this show is back! It wasted no time getting us reacquainted to Lufas's goals and recruiting Virgo into the party. She may not be as high leveled as the rest of the Heavenly Stars, but the team needs all the braincells it can get!
Which can be seen with them finding and recruiting Karkinos back into the fray. It's so silly that he decided to start a restaurant to fish for info in a capital that was isolated from the rest of the world.
But at least he saved Lufas the trouble of having both him and Scorpius in the same location lol.
Speaking of Scorpius, the way she was shrugging off all those attacks sent her way was formidable. But with this cliffhanger, Mizar having the foresight to make copies of Libra looks to have been a most wise move!

カルキノスがあんなに軽薄でおバカなキャラだとは思ってなかった。ルファスがああいう扱いを受けるのは新鮮だけど、やりすぎないでほしい。ルファスに言い寄るのはスコルピウスのほうだと思ってたよ。

I was not expecting Karkinos to be such a frivolous and dumb character, it's refreshing to see Lufas treated in that way, but I hope he doesn't overdo it. I was actually expecting Scorpius to be the one that flirts with Lufas.

Pretty fun episode to start off S2 and the fall season in general.

とりとめのない感想
こんなに早く来るとは思ってなかった！ 正直に言うと……放送当時はいちばん人気の作品ってわけじゃなかったけど、俺が続編をいちばん楽しみにしてたのはこれなんだ。今日いきなり新しい回が見られて本当に嬉しい。
確か去年のOPでウィルゴの加入がほのめかされてたよな、映ってた気がする……しかもあの子は、幽霊の主人と違ってちゃんと星座と同じ名前を持ってる。
ドワーフの巨大な移動要塞は予想外だった。春にやってた『蛮族の花嫁』を思い出すな、あっちもドワーフがメカを持ってた。
カルキノスはわりと好きだ……あと少し……ほんの少しで、クールで洒落てて恋愛相手にもなりそうな雰囲気を出せてたのに、仲間に「その作戦ちょっと馬鹿だろ」って突っ込まれて台無しに。みんなが気持ち悪がって、実はスープに脱いだ脚が入ってた、みたいな展開になるのかと思ったら、アリエスの「うっかり共食い」ネタが来た。あの場面の後ろでやってたお喋りが今回いちばん好きだったよ。
リーブラは自分の複製がいることにどう反応するんだろう？ いた、と言うべきか……生き残ったかどうか分からない。でも修理できるのかもしれない。
スコルピウスのデザインはちょっと廉価版シャウラっぽいから、『Re:ゼロ』4期の終わりに近い時期に登場したのは運が悪かったな。ルファスとのやりとりは、シャウラとスバルの関係の変態度を最大まで上げた感じになると予想してる。

Did not realize this would show up this soon! I uh...have a confession to make...I know this show wasn't the most popular the season it aired, but this was the one show I was most looking forward to coming back. So happy to get a surprise episode today.
IIRC the OP last year hinted at Virgo joining since I think she was in it...also...like she unlike her ghost master actually shares a name with a constellation.
Was not expecting giant mobile dwarf battle fortress. Reminds me of the Barbarian bride from spring, which also had dwarves with mechas
I kind of like Karkinos...Almost...just almost...comes across cool and debonair and even a romantic prospect, until the rest of the team call out that his plan was kind of stupid. Thought they were going to all get grossed out and it would be revealed they were eating his shed limbs or something in their soup, but no we get a accidental cannibalism joke with Aries. Actually the background chatter about that was my favorite part of this episode.
Wonder how Libra will respond to have clones? Or had them...not sure they survived. But maybe the can be repaired?
Scorpius's design sort of feels like a discount Shaula, so it's unfortunate her character shows up so close to the end of RE:zero season 4. I am expecting her interactions with Lufas to be similar to Shaula with Subaru, only with the perv behavior cranked up to 11.

Losing the Libra Corps is probably huge military loss for Blutgang since Mizar is dead and can't make new ones. Hopefully Lufas is able to fix them before she leaves.
Edit: Random thought about the similarities between Scorpius and Shaula (from Re:Zero). Not the same level of crazy, but them both being scorpion girls in bikinis is a funny parallel.

Its probably because of the manga—that one is still ongoing I think. I'm surprised that the 1st season got enough rep to justify a 2nd myself. Season one was a solid comfy watch but it didn't explode in popularity.
俺だけかもしれないけど、業界が変わって、スタジオが1期で切らずにシリーズを続けて何期も作るようになってきた気がする。前は漫画やラノベの宣伝扱いで1期で終わりだったのに。この夏はそこまで人気じゃなくても、すぐに2期が発表されたアニメがかなりあった。それに5〜10年前の作品がやっと2期をもらうケースも増えてる。配信の収益が漫画の売上を上回り始めてるんじゃないかな。最近、特に日本国外の配信収益が国内市場を上回り始めてるって記事を見た覚えがある
Maybe it's just me, but to me it seems the industry has changed and studios are more likely to stick with a series and give it more seasons instead of dropping them after 1 season because they're just an ad for the manga/LN. This summer season quite a lot of anime got a second season announced straight away, even if there weren't necessarily that popular. And we've been seeing a lot of shows from 5-10 years ago finally getting a season 2 as well. My guess is that the revenue from streaming is starting to outweigh the revenue from manga sales. I remember seeing an article recently that especially the revenue from streams outside if Japan is starting to outweigh the domestic market
