Probably a mix of logistics and efficacy. Bullets are fast, but lasers move at lightspeed. And lasers only require electricity while bullets require a lot to produce and transport.

作画が気合入ってる場面以外じゃ、FAオフ（フライトアシスト・オフ）の飛び方は描けなさそうな気がする。
クリシュナがスラスターを横向きに噴かすところを見せたのは、少なくとも良かった。でも船が飛行機みたいに旋回するのはちょっと残念（その手のことには最初から期待してないから、別に台無しにはなってないけど）

I have a feeling the animation is going to fail to show the FA-Off flying, though, outside of any sakuga.
Showing Krishna turning it's thrusters laterally is good, at least. But the way the ship turns like an aircraft is mildly disappointing (I never get my hopes up for that kind of thing so it doesn't ruin anything for me)

Caught this one at a con earlier. Not half bad. It kind of reminds me of the Intergalactic Empire isekai a little bit. Looks like Hiro’s building his harem err team before he sets off on his big adventure lol.

ファンタジーの代わりにエスエフの世界でやる、よくある異世界ものだね。これがもっと無いのが意外だ。

This feels like your standard isekai but in a sci-fi instead of a fantasy setting which I'm surprised there isn't more of.

出資側はSFアニメに金を出したがらないんだよ。「ニッチすぎる」って言って、SFアニメならプラモやおもちゃの宣伝として機能しないとダメだって言い張る。『カウボーイビバップ』だって、バンダイが宇宙船のおもちゃにこだわったせいで危うく存在しないところだった。ガンダムがあるのはガンプラが売れるからってのも有名な話。
一方ファンタジーは、出資側から「安全」と見られてる。この作品は何よりまず異世界もので押し通してズルしてるんだよ。異世界も安全な投資先と思われてるからな。

Publishers are unwilling to sponsor sci-fi shows. They find them to be "too niche", and insist that any sci-fi anime must function as an advert for plastic toys. Cowboy Bebop almost didn't exists because Bandai insisted on spacecraft toys. Gundam famously exists only because it sells Gunpla.
Fantasy, on the other hand, is viewed as "safe" by publishers. Reborn as a Space Mercenary cheats by being primarily an isekai, which is also considered a safe investment by publishers.

I did like how when he showed up in the colony it basically served as that part in a game where you get to set up your character name.

うわぁ…studio A-CATが作ってるのか…でもCGが重い部分を担ってくれるし、戦闘シーンの作画もほとんど主人公が真剣な顔で船を操縦してるだけだから、ある意味A-CATにぴったりのアニメかもw
とはいえ正直、頭空っぽにして楽しめる感じでかなり面白そう。今のところヒロは好きだし、あいつの恥知らずっぷりが笑える。とりあえず見てみて、どうなるか様子見するわ。

Oh nooo... Studio A-Cat is animating this... This might be the perfect anime for them since CG does the heavy lifting and most of their animation during action scenes is the MC looking intense while piloting his ship. xD
Not gonna lie tho, this one looks pretty entertaining in a turn-off-your-brain way. So far, I'm liking Hiro, and I think it's funny how shameless he is I'll give this one a shot and see where it goes.

For me, it is space maids.

宇宙戦のCGはかなり良かった。女性陣も今のところ、ヒロとその性格にうまく噛み合ってる感じ。

The space battle CG was fairly on-point. And the ladies are definitely seem to bounce off Hiro and his personality well so far.

ラノベから来た…制作スタジオがスタジオだけに、ひどいことになるんじゃないかとちょっと心配してた（そこの作品は一つも見たことないけど）。結果、思ったより良かった。それに推しの二人、セレナとエルマもアニメで悪くない。

Coming here from the LN... I was kinda worried that this would be screwed up considering the studio responsible for it (although I have watched none of the shows made by them). Turns out it was better than I expected. And my two favorite girls Serena and Elma are not bad in animation.

This is one of my two favorite LN series (Evil Lord of an Intergalactic Empire is the other). I have to wait until later tonight to watch it. "Better than I expected" is giving me hope.

この作品を見続けるべき理由：
1) ヒロが決断力のある主人公。敵を殺すのにためらいがない。
2) セレナが美人。
3) エルマが面白い。
4) FLOWのOPはきっと聴いてるうちにハマる。

4) The opening theme song by Flow will surely grow on us.

うわ、監督が宇宙戦のアクションカットをちゃんと頑張ってる。アニメにうまく落とし込めてて偉い。前半は期待以上。
後半はキャラとの出会い。キャラの立ち絵がちょっと退屈で動きがない（半分くらいはほとんど動いてない）し、引きのカットでヒロの顔が崩れてるところもあるけど、自分としては許容範囲。会話の運び方も好きだし、エルマの声が最高だったw
原作読者として、毎週見るつもり。

Alright watched the ep.
Wow the director is actually trying with the space combat action shots. Good job on adapting that into the anime. The 1st half is above expectations.
On the 2nd half we get to meet characters. The character PNG is a bit boring and static (they're barely animated half the time), and there are some far shots where Hiro's face looks scuffed, but it's serviceable to me. I do like how the dialogue are handled too, and I gotta say I LOVED those Elma noises xdd
As a novel reader, this will be my weekly watch.

2026年にもなって本当に宇宙SFアニメが見られるなんて、まだ信じられない。
この作品が大ヒットして、すごく見過ごされがちなこのジャンルに、ほかのスタジオもそれぞれの解釈で続いてくれたらいいな。

I still can't believe we're actually getting a space sci-fi anime in the year of our lord 2026.
I hope this show ends up being a huge success and then hopefully more studios will follow with their own take on this very overlooked anime genre.

だいぶ前に漫画を少し読んで気に入ってた。1話にしてはかなり良い。
相変わらず「伝説のドラゴン肉を売ったから冒険者ギルドに行って、新人だから強さランク表を見せられて、適性試験を受けたらみんなに驚かれた」っていうお決まりの流れではある。まあ、宇宙版で、例えの中身をそれっぽく置き換えた感じだけど。でもまあ、どこかから始めないとな。

Read a bit of the manga ages ago and liked it. First episode is pretty good so far, considering it's a first episode.
It's still following the "I just sold my legendary dragon meat so now I'm heading over to the adventurers guild and I'm new to the adventurers guild, so they showed me a power-ranking table and then I took an aptitude test and everyone was impressed" formular. But, you know, in space, with variables to the metaphor appropriately changed. But, you know, gotta get started somewhere.

主人公はElite Dangerousで何千時間も操縦してたからな。たいていの異世界ものと違って、操縦がうまいのにもちゃんと理由がある。

He had thousands of hours piloting in elite dangerous. Unlike most isekai him being good at piloting is warranted.

And at least it doesn't do the full thing and actually give him gold rank (or platinum rank).
Starting him at bronze is more restraint than 90% of isekai doing this kind of thing.

いきなり宇宙戦の真っ只中から始まって、キャプテン・ヒロ（古川慎！）と、クルーのミミ（稲垣好！）、エルマ（永瀬アンナ！）、それにメイドが登場！宙賊を叩きのめして素材を集めて、幸せな家族の家を実現させようとしてる！
OPはFLOWの担当で、すごく楽しくてアップテンポ。新しいSF世界で途方に暮れてたヒロが、素敵な女性クルーを揃えて冒険に出るまでが描かれてる！SFアクション！激しい宇宙戦！ビーチ回！可愛い女の子！これ以上何を望むっていうんだ？
行き詰まった会社勤めから抜け出す一番の方法は？大好きなオンラインゲーム「ステラーオンライン」の世界に転生すること。しかも売れるレア素材を山ほど積んだカッコいい船付き！強くてニューゲームの出だしとしては最高とは言えないけど！
もちろん、そのレア素材こそがヒロが宙賊に絡まれる理由そのものなんだけど、幸いクリシュナは迎え撃つ準備万端…一人は何が起きたか分からないうちに死に、一人の女は逃げようとして木っ端微塵、宙賊のボスはヒロにとどめを刺されるときママを呼んでる。悪くない。
もしこれが本当にオンラインゲームなら、ヒロがコロニーに着いてオペレーターに名前と船名を聞かれるところは、キャラクター作成の場面ってところだな。
ヒロはレア素材を大量に持ってて怪しいと詰め寄られるけど、それがセレナ（白石晴香！）と出会う絶好のきっかけになる。ホールズ侯爵の娘で、文句なしの金髪美人。セレナはすぐにヒロが危険人物じゃないと見抜いて、二人はかなり打ち解ける。ヒロに興味津々だ。でもヒロはこれ以上面倒ごとに巻き込まれたくないから、彼女とこれ以上関わるつもりはない。まあ頑張れ。
ゲームには無かった宇宙国家同士の緊張した対立があるのが興味深い。じゃあこのゲーム世界は、ヒロが覚えてるものとどれだけ違うんだ？
エルマを尻のアップで登場させるのが最高。胸は控えめだけど、それを補って余りある個性と生意気さ、そしてヒロの面倒を見て傭兵として独り立ちさせてくれる宇宙エルフであること。ただヒロは異世界主人公ステータスだから、初日からもう彼女を上回ってるんだけど。
ここは弱肉強食の世界で、若い女の子がさらわれ襲われながら助けを求めるのもごく普通の日常…でもヒロには銃と、困ってる人を助けるために身を張る覚悟がある。そしてその誰かがミミだった。
ASTERISMのEDもいい感じ。クレジットがパソコンの画面上に流れて、ヒロがクリシュナを操縦したり、クルーと話したり、セレナとビデオ通話したりしたあとで宇宙戦に入る。

Starting right in the thick of it with a space battle featuring Captain Hiro (Makoto Furukawa!) and his crew featuring Mimi (Konomi Inagaki!), Elma (Anna Nagase!) and their maid! Just destroying pirates and collecting materials so they can make their happy, family, home a reality!
The OP is very fun and upbeat, courtesy of none other than FLOW, as Hiro starts off lost in this new sci-fi world until he ends up with his crew of lovely ladies and goes on his adventures! Featuring Sci-Fi action! Intense space battles! A beach episode! And cute girls! What more could you ask for?
What's the best way to get out of a dead-end office job? Get reincarnated into your favorite online game, Stellar Online, right down to having a cool ship with plenty of rare materials to sell with! Not the best way to start off a New Game+ as it were!
Of course those rare materials are also the exact reason Hiro gets accosted by pirates, but luckily the Krishna is well prepared to deal with them...one dude dies before he even understands what happens, one lady gets blown to smithereens while trying to run away, and the big boss pirate guy is calling for mommy when Hiro finishes him. Not too shabby.
If this WERE an online game, Hiro arriving at the colony and the operator needing his name and ship name would be the set up for the character creation process.
Hiro is accosted for being suspicious with all the rare material he has, but it's the perfect excuse to meet Lady Serene (Haruka Shiraishi!), daughter of Marquess Holtz and an absolute blonde beautie. She's quick to see Hiro isn't a threat and they end up getting along pretty well, with Hiro fascinating her. But Hiro also doesn't want to get into many more trouble so he doesn't expect to get any more involved with her. Good luck with that.
Interesting that there's cosmic nations in tense conflict that did NOT exist in the game, so how different is this game world from what Hiro remembered?
I love how they introduce Elma with a close-up of her butt. What she lacks in the chest area, she makes up for in personality, sass, and being a space elf who takes Hiro under her wing and helps get him set up as a merc. Even if he has Isekai MC stats so he's basically already outdoing her on the first day.
This is a world of survival of the fittest where a young girl pleading for help as she's getting kidnapped/assaulted is just an average Sunday...but Hiro's got a gun and the willingness to put himself out there to save someone in need. And that someone was Mimi.
The ED by Asterism is nice, with the credits playing out on a computer screen as Hiro drives Krishna, talks with his crew, and has a zoom call with Serena before they engage in a space battle.

I feel like he got quite a good start. His ship aso seems to be rather special and unknown, so it's probably pretty "good" in stats, basically.
And tons of money
