I suppose it's an interesting take to explain why these goblins, which are apparently sentient and relatively intelligent, are still living so primitively.

I can't imagine how they are holding funerals that elaborate if they probably have goblins dying of old age every day of the week.

あと、死体はどこに埋めてるんだ？ たった1週間で3倍、4倍の大きさになるって相当な量の生体量だし、死体が魔法みたいに消えるわけでもなさそうだから、1週間で腐る肉をものすごい勢いで生産してることになる。質量保存の法則が効いてるなら、イナゴみたいに目につくもの全部食い尽くしてないとおかしい

Also, where do they bury the dead? To triple or quadruple in size in just a week is a lot of biomass to produce and it doesn't look like the bodies just magically disappear so they're producing a lot of biomass that goes bad in a week. Also, if conservation of mass is a thing with them, they should be like locusts eating everything in sight.

Whatever happened to Goblin Slayer anyway? Seems like there was this brief period where everybody was talking about it and then it just disappeared into the ether. I know that second season was pretty rough production quality wise—it was clear they were working with a different, smaller budget.

1期への批判を受けて2期はトーンを抑えたけど、それで新しい客が入ったわけでもなく、既存の視聴者は離れていった

They toned the second season down after a lot of the criticism of season one, but that didn't bring in new people, but it did lose the established audience.

今まで見た中でもかなり変わったアニメだ、悪い意味じゃなく。作画も声も音楽も、あまり映らない背景まで含めて、妙に穏やかな空気がある

This is one of the strangest anime I have seen, and I don't mean that in a bad way. The animation, the voices, the music, and even the background(even though they don't show much of it) give off a weird sense of calm.

2話まで観て、はっきり言える。これは自分が想像してたものとはまるで違う

After 2 episodes, I can comfortably say that this is nothing like what I was expecting.

転スラそっくりだったな。会社の後輩を助けるところから、死に際にぼんやり考えてたことに対応した世界に転生するところまで。でも後輩に「彼女と過ごしてこい」って言ったのは良かった、ワークライフバランスは大事。
ゴブリン全員が7日しか生きられなくて、葬式のたびに宴会をやるなら、この村は葬式以外何もできてない気がする

That was ridiculously Tensura, right down to helping a work junior and being reborn in a setting corresponding to his wandering thoughts as he died. I appreciate him telling the kid to go spend time with his girlfriend though, work life balance is important.
If all of these goblins only live for 7 days and they throw a party for every funeral I don't think they get anything done in this village besides that.

新しい世代の異世界ものではかなりお気に入りの一つだから、この先がアニメになるのが待ちきれない

Damn the opening is like literally the same as Tensura, huh? I didn't catch it when I read the Manga originally(it's been a long time, I have no clue when I stopped).
Easily one of my favorite new wave isekai though, can't wait till they adapt the future stuff

『レベル1だけどユニークスキルで最強です』『貴族転生』『没落予定の貴族だけど、暇だったから魔法を極めてみた』みたいな「名作」の作者か。どれもアニメ版は1〜2話で切ったんだけど、これに手を出す理由はあるのか？

From the author of such fine stories as "My Unique Skill Makes Me OP Even at Level 1", "Noble Reincarnation: Born Blessed, So I'll Obtain Ultimate Power", and "I'm a Noble on the Brink of Ruin, So I Might as Well Try Mastering Magic". I dropped the anime adaptations for all of the above after 1-2 eps, is there any reason for me to even give this one a shot?

言われてみれば、話の要素はたしかにかなり似てる。ほかの作品をなんで切ったのか知らないと何とも言えないけど、たぶんこれも切ることになると思う

Now that you mention it, they are pretty similar in a lot of the story elements. Without knowing why you stop watching the other ones is impossible to say, but you'll possible drop this one too.

『レベル1だけど』は2話の序盤で切った。1話の時点であまり興味がなかったんだけど、2話でバニーガールが本気で殺そうとしてたのが判明して、しかもその報酬に食い物をもらってたのを見てそこで終了。
『貴族転生』は2話が退屈で切った。
『没落予定の貴族』は2話で、女の子たちがこぞって主人公に魔法で隷属させてもらおうと殺到し始めたところで切った

My Unique Skill - dropped near start of ep 2. I was already not very interested in the first ep, but in 2nd ep it turned out that [My Unique Skill] the bunny girl really did genuinely try to murder him, and got rewarded with food for it and it was a drop at that point.
Noble Reincarnation - dropped because I found ep 2 boring.
Noble on the Brink of Ruin - dropped on ep 2 when [Noble on the Brink of Ruin] all the girls started falling all over themselves in a rush to be magically enslaved by MC

すごく楽しい第1話だった！ あまり期待してなかったけど、観ててめちゃくちゃ楽しかった。それに映像もかなりきれい！
設定のせいで転スラを強く思い出したし、アキラはなかなか面白いやつで、カレンとのやりとりが好きだった！ ただ、あの髪型はとんでもないから、ずっと帽子をかぶっててほしい（笑）
あと、アキラが「ものすごくムラムラしてる」って言ったのは笑った、特に下着姿の女の体みたいな木が出てきたところ（笑）

That was a super fun first episode! I didn't expect much, but I had a great time watching it. Plus, visually it looks pretty nice!
Thanks to the premise, it reminded me a lot of Tensura, and Akira is a pretty fun guy and I liked his interactions with Karen! Although I hope that he'll be wearing hats or caps all the time, since his hair is outrageous, lol.
Also, Akira's comment that he's incredibly horny made me laugh so hard, especially with that tree that resembled a female body in underwear, hahaha!

アキラが一人で兵士50人を食い止めて、魔王からもらったスキルで負かしたら全員がひざまずいたのは笑った。
正直、最後のあのゴブリンの死には少し心を動かされて、この先どうなるのか気になってきた。ありがたいことに2話はもう出てるから、続けるか決める前にそれを観られる

So the goblins live for only seven days, they don't need to sleep, and they have high s*x drives. I guess goblins would have a different sense of time to match their short lives, but it's crazy how they can live like that. Like, there would be a funeral every day. How can they even do things when all they do is f**k and bury the dead?
It was pretty funny how Akira held off 50 soldiers all on his own and how they all knelt to him after being defeated because of the skill he got from the demon lord.
Not gonna lie, the death of that goblin in the end kinda moved me a little, and now I'm intrigued to see where this show goes. Thankfully, episode 2 is already out, and I can watch that before deciding if I should continue or not.

7日の寿命は、火星まで橋が架けられるくらい論理の穴だらけだけど、頭から離れないのはあの手の込んだ葬式だ。
毎日一日じゅう葬式をやり続けることになる。葬式の最中に死ぬゴブリンが山ほど出て、そいつらの葬式もまたやらなきゃいけない！

The seven day lifespan has enough logical issues to build a bridge to mars, but the one thing I can’t get out of my head is the elaborate funerals.
They’d be spending all day every day just throwing funerals. You’d have tons of goblins dying mid-funeral, and then you’d have to throw more funerals for them!

転スラみたいな例を除けば、頭が空っぽで襲いかかってくるだけの殺戮マシンじゃないゴブリンってめったに見ない。こんなに……かわいい？ゴブリンはたまには新鮮だ。主人公は長生きできるスキルを手に入れただけじゃなく、魔王のスキルまで受け継ぐなんて運が良すぎる。あの「弱肉強食」のスキルを兵士に使ったのは笑った。0.0001秒でひざまずいてたぞ（笑）

Aside from like Tensura, it’s rare we ever get any goblins that aren’t mindless* *rapey killing machines. It’s kind of refreshing for a change to see them so…cute? How lucky our guy not only got a skill that makes him live long, he even inherited the Archfiend’s skills. Hilarious to see him use the “Survival of the Fittest” skill on those soldiers. They immediately bent the knee in like 0.0001 seconds lol.

I can see them getting all frisky at night then in the morning mourn for the old goblins who passed away peacefully in their sleep. That's daily life for them, since every life cycle repeats if their lifespan is only 7 days. Goblins being born, passing away, live a little, learn everything on day 1, earn their first and last day of work plus retirement money, then rinse and repeat.

思ってたよりずっと楽しめた。話の方向次第ではかなり面白くなりそう。無期限で村に縛られたゴブリンの悲しさをちゃんと描きつつ、それで村が滅ぼされずに済むなら本望だと彼が喜んでいたのが良かった。
妊娠中にまた子を授かるって、めちゃくちゃだな（笑）。アキラは自分の子どもたちより長生きし続けることになるんだろうか。でもゴブリンに興味がないみたいだから、他の種族と子を作りそうな気がする。

I enjoyed this a lot more than I thought I would, it seems like it could be really interesting depending on the direction of the story. I did like that they highlighted the sadness of the goblin that was life sentenced, yet he was glad that it was all that was needed to make sure the village doesn't get wiped out.

Lol conceiving a child while already pregnant is crazy. I wonder if that would mean Akira would keep outliving his offspring, but I have a feeling he'll conceive with other species since he's not into the goblins.

I think he looked more like ET with the short legs and really long arms, which is kinda weird when the rest of the goblins look more human like in ratios.

まず、そういう社会の基本的な成り立ち。生まれて大人になるまでに……何、1日？　1日半？　1〜2日で誰にどうやって何かを教えるんだ、全部遺伝で知識を受け継ぐのか？　誰にも技能を磨く時間がないのに、どうやって物を作るんだ。それとも物作りも生まれつき持ってるスキルの一つなのか？！
恋愛とか同意とかの基本も言うまでもない……ここReddit では年の差や精神的な成熟をめぐって文字どおり戦争が起きてるのに、人生経験が1週間未満の相手と主人公がどうやって付き合うんだよ？　生まれたての赤ん坊と付き合うようなもんだろ。
それから死について……村では毎日何十件も葬式があるはずだ。主人公は死んでいくゴブリンから276個のスキルを継いだ……1か月で……つまり自分がスキルを継いだ葬式だけ出たとしても1日に9〜10回は参列してる。1回に最低でも30分くらいかかるとすれば、彼の一日はほぼそれで埋まる。
実存的・心理的なトラウマと恐怖の面もある。知ってる相手が全員、1週間で死ぬ。毎週。毎週だぞ。他のゴブリンと話したり情を持ったりするのはほぼ不可能だ。出会うどのゴブリンも大人として働ける期間はせいぜい4日くらい、つまり仲良くなって相手を知って情が湧くほど話す時間が1週間分もない。
本気で、作者は「かわいい小ネタ、てへへ」以外に何を考えてたんだ？！　自分が主人公なら、この実存的な絶望の村から一刻も早く逃げ出す。

Wow, this is so stupid. The 7 day life span of your average gobo is such a dumb idea from a multitude of angles.
First of: Basic logistics of such a society. Birth to adulthood would like take ... what? A day? One and a half? How do you educate anyone on anything in a day or two, do they inherit genetic knowledge of everything? How do they produce anything otherwise if noone has any chance to develop craft skils for anything, or is crafting s**t one of the skills some happen to be born with?!
Not to mention some basics like love or consent ... we have literal wars here on Reddit surrounding things like age gaps and mental development, how the f**k is MC supposed to date anyone with a total life experience of less than a week? Thats like dating a newborn.
And about death ... They'd have dozends of funerals each day in their village. Our MC has inherited 276 skills from dying goblines ... in a month ... so he participated in at least 9-10 funerals a day, assuming he only attended those where he was the one to inherit the dead gobos skill. So, given they spend at least the bare minimum of like ~30 min per funerals his day is basically filled with just that.
There's also the existential/psychological trauma and horror of it all: Everyone he knows is dead within a week. Each week. EVERY WEEK. Talking or getting attached to another goblin is near impossible. Any goblin he'll ever meet will have like ~4 days of a working adult life tops, so less than a workweek to get attached to even get to know anyone or talk enough to them to care.
Seriously, what the f**k was the author thinking aside from "cute little gag, thehe" ?! I'd flee this village of existential doom asap as the MC.

えぐいのは、彼らが人間みたいに考え、人間みたいに暮らし、人間みたいに感じるってところ。

This anime is weirdd man. Not in the bad way of course. Dude's only 1 month old but he already gone through 4 gens of goblin dead of old age. And in a year, 52 generations passed away.
The f****d up bit is that they all think like a human, live like a human, and feel like a human.

The author should have made their lifespan a year. Like a week is just far too fast. The picture of a rabbit is used but they live at most 1-2 years.
I assume the author wants to show case how skills will broad across decendants through history. But again 7 days is just too comically short. 7 days is like the lifespan of some insects..

普通に葬式をやってたけど、見ながらずっと考えてた。毎日何十人も生まれて何十人も死ぬのに、葬式をやるのか？　一日中焚き火を絶やさず、次々に送り出して、残りの時間は葬式に出る暮らしになるはず。土葬にするなら、あたり一面お墓だらけになる。

They have a normal funeral and the whole time I'm thinking, they must have dozens born every day and dozens dying every day and they have funerals? They must just keep a bonfire lit and pass people in throughout the day and spend the rest of the time attending funerals. If they bury them, the countryside would be covered in graves.
