Maybe im reading to much into this from my age gap fetish bias but it really seems from this episode like she wants to be scold like a young girl for wearing clothes showing her midriff.

もっとよく見ろ。山田というキャラは、度を越して真剣に扱われたがることで出来てる。熱があっても働こうとしたのもそれだ。責任感と、仕事で自分の価値を測ることに、かなり不健全な関係を抱えてる
原作はこのあたりをもっと掘り下げてる。アニメの話数では全部は入りきらないだろうな。本当によく書けた作品だ

the manga goes way more in depth about this, and i doubt we've got enough anime episodes to cover everything, its a pretty damn well written series

正直、佐々木の一服の代償が『このネギとラーメンを田山の家に届けて』じゃなくて驚いた。アニメの看病回に慣れすぎてる。

NGL, I was legitimately surprised when the price for Sasaki's smokebreak wasn't "bring this leek and ramen to Tayama's apartment.", i'm just so trained by anime for the house-spouse & a cold scene

アニメを見始めた頃、風邪をインフルの誤訳だと思ってた。風邪で寝込んだ記憶なんて無いからね。

Early on when I watched anime thought they mistranslated cold for being the flu because I don't recall every being out of commission over a cold.

山田がベッドで佐々木と話す場面の光の描き方が素晴らしかった。それと、店長の電話に入っていた名前は本当にただの「やま」なんだろうな。山田とも田山とも取れる
この作品の紹介を聞いたとき、まさにこういうものを期待していた。最高の形で応えてくれた

The lighting when Yamada was in bed talking to Sasaki was incredible. And I assume it really was just "Yama" for her name in the manager's phone which could be Yamada or Tayama.
When I heard the premise for the show, something like what we've gotten is exactly what I was hoping for, in the best way possible.

The narrator even said that he didn't have any fashion sense, but I thought he looked pretty stylish during his shrine visit.

Yamada's such a glass cannon. She teased him, expecting for him to get all flustered only for him to answer earnestly without even realising her intention. It backfired hard, and she’s the one who ended up being speechless. Should’ve learnt that lesson, especially when she knew full well he’s as pure as a puppy.

年の功で山田の話を聞き、必要な言葉を言えた佐々木。だから彼女は過去の恩人と重ねる。同じ声なわけがないって、同じ人なんだよね。

This is one instance where Sasaki really got to show his age and experience in order to be able to listen to and tell Yamada what she needed to hear to unwind/relax.
So of course she conflates him with the "hero" from her past, even though she can't believe they have the same voice even though they did lol.

電話の間、後藤がスピーカーで全部聞いてる席に座ってるのが面白い。電子タバコじゃ満たされない分を、あれで満たしてたな。

Through the phone call its fun to watch goto sitting there listening to the entire thing... which was over speaker... and she got the fix that vaping doesnt scratch

少なくとも山田は、どこかの猫と違って熱があるのに無理して吸わなかったな。

At least Yamada didn't push herself to smoke with a fever, unlike a certain cat.

Seeing Goto find a way for Sasaki and Yamada to talk was the episode's MVP moment. I love that MILF, I mean, that manager.
Sasaki having bad luck isn't surprising, but suffering such bad luck actually paid off by letting him spend New Year's with Yamada. I hope they can somehow take their relationship to the next level.

I was wondering how they were going to play the cold trope here since he didn't have her number or know where she lived. I thought Goto might have sent him to her house or something but that seemed like too big a step for them and kind of pushing boundaries when they are adults and just smoking buddies.

Yeah same, this romance is really chill and even if it has some of the common tropes it still incredibly enjoyable because of they way they handle them. Another example that you don't need to reinvent the wheel to write a good work

後藤はあの夜、大当たりだ。佐々木に山田を説得させて休ませ、同時に恋愛ドラマも堪能した。

Gotou really hit the jackpot that night. She got Sasaki to talk to Yamada and convince her to stay home, and at the same time, she got her rom-com fix!
Is it just me, or does Yamada's dad look and act a little bit like Sasaki? I bet Yamada used to be really close to her dad when she was little. Also, we learn that she has sisters! Well, now I'm curious what the other Yamadas are like!

How Yamada can vaguely remember the "mystery office guy's" voice and even map his encouraging heart to Sasaki just makes the wall of forgetting his face that much funnier. It does give you hope, though.

I like the detail of the manager's phone just displaying Yama during the phone call, no hints from her at least.
And all those shots of Yamada in bed talking to Sasaki, my goodness.

One more clue Sasaki didn't catch on.. Gotou's phone call sceeen had Yamada's name on it? He needs more pocket warmers. I was chuckling at the fashion bit, I watched it twice.

Obviously on her phone the "Yama" is short for Yamada but he could also rationalize it as being short for Tayama.
