The part where they fast forwarded Lady Kvaravita’s rambling while everyone was barely holding it together was pretty hilarious. The lemon pie damn near took out Harij lol.
Also the legion of smiling maids who are probably just numb to and also swarmed Harij. Gotta take what real pleasure you can.
So it seems the King Nefrit likes ‘em young. It might not be uncommon in the show or even irl history, but it’s still pretty weird and gross.
Almost want that professor to steal her away, even if she doesn't return his feelings either. Although he's probably older than her too.
Looks like Harij might be catching some feelings. It’s kind of adorable watching him get all jealous of Tien. Y’know, witches can’t lie. He could always ask her about how she feels…

昼間にロゼのところへ向かうイケメンを見て、ロゼが身なりを整えようとしてる理由は彼だと、ティエンが即座に気づくのが大好き（笑）
王女は年のわりに大人で落ち着いてるけど、だからって許されることじゃない。この結婚を乗り切るのに惚れ薬が要るかもしれないって考えると、正直ちょっと胸が悪くなる。そんな目にあっていい女性なんていない

I love how Tien sees a hot guy going to see Rose during the day and immediately realizes he's the reason she's trying to clean up nicely lol.
Billaura is mature and composed for her age but that's no excuse. The idea that she might need the love potion to be able to get through this marriage is actually kind of sickening. No woman deserves that.

As grim as everything surrounding the circumstances of Billaura's request are, it cracks me up how Harij has to absorb some of her hardship in more lighthearted ways.

Honestly she seems like a very smart and competent person. I can only wonder if she's planning to use the love potion to get through this marriage because she doesn't think she can serve the Nefrit king otherwise or it's part of a plan to use it to be with the person she really loves.
I guess it depends on if she's devoted to her duty or her heart even when she's asked something so difficult to her most loyal knight.

Finally, feelings have been caught.
It was a nice surprise that they both had the same feelings about the table.
REALLY hope Rose can do more for the Princess than just the love potion, or at the very least we find out there was a misunderstanding and she's gonna marry someone her age she likes.

正直、ロゼとハリージュの恋と同じくらい、王女の物語と、政略結婚に苦しむ姿にも引き込まれてきた

Honestly I'm starting to get as invested in the princess' story and her struggle with this arranged marriage as I am Rose and Harij's romance.

なんとなく、最後にはあの惚れ薬を依頼人じゃない誰かが飲む予感がする。少なくとも、依頼人だけじゃないはず

Somehow got a feeling that potion isn't gonna be drunk by its intended client by the end of this (or at least not just them)

王女にぞっこんなマーシャルって新キャラが出てきたから、惚れ薬は彼のためかもしれない。王女がいなくなったら別の人を好きになれるように、心残りを片付けてるとか。王女はやり手に見えるけど、周りの人をそんなふうに気にかけてるのかも

given that we have this new character Marshall who seems to be head-over-heels over the princess, it might be for him too so that he finds someone else to fall in love with when she's gone and she's tying up that loose end
the princess seems like a girl boss, but maybe she does care about the people around her like that

ハリージュの胸は、ちゃんと燃えてる！ 完全に落ちたな。嫉妬してる姿がかわいかった。ティエンとの対面も、期待どおり楽しかった。ティエンは全部分かってるし、ちょうどいい誤解が生まれつつあって、話を盛り上げながら、ハリージュに自分の気持ちを分からせてくれそう。
いっぽう王女のほうは、みんなの予想どおりだったみたいだ。政治の都合で、祖父ほど年の離れた相手と結婚しなきゃいけないなんてひどい。だから惚れ薬は本当に王女自身のためで、そんな結婚でも満足だと自分をだますためなのかも。教授が王女に恋してるのも話をややこしくしてる。王女はそれに気づいてるのか、想いに応えるのか。メインの二人がのんびり過ごしてるのを見るのも大好きだけど、王女とその境遇のこともっと知りたい。かなり面白そう

Oh, Harij's heart is burning alright! My man is fully caught. It was adorable to see him so jealous. And his meeting with Tien was every bit as enjoyable as expected. Tien knows exactly what's up and we have a nice little misunderstanding brewing to spice things up and make Harij understand his own feelings.
Meanwhile, seems like our guesses were right about the princess. Awful that she has to marry someone old enough to be her grandfather for political reasons. So maybe the potion really is for her so she can trick herself into contentment in such a marriage. The professor being in love with her complicates things. Wonder if she's aware of it and if she reciprocates. Much as I love seeing our main couple just hanging out, I'd like to learn more about the princess and her situation too. Seems quite interesting.

ロゼがむっとしてティエンを追い払ってるのを、彼は見てた。ロゼにもう相手がいると思ったわけじゃなくて、ロゼは完全な世捨て人じゃないし、いて当たり前の存在でもないと気づいて、少し焦ってるんだと思う。

he saw that Rose was angrily shooing away Tien; i don't think Harij thinks she's already taken, but rather it puts a bit of pressure on him with the realization that she's not a complete hermit and he can't take her for granted
like there was that bit when he was picking up the apples where the clerk was like "i'm sure your lover will enjoy these" and he laughed it off, but he's not laughing now

かわいそうな王女には不幸な結婚だけど、精一杯うまくやろうと頑張ってる。仕事のできる王女だ。すごく真面目。
ティエンは今回、知りすぎたな。あとでロゼをさんざんからかうだろうけど、たぶん応援もしてくれるはず。

That's an unfortunate marriage for our poor princess, she's sure working hard to make the best of it though. Business princess, very serious.
Tien learned too much this episode, you just know he's going to give Rose a hard time about it later but probably also be supportive about it.
Harij getting jealous will hopefully be the kick in the pants he apparently needed to admit his feelings to himself.

Tien has indeed figured things out. Too bad Harij is still too young and impetuous to think clearly.
Harij messed up. He should have asked "Is there some reason that calling you Rose would harm you?" If she said "Yes" -- he could drop the topic. If "no", he could ask a follow up. He needs to be a bit more upfront with "Lady Witch".
Marrying a king with grandchildren older than her, what a dismal fate for the princess. I can't imagine the king's family will be very pleased or welcoming. Clearly her teacher has a crush on her (and I bet she has one on him as well). Even without the impending marriage, I can't imagine this alterntate romance would have a chance.

Nooooo. The subject was super uncomfortable for her. The gentleman behaved appropriately with no notes.
I gotta say, the animators really nailed it this episode. The emotions on all the characters' faces were conveyed beautifully without words. That look on her face was a stop sign, red light, and tornado siren all in one

i think he's trying to be careful not to abuse the Secret he has the privilege of knowing about her being unable to lie, that could so easily sour things.

I love how they were both gaslighting themselves about there being no meaning behind all the little things they share together. Harij truly is down bad though

Billaura is any countries' dream princess and Professor Marshall's. I have to wonder if she might return his affections, but if she does she doesn't show it and is probably more worried about the uncomfortable arranged marriage she has to deal with.

i feel like this is the first episode where it's mainly from his PoV, so it's interesting to get confirmation that he's in fact smitten even if he doesn't fully understand it himself

Yeah, it was good seeing what he thinks about Rose. It is clear that he is, or at least is falling in love with her.

I love the table bit. It's so easy to look at something like that from an outside perspective and see it as silly/ridiculous. But as someone that puts a ton of emotional value on tiny things like that, it really did hit exactly how painful and stupid you feel thinking you're the only one who cares about something so small. This author understands yearning.

ロゼとハリージュが名前で呼び合う日は、当分来そうにない。でもハリージュは、ロゼがほかの男といたことへの嫉妬と向き合わなきゃいけないし、ロゼのほうは、なんで彼がこんなに様子がおかしいのか分かってない。心の底では、ハリージュはロゼにとっていちばん特別な男になりたかったんだ……実はもうそうだとは、まったく知らずに。それでもロゼの幸せそうな顔が見たいから、焼きリンゴとパンを断れない。

Princess Billaura runs a tight and efficient ship. A delegate from Nefrit, the country she’s marrying into, showing up at a banquet? She set it up by having to sit through Lady Karvara’s long-winded monologue with an impeccable poker face (only matched by the lady’s maids) and makes sure EVERYTHING is perfect so she’s ready to greet the wife of the diplomat from Nefrit. There's also Professor Marshall who has an obvious crush on her even as she's set to wed into another nation. Tough break buddy.
But it's rough for Harij too...he's trying to make time for Rose but he's also feeling the pressure, as he's torn between his duty as a knight and his desire for the girl who is like a sister to him, Laura, to have a happy marriage and not end up with a king who is literally a grandfather when Laura IS ONLY 16. Like, jeez! And how does this pertain to the love potion?
Look at Rose happy in-spite of herself and actually letting her hood down and tidying up before Harij gets there! Even if it's Tien instead, it shows how she's grown.
Harij, on the other hand, is rationalizing his feelings and concern for Rose...at least until he sees her with Tien, sees how she acts around him (completely mistaking a family squabble for Rose being close with another man), and his mood plummets. On the plus side, Tien recognizes Harij as the new man in Rose' life AND finally lets Harij find out her name, so that's a win!
Rose and Harij are NOT going to be on a first name basis any time soon, but Harij has to deal with all his jealous feelings about Rose being with another guy while Rose can't seem to grasp why he's acting so off. Deep down Harij really wanted to be the most special guy in Rose's life...even though he has no idea he is. But he also wants to see Rose happy so he can't deny her baked apples and bread.
Not Harij moving the cup out of his sight so he doesn't have to look at a cup another man drank at Rose's place!

ハリージュの嫉妬は、リアルすぎる。自分も同じ気持ちになるから。せめて、ティエンのときと違って、ロゼがフードをかぶり直さなかったのには気づいたみたいで、少し嫉妬が収まって、その場に残れたんだと思う。

Seeing Harij jealous is too real because I'd feel the same. At least it seems he realized she did not put the hood up again like she did for Tien, so the jealousy decreased a little so he could stay there.

Why do I have a feeling that the love potion is for the Princess to end her betrothal so she can be with her teacher? My first thought was to take it herself so she can love her fiancee, but after meeting him, I'm rethinking it

Rose is still hiding her feelings for Harij because she believes he's going to never show up again after the love potion is done, so i think she's trying to keep things distant to keep her heart from breaking too hard

王女の計画が、結婚に耐えられるように自分で惚れ薬を飲むことじゃないといいな。それじゃハッピーエンドとは思えない。二人とも椅子に同じ気持ちを抱いてたのがかわいい。誰が来るか分かってたら、ロゼはそもそも片付けなんてしなかったはず。ティエンはライバルじゃないってヒントをいくつか出してたのに、ハリージュは嫉妬で目がくらんで気づかなかった。ロゼがなぜ、名前で呼ばれるのをあんなに嫌がったのか気になる。期待を持ちたくないからなのか、うれしすぎて照れて、気持ちを隠せなくなるからなのか

I hope the princess's plan isn't to take the love potion herself so that the marriage is bearable. That doesn't sound like a happy ending. Cute how they both felt the same way about the chair. If rose knew who was coming she wouldn't have cleaned up in the first place. Tien gave him a few hints that he isn't a rival but Harij was too blinded by jealousy to figure it out. I wonder why Rose was so against him calling her by her name. Is it because she doesn't want hope or it would make her too happy and embarrassed to hide her feelings?
