いちばん笑いを誘ったのは、さらわれたはずの猫猫の過ごし方です。壬氏と羅漢が血眼で探す一方で「その頃の猫猫、人生を満喫中」と書かれ、留守番を言いつけられてから出歩いたことには「悪さするまで6時間も待った！」と、妙なところで感心する声も出ました。
もうひとつの話題は、この回で初めて姿を見せた神美です。4chan では「神美、今日アニメ初登場。」と迎えられ、Reddit では「神美はとにかく恐ろしいし、中身も見た目も醜い。」という感想から、羅漢と対決させたらどうなるかという大喜利に広がりました。子翠がホオズキの実を食べていた理由をめぐる読み解きも、長く続いています。

Yeah in the LN Shenmei stabbed the sword through the curtain and it was so close to Maomao's face that it sliced some of her hair off. That's intimidating. Don't know why the anime changed it.

壬氏と父親が必死に探してるのに、本人は女友達とほぼバカンス気分で、祭りデートに出かけて、念願の研究もできて、自分のモリアーティと毒舌を言い合う仲になって、地元の子どもと仲良くなって…とにかく満喫してる。
Jinshi and her dad scrambling to find her and she's basically just on vacation with her gal pal, going on festival dates, getting to do some much needed research, becoming vitriolic pals with her Moriarty, befriending local children...just in general good stuff.
今回と予告を見る限り、猫猫には自分のモリアーティと、自分のベイカー街遊撃隊ができたみたいだな。

She's probably not pregnant as there's no belly to find. And the emperor doesn't like her. But I remember the episode when they were giving massages to the concubines there were rumours that Gyakuyo and Lihua were pregnant (true) AND there were also rumors Louhan (Shisui) was pregnant. Which didn't make sense at all chronologically. to me it's clear that there are forces trying to make it seem like she got pregnant. And perhaps she's been doing this sort of stuff to avoid so.

「指示がよく分からなかったので、もっと先まで進んでる倉田版の漫画を読み始めます。」
「Instructions unclear」（指示がよく分かりませんでした）は、英語圏の掲示板で定番の落ちの付け方です。言われたとおりにやったつもりが、とんでもない結果になったという体で書く冗談で、もとは説明書の通りにしたら妙なことになった、という報告の形をまねています。ここでは「小説に進め」と勧められたのに、わざと別の漫画版に手を出してみせています。

『紅夢』（原題 Raise the Red Lantern）は、1991年の中国映画です。米国のアカデミー賞で外国語映画賞の候補にもなり、英語圏で中国の妻妾制度のイメージを作った作品のひとつとして知られています。屋敷の主人がその夜に選んだ妻の家に赤い提灯をともす筋で、英語圏の視聴者が後宮ものを見るときに、比べる相手としてよく名前が挙がるようです。

シャーロック・ホームズになぞらえた冗談です。モリアーティ教授はホームズの宿敵で、「ベイカー街遊撃隊（Baker Street Irregulars）」は、ホームズが情報集めに使う街の子どもたちのことです。英語圏では謎を解く猫猫をよくホームズにたとえるので、薬の知識で張り合う翠苓を宿敵に、里で知り合った子どもたちを遊撃隊に見立てています。
総評
猫猫の行動は、半分あきれ、半分楽しむ書き込みが中心でした。「誘拐されてる最中に、さらに面倒に巻き込まれる方法を見つけるのは猫猫くらいだよ。」という声に対し、「猫猫はデータ欲しさにわざとさらわれたんだから、データは全部もらっていくんだよ。」と開き直った擁護が付いています。翠苓を質問攻めにする姿には、人質がどちらなのか分からないという感想も並びました。見張りに止められずに出歩けた理由として「子翠のかんざしが通行証になってたんだと思った。」と推理する人もいて、子翠が猫猫の性分を見越していたのではないかという読みが、何人かに共有されています。
神美については、羅漢と比べる書き込みが盛り上がりました。「笑、勝負にすらならないよ。羅漢が叩き潰す（口でも戦略でも）」という声のあと、羅漢の台詞を想像した大喜利が続き、「ああ。だから知り合いの女性がいたら、お前と同じ目には遭わないから安心しろと伝えておけ」という一言まで飛び出しました。ただ、「でも羅漢だって、最初は純粋な悪に見えたよな」と、第一印象で決めつけることに釘を刺す人もいます。
