The commie didn't get much screen time at all in the LN. They more or less took bits and pieces of Tanya's battle with Drake during notSealion (that got offscreened here) and gave Drake's feats to the commie. It's more of a "we need to give Sugita a more prominent role" kinda deal I reckon.

8/10. I liked Zettour, I liked Rudersdorf, I like kawaii duck Tanya and I liked the final fight, I liked it better than the first season overall. The only thing I didn't like is that Mary was presented as Tanya's fated rival yet she barely appeared this season, I wish she appeared more. At least she was badass in the final fight still wanting to f*****g murder Tanya despite being blinded.

正直ターニャはちょっと気の毒だとは思うけど、相手が神そのものなのに全部勝ったつもりでいるのがアホすぎる。できることといえば、叩きのめされてまた戦争に引きずり出されるたびに神を呪うことだけっていうのが、もう最高に笑える。

Ngl, I feel a bit bad for Tanya, but she's so f*****g dumb thinking she got everything won when she's going against God itself and the only thing she can do is curse him that anytime she gets BTFO and has to be dragged once again in the war is absolutely hilarious.

正直、これがほかの異世界物より幼女戦記が好きな理由だ。ターニャは強くて有能で、大抵は敵をボコボコにするのに、最後は必ず何かの目に遭って、望んだ平穏な生活には届かない。キリトにはなりたいけど、ターニャには絶対なりたくない。

Honestly this is what I love about Youjo Senki compared to other isekai (besides the setting being more original rather than Dragon Quest world wannabe), Tanya is skilled, strong, wins battles and more often than not BTFO's her enemies like most isekai main characters, but in the end she always ends up screwed in one way or another and never achieves the life of peace she wants. I would want to be Kirito, but I would never want to be Tanya in any way.

I was promised a season of Tanya vs Mary. Instead I got an entire season of talking heads with a single cool fight at the end.

海外向けの「evil」入りのタイトルはダサいし、いいかげん飽きた。
今期の各話タイトルをよく見てみろ、背景にちゃんと「幼女戦記」って出てて、evil なんて余計なものは付いてない。

フォン・ルーデルドルフはなかなか頭が切れる。ゼートゥーアが自分の首を狙っていると正しく疑っていたんだから。不運だったのは、偶然にも連合王国が同じ狙いを持っていて、彼の死が陰謀ではなく純粋な戦死になってしまったこと。死に際に、彼は間違ってゼートゥーアの容疑を晴らしてしまった。
ターニャの「早く戦争が終わってほしい」という願いもこれで台無し。代わりに待っていたのはパスタ野郎との全面戦争だ。3期まで9年待たされないことを祈る。

Von Rudersdorf's got quite the sharp mind, for correctly suspecting von Zettour of being after his head. It's unfortunate that coincidentally the Allied Kingdom had the same aim and so his death was a genuine war casualty instead of a conspiracy. In his dying moments, he incorrectly exonerated von Zettour.
So much for Tanya's wish for the war to end soon. Instead, she got a full-blown war against the pasta f*****s. Hope we don't have to wait 9 years for a third season.

this mission couldn’t have been known by more than 5 people, Rerugen and the other executives weren’t aware of it, so the people-in-the-know is Tanya, Visha and Zettour himself

I think... he got blown up and they didn't show it? She tells him they're going down together, starts a big spell while taking multiple shots to the shoulder, and then suddenly she's in front of Mary Sue.

描写がなかったってことは、ミケルはターニャとの交戦を生き延びたんだろう。死んだのなら、さすがに殺される場面を見せたはずだ。

They didn't show it, so Mikel probably survived that encounter with Tanya. Otherwise, they would surely have shown him being killed if that were the case.

今期は全体的に素晴らしかった。次を何年も待たされないことを祈る。この先どう終わるのか見届けたい！

The plan went to s**t pretty quickly but the allies all showing up at once was also sort of a blessing in disguise. Rudersdorf didn’t get assassinated, he became the victim of an enemy attack. And now the Zettour’s in charge. But what’s even changed other than the Ildoans getting stomped. I can’t believe the war’s gonna drag on. Did they not see Tanya’s drawing?? Damn it, Being X! lol
This was a great season overall. I hope we don’t need to wait ages for the next one. I gotta see how this ends!

おい！こんなところで終わらせるなよ、今すぐ続きをくれ！！結局帝国はイタリアに侵攻することになって、正直まったく理解できない。存在Xがゼートゥーアを説き伏せたとしか思えない。それはさておき、メアリーのターニャに対する常軌を逸した憎しみと、殺すためならどこまでもやる姿勢には敬意を表する。高高度の危険を無視して死にかけてたし。ターニャもかなり無茶で、あれだけの火傷を負って何発も撃たれながら確実に仕留めにいってた。

I can only imagine Being X convinced Zettour. That aside, I respect Mary's insane mindless hatred for Tanya and how far she's willing to go to kill her, she ignored the problems of high altitude and almost died. Yeah I was shocked too seeing that they end up attacking Italy too. I am starting to wonder if they plan to lose the war now. Like get the US involved and make a peace deal.

I liked the season a lot -- I hate that Tanya is singled out as "evil" in the title -- as the show presents plenty of persons/forces more evil than she is (especially Being X). 😉

Well, we can blame the translators for that, since if they had translated the Japanese title literally, it'd sound something like "The Military Chronicles of a Little Girl".

Quite clear in the narrative that Zettour did NOT set up that encounter (but was glad it happened -- as he did not aactually cause his friend's death). Being X almost surely set this up to punish Tanya...

Zettour probably found that even with more power in his hands he cannot get those in the capital to cooperate with getting peace.
But I feel that while Rudensdorf was trying to go out with a punch to protect the pride of the military, Zettour is trying to lose as fast as possible to protect the people (including the military)

原作からかなりの部分が飛ばされてるのは分かるけど、それでも1期より2期の方が好きだ。1期はターニャの独壇場だったけど、今期はゼートゥーアとルーデルドルフが彼女と並んで作品を一段上に引き上げてた

I like 2nd season better than the 1st one even if I can tell there's a LOT of skipped segments from the source, 1st season was Tanya's show but this season both Zettour and Rudersdorf elevate the show higher alongside her

今回の話は最高だった。ただ全体で見ると、あれだけ待たされた割に2期は期待外れだったな。とはいえ原作側の問題で、アニメ制作陣はよくやってた。自分は1期のバカバカしい荒唐無稽さの方が好きで、2期は政治劇が多すぎた

This episode was awesome. But overall, S2 was disappointing given all the wait for it. It's more of a source material problem, though; the animators did well. I enjoyed more of the silly absurdity of S1, while S2 was a lot of politics.
