いちばん盛り上がったのは、ジョニィが弾丸を回したところで曲が入り、それをベンジャミンが止めてしまう場面でした。「嘘だろ！ジョニィのテーマを止めやがった」「ほかのジョジョにはこんなことしないよな」と、ネタ半分の抗議が相次ぎます。ティムがスタンドを名付けた場面には「言った！あれを言った！気づいた瞬間に拍手した！」と喜ぶ声が上がり、stand という英単語がどの意味なのかをめぐる言い合いまで始まりました。
その一方で、アンドレが手当てもされないまま失血死していく描写には「妙に後味悪かった」という声が多く、最後に一人取り残されたL・Aに同情する原作既読者もいました。

第4話
ブンブーン一家の企みで、マウンテン・ティムはジョニィとジャイロを殺人犯だと思い込み、二人を追って「悪魔の手のひら」へ入ります。ベンジャミンの磁力で三人は引き寄せられて窮地に陥りますが、事情を察したティムはすぐに誤解を解き、この土地で目覚める奇妙な力を「スタンド」と名付けたことを明かします。追い詰められたジョニィは爪を回転させる力に目覚め、ベンジャミンを倒しました。傷を負っていたアンドレも力尽き、一人残されたL・Aは、一家の狙いはレースではなく、ジャイロの首にかかった賞金だったと告げます。

that part where benjamin got sliced the f**k up looked really great, and the part right before where they hyped up the bullet spinning just for it to cut off was pretty funny too

分からんのは、海外版の名前って普通は単語を近いものに変えるだけなのに、「Oh! Lonesome Me」からどうやったら「Lasso Blues」になるんだよ
What I don't get is that the localizations usually just change a word to something close, but how the f**k do you go from Oh! Lonesome Me to Lasso Blues
名前の変更ってたいていは海外の視聴者に分かりやすくするためだけど、これははっきり訴訟を避けるためだからだよ
because most localization changes are done to make things easier for a foreign audience to understand while these are explicitly to avoid potential lawsuits

If I remember correctly, the manga didn't actually show the devil's palm movements.
Tomb of the Boom 1と3は見た目が最高。砂鉄の効果音も相変わらず心地いい。ティムの弾を防いだのは格好よかったのに、その後あまり動かなくて残念

Is Tomb of the Boom the only stand in the series where multiple people have control of essentially the exact same stand at the same time? The only thing I can think of that comes close are stands that can switch users like Anubis, Cheap Trick, and Superfly.

みんな同じスタンドを持ってるだけ。7部より前にも、3部のスタープラチナとザ・ワールド、ハーミットパープルとジョナサンのスタンドがあるし、ダービー兄弟も似たようなスタンドだ。どれも血のつながりがある者同士（承太郎とDIOはジョナサンの体でつながってる）
They all just have the same stand. Prior to 7 we also have part 3 with Star Platinum and The World, then Hermit Purple/Johnathan's Stand, and the D'Arby brothers have very similar stands too. All between those who share a bloodline (jotaro and dio sharing the connection of johnathans body)

I personally like how in that one part of Mountain Tim's flashback, the Devil's Palm area looks almost alien and otherworldly with the usage of color and the way the terrain is shaped

全部は読んでないけど、今のところこの部のスタンド戦は前の部とちょっと違うっぽい。スタンドそのものが「見えなくても」、能力が何をしてるかは見える。スタンドが何をしてるか見えれば、回転で本体と戦える。それにジョニィもいるし
I haven't read all of it but so far it seems like the stand fights are a bit different than in previous parts. You don't necessarily need to "see the stand" to see the stands ability and what it's doing. And if he can see what the stand is doing, he can use the spin to fight the user. Also, he has Johnny.

That's pretty much it, we don't really see the stands themselves most of the time, you only see them when araki shows their parameters and all that.

漫画だとあいつはそれっきり出てこない。名無しの悪役に対して過剰に「残酷」なのは普段あまり好きじゃないけど、ここはかなりうまくハマってたと思う。場面の空気を重くしたことで「ジャイロの正体は？」って話が際立った。漫画だともっとギャグっぽく感じた記憶があって、カッコいい場面・気になる場面・ギャグの切り替えがチグハグだった
In the manga he doesn't show up again. I usually don't like overly "cruel" stuff on no name villains and whatnot but I think it worked pretty well here. It made the whole "what's Gyro's real identity?" topic stronger by making the tone of the scene more serious. I remember finding it more comical in the manga so it led to a more uneven shift between cool scene, intriguing scene and comedy.
後で再登場する前振りかと思ったら、漫画ではそれっきり出てこなかった。あれだけ戦い方が無茶だったし、アンドレは自分のスタンドで傷を塞げるんだと思ってた
I thought that it would be a set up for their return later down in the part but then they never showed up again in the manga. I thought that Andre would be able to patch himself up with his stand since he is so reckless in the fight.

I didn't like any of the Boombooms, but the father honestly deserved a worse death than what he got for letting him bleed out to his death like that.

Why the f**k didn't the Boombooms give Andre any medical attention after f*****g shooting a hole through his torso? He was literally visibly bleeding to death and feeling the cold of blood loss. How the f**k did they expect him to survive this?

His death actually makes me feel kind of sick. I don't even give a s**t about these characters, but him just dying like that while L.A is left crying for him feels bad man

Yeah L.A staying behind screaming as the Devil's Palm coils around him was brutal too. Especially since he's going down the slow slow road of dehydration

Refreshing to see the misunderstanding get instantly resolved by Mountain Tim talking to Gyro and Johnny like adults.
間一髪で助かったあと、磁石みたいに引き合ってると気づいて、5秒で全部見抜いたのが好きだ。評判どおりの、有能でクールなカウボーイだよ。
I love how Mountain Tim was able to figure everything out within the span of five seconds once he realized they were being drawn together like magnets after narrowly saving himself.
Guy lives up to his reputation as a consummate, competent, and cool cowboy.
大人なキャラが出てくると、いつも新鮮だ。
Seeing mature characters is always refreshing
ジョジョファンでも大半は気づいてないけど、悪魔の手のひらが隕石でできたって話は、5部の「隕石に付いてた宇宙ウイルスで人にスタンド能力が目覚める」設定と一致してる。
荒木先生が同じ設定をさらっと使い回してるのがいいね（5部でも大して重要じゃなかったし、話の筋に全然影響しないちょっとした世界観の小ネタなのがずっと好きなんだよね 笑）
Even most Jojo fans don't notice this, but the Devil's Palm being created by a meteor matches up with a meteor with an alien virus causing stand abilities in people in part 5.
It's a very nice way of Araki casually utilizing the same lore detail (one that wasn't too relevant in part 5 either, I always liked how it's a side tidbit of worldbuilding that doesn't impact the plot at all lol)

誤解が長引かず、マウンテン・ティムがジョニィがハメられたとすぐ分かってくれたのが良かった。こういうのを引っぱらずに、視聴者もキャラも見くびらないのはいつだっていいことだ。
ジョニィのは回転の出方が違うのかもね。あれもやっぱり回転だと思うけど、切り裂いたのはスタンドのほうなのかな、よく分からん。
それにこの世界では、スタンドを名付けたのはマウンテン・ティムなんだな。
あと今でも毎回見終わったら「Chain」を流してる。あれがSBRのEDだって自分に催眠をかけるのに成功した。
I liked how the misunderstanding didn't drag on and mountain tim understood that johnny was framed pretty quickly. it's always a good thing when a show doesn't underestimate their audience and their characters by letting stuff like that not drag on.
maybe Johnny 's spin manifests differently because I think what he did still was Spin although maybe his stand was the stuff which did the slashing im not sure.
and in this universe it's mountain tim who defined stands huh.
and I still play 'chain' after each episode. I've sucessfully hypnotized myself to believe that that's the sbr ed now.
ジャイロは回転を「技術」と呼んでたから、ジョニィのスタンドも回転の技術を使って、爪を独特なやり方で回してるだけなんだと思う。爪から線状に力を伸ばしてるとか。
Since Gyro called the Spin a technique, I suppose that Johnny's stand merely also utilises the technique of the Spin to spin his nails in a unique way, maybe by extending the force in lines out from his nails.
荒木が波紋とスタンドを組み合わせたのは、ジョセフとディオの一戦くらい。ジョニィはその発想の再来で、スタンドで回転を操ってるんだと思う。
Araki made up hamon and stands but only really combined them for one fight with Joseph and Dio
I believe Johnny is Araki going back to this concept where he's using his stand to influence how the spin works.

原作既読だけど、最後のL・Aがここまで気の毒に思えるとは驚いた。兄も父も失って、砂漠に呑まれていく。声優さんは日本語版も吹き替え版もお見事！
As a manga reader, I was surprised how bad I felt for LA at the end, losing his brother and dad while being swallowed by the desert. Kudos to the VA, both sub and dub!

but it’s probably cause I have no idea what the “noise 123” is referring to.
it isn't a refence to anything, they just put numbers after each one to refer to each version. So like Andre's stand is called "Tomb of the Boom 2" since they have different stands that just have the same power.

Great catch. I didn’t realise that at all but now it makes sense. “Noise” is a very weird replacement for “boom” though. So the fault is on the localisation team
海外版の名前は、集英社から直接来てる。ローカライズ班が決めてるわけじゃない。
The localised names come directly from shueisha. The localisation team do not choose them
誰も話題にしてないけど、マウンテン・ティムのスタンドの描き方は最高だった。体のパーツがシュッとつながる動きがかっこいい。

先週ベンジャミンがL・Aを叱ってばかりだったぶん、今週ふたりが打ち解けるのは良かった（その横でアンドレは、ベンジャミンに負わされた傷でじわじわ弱っていったけど）。
最後にああなったのはちょっと悲劇的だけど、人殺しの賞金稼ぎ一家だからあまり同情はできないな。
You know, after Benjamin kept reprimanding LA last week it was nice to see them bond this week (while Andre slowly succumbed to the wounds Benjamin gave him).
Kind of tragic what ultimately happened to them though I can't say I feel too bad for a group of murdererous bounty hunters.

すげえ、なんてスタンドだ！ジャイロもマウンテン・ティムもブンブーン一家には手も足も出なかったのに、ジョニィはあっという間に片付けた。使いこなせるようになったらどうなるんだろう。誰かに狙われてる以上、ジャイロ（ひいてはジョニィ自身）を追ってくる連中を相手にするにはその力が必要になる。
ローレンスを生かしておくのはかなり残酷（だけどお似合い）だ。家族がいなけりゃほぼ無力なまま、孤独を抱えて生きるしかない。
Holy. What a stand! Both Gyro and Mountain Tim could do nothing against the Boombooms but Johnny disposed of them in no time. Imagine what he could do once he had mastered it. He'd need it to deal with more people who're after Gyro (and by extension also himself) seeing as they're specifically targeted by someone.
Leaving Lawrence alive was quite a cruel (if fitting) thing to do. He had to live with the loneliness while at the same time close to powerless without the entire family.

Dont think he survives that, the family isnt high IQ to start with and there's a reason Tim made them leave quick. One foot bleeding out plus the environment shifting and all.

ジョニィの能力も早く知りたいけど、マウンテン・ティムのスタンドは戦闘でめちゃくちゃ応用が利きそう。攻撃が当たりそうになった瞬間、ブチャラティみたいに頭をバラバラにしてよける姿を想像してる。
あと正直、親父が足元を見たときはプレッツェルみたいに足がねじ切られてると思ったら、意外ときれいな切り口だった。
I'm eager to learn about Johnny's ability, but Mountain Tim's stand feels like one that's probably versatile as heck in combat. I'm imagining him about to get hit and suddenly he just splits his head into pieces to avoid damage like Bruno.
Also NGL when the dad looked down I was anticipating his leg being twisted off like a pretzel, but it was a surprisingly clean cut.

漫画は読んでないし、第1話はずいぶん前だったから、ジョニィの脚が動かないのをすっかり忘れてた。
So I didn't read the manga and the first episode was eons ago. I completely forgot Joestar's legs don't work.
ジョジョとジャイロはまだブンブーン一家から逃げてるけど、本当にすぐ後ろに迫ってるのはマウンテン・ティム！ブンブーン一家が「仕組んだ誤解」で、ティムは二人を殺人犯だと思い込まされてる。だから地の果てまで追ってくるけど、その先には全員を殺す磁力の地獄が待ってるとは知らない。
血まみれの殺しが父と息子を結びつけたのはいいことかもね。自分たちの仕掛けた惨劇を眺めてるときほど、ローレンスとベニーの仲が良かったことはない。しかも、目に見えて失血死しかけてるアンドリューのことはほとんど気にしてない。まあ、それが後で祟ることはないだろうけどね。
ジャイロはいつもの機転でガラクタの鉄を使ってマウンテン・ティムをかわそうとするけど、思ったほど効かない。でもありがたいことに、マウンテン・ティムは頭もスタンドも回転が速い。
キャラとスタンドのアイキャッチが帰ってきた！！！

JoJo and Gyro are still on the run from the Boomboom family but what's really right on their heels is MOUNTAIN TIM. What we got here is a bit of an "engineered misunderstanding" where the Boomboom Boys have got MOUNTAIN TIM convinced OUR boys are the killers so he'll chase them to the ends of the Earth not knowing that it'll lead them all to a mash of magnetic mess killing them all.
I guess it's nice that the prospect of violent and bloody murder has united father and son because Laurence and Benny have never got along better than when they've been observing the massacre their actions are about to cause. Also they barely seem to care about Andrew clearly bleeding to death. I'm sure that won't come back to haunt them.
Gyro's usual quick-thinking to use iron from debris to ward off MOUNTAIN TIM isn't as effective as he'd hoped, but thankfully MOUNTAIN TIM is quick on the uptake with both his mind AND his Stand.
Character and Stand eyecatches are back!!!
The Devil's Palm! A mysterious cursed and dangerous area of land where it's constantly shifting and transforming...and where humans' latent potential can be drawn out into fantastical powers. "That which stands against," AKA a Stand!
It's do or die time and time for Johnny to truly embody the Joestar spirit! But if he doesn't get enough time to pull off a Spin attack he'll use a different kind of spin...one that spins his very body, his fingernails, and can slice through anything in his path! Including Benny's hand AND his body! Johnny Joestar finally has a Stand!
Benny's dead, Laurence is left reeling from being made an orphan, and Andrew is dead from his wounds. The Boomboom Clan perishes in the Devil's Palm.
But there's still Laurences' warning: this was never about the race, they were targetting Gyro for a bounty on his head. The big question though: who set the bounty, why was it set on Gyro, and how many other races are after them!?

前回撃たれたのにジャケットに穴が開いてないし、ジャイロの耳にも穴がない、いいね。なんでマウンテン・ティムはまだあんなに遠いんだ？ジョニィたちはもう死んでてもおかしくない。足を切り落とされてから反応するのが遅い。ジャイロは「知らねえ」って言ったばっかりなのに、ジョニィ、なんでまたジャイロに聞いて、妙に黙ってるマウンテン・ティムに聞かないんだ？遅いけど、アンドリューがやっと死んだ。スタンドはまだ使えるんだから、今ジャイロを殺すか、射程に入るまで這って近づくのを何が止めてるんだ？
No hole in his jacket after getting shot last episode, and no holes in Gyro's ear- great. How is Mountain Tim still so far away? Johnny and the others should be dead by now. Late reaction to your leg being chopped off. Gyro just said he didn't know, Johnny; why ask him again and not ask Mountain Tim, who is oddly silent? Late, but Andrew's finally dead. You can still use your stand; what's stopping you from killing Gyro now or crawling so you can get closer so your stand's in range?

原文の後半 What happened next got a kino out は、前半の got a good laugh out of me（笑いを取られた）と同じ形に kino を入れた言葉遊びです。kino はドイツ語で映画館を指す語で、4chan では「映画のような傑作」と作品を手放しで褒めるときに使われます。本来は名詞なので「キノを取られた」という妙な英語になり、笑いも感動も一度に持っていかれた、という意味を崩した文で言っています。

ジョジョのスタンドの多くは洋楽の曲名やバンド名から取られていて、海外で正式に出すときは権利の問題を避けるために名前を変えるのが通例です。第4部の Killer Queen が Deadly Queen、第5部の Sticky Fingers が Zipper Man になったのは英語圏のファンには有名な話で、そのたびに「ダサい」と不満が出ます。Oh! Lonesome Me は1958年のアメリカのカントリーの名曲で、それが似ても似つかない名前になったことに首をかしげているわけです。
