This looks similar to that other show, My happy marriage, which was quite good. Hopefully this one can deliver too.

悲劇的でかわいそうな女主人公の少女漫画の恋愛ものが好きなら、これはかなりいいよ。病気のせいで何もできないヒロインだけど、自分の無力さに浸ったりはしない。

If you like tragic, pitiable, feMC shoujo romance, this is quite good. As useless as she is due to her condition, she doesn't wallow in her own helplessness.

もう『鬼の花嫁』より面白い。まあ、あっちはあっちで、間違った意味でかなり楽しめたけど。

This is already better than Oni no Hanayome. Although that show was quite entertaining for all the wrong reasons.

うーん、少女漫画の量産品だ。お約束もばっちり押さえてる。イカれた相手役、病弱でかわいそうな女主人公、ろくでもない継母と妹、でも父親はいい人、女主人公は有能で美人なのに「かわいそうな私」。完璧な量産品だよ。
OPと作画は気に入ったから、視聴決定。

Mmmmm, Shoujo sloppa, it even has the most basic tropes nailed down too, crazed male love interest, sickly and pitiable MC, s****y mom and sister but good dad, MC is both super capable and beautiful but woe is me, the perfect sloppa.
I like the OP and animation, so its a pick up for me.

I´d agree that this season is looking pretty cheap and almost unwatchable. So far i´m picking Apothecary diaries, Ranma and probably this one. That´s about it. I do have a massive backlog for seasons like this but what the f**k... why is it THIS bad?

The duality of Kouki Uchiyama Shoujo leads: they can either be emotionally detached hearthrobs or absolute unhinged yet loving psychos.

『Sparks of Tomorrow』のすぐあとだしね。あっちは少女漫画じゃないけど。どっちの収録も、相当楽しんだはずだ。

Right on the heels of Sparks of Tomorrow, even though that's not shoujo. He must've had plenty of fun on the recording studio for both these shows.

一番好きな声優で、『ホタルの嫁入り』を見てる一番の理由だよ。

He is my favorite seiyuu and the main reason I am watching Firefly Wedding.

Lynnとうっちー、主役の二人として完璧な組み合わせだ。

姉妹があんなに意地悪くいがみ合ってるのはちょっと悲しいけど、少なくとも紗都子は黙って引っ込んだりしないし、父親もそこを気に入ってる。
真実の愛とは、イカれてサイコな自分をまるごと受け入れて愛してくれると思える相手を見つけること。これは「私なら彼を変えられる」の話なのか、「私は彼から生き延びられるか」の話なのか。答えはこれから分かる。

It's kind of sad how the sisters' are so catty and mean-spirited towards each other but at least Satoko isn't a wallflower about it and her father loves her for that.
True love is finding someone who you think accepts and loves you in all your unhinged, psychotic, glory. Is this a "can I fix him? story? Or a "can I survive him" story? Time will tell.

誘拐犯を雇って殺させようとしたのは継母だと思う。護衛も誘拐されるのを知ってたんじゃないかな。グルじゃないなら、今まで見た中で一番間抜けな護衛だ。店の荒れ方からして、どう見ても大騒ぎで乱暴な誘拐だったのに、人前でさらわれるまで彼女を一人きりにしてたんだから。
あと、彼女がキスしたとき「え、それだけ？」って思った自分にツッコんでる。まあ、もっと踏み込んでたら、彼女も同じくらいイカれてるってことになっちゃうけど。

I’m assuming the stepmother was the one who hired the kidnappers to kill her. I’m also assuming her guard knew she would be kidnapped because if he wasn’t complicit he is the dumbest guard I have ever seen. He just leaves her alone to be publicly taken away in what was clearly a very loud and potentially violent kidnapping considering how the store was left.
Also I am questioning myself for thinking “no tongue?” when she kissed him. Although if she did they would have had to reveal that she was just as crazy.

It's not even like Satoko wandered off or anything, she stayed at the shop like he asked and she still got kidnapped the moment he left.

どう見ても継母だ。問題は、相手役がすぐに始末するか（殺気を嗅ぎつけるとかで）、それとも今期ずっと主人公の邪魔をし続ける悪役になるか、それだけだ。

Obviously the step mom, only question is if our ML will kill her immediately (since he can smell the bloodlust on her or something) or if she’ll be a recurring villain this season, constantly getting in mc’s way

この作品は容赦がなくて、そこが全部いい。独占欲の強い相手役の恋愛アニメで、もう一番のお気に入りになりそうだ。後藤はとんでもなく狂ってるけど、紗都子が言いなりになる子じゃなくてよかった。そのうち彼の狂気に張り合えるようになると思う。体は弱いのに心が強いところが大好きだ。父親だって、頭のイカれた殺し屋が未来の婿になるなんて、予想リストに入れてなかっただろうね、笑。

This show is pulling no punches and I’m here for all of it. This is already shaping up to be my top favorite romance anime featuring a possessive lead. Gotou’s so freaking crazy but Sakoto’s thankfully not a pushover so I think she’ll end up being able to match his crazy as time goes on. I love that despite her fragile health, she has a strong spirit. I highly doubt her father had a screwed up in the head assassin on his bingo card for future son-in-laws lol.

Yup. Even tied up and pinned down she still resisted. She saw that she could win Gotou’s protection and like Gotou himself said, she still kissed him even after the carnage she just witnessed. Sakoto’s a boss!
Gotou will definitely make for a very reliable bodyguard now that he’s officially head over heels in love with her. As unhinged as he is, I almost pity anyone who would dare harm Sakoto lol.

ok we got an interesting start.
A killer and a girl with a weak heart who could die soon. Her physical heart might be weak, but she definitely has a strong heart to kiss him after seeing all that. I feel the father is going to have a heart attack first when he sees his future son-in-law lol.

有害な恋愛の型は普段好きじゃないけど、これはちょっと好きかも。主人公が弱々しくておとなしいタイプじゃないのがいい。支えてくれる親がいて、本当に慕ってくれる人たちもいる。白馬の騎士の話かと思ったら全然違った。相手役がガチで狂ってる。

I'm usually not into the toxic love trope but I kinda like this. I love when the FMC isn't weak and soft spoken. She has a supportive parent and people who actually like her. I thought this would be some white knight story but not what I thought the MMC is legit insane.

This reminded me a lot of the trailer for The Man Who Saved Me on My Isekai Trip is a Killer.

Interesting that she said to her sister that she'd worked hard to look beautiful, but doesn't want to talk about her appearance with her father. I guess it's different when it's someone you actually care about.

紗都子の生存本能が目覚めるところの、音と絵の迫力がすごい。ざらついてるのに目が離せない。設定そのものもほぼそんな感じだ。

The intensity of the sound and visual design when Satoko's survival instincts kick in are so gritty and yet so mesmerizing, and so is the whole premise pretty much.

話にはよくある要素も多いけど、それでも面白い。殺陣の作画がかなり良くて、刀を振るたびに刃の速さが本当に伝わってきた。
ただ、最初の1分で話の大事なところをネタバレしちゃったのは、ちょっと残念。

The plot has some overused elements, but remains interesting. Combat animation was quite good, you could really feel the swiftness of the blade with those swings.
A bit sad they kinda spoiled a good part of the plot with the first minute though.

The fight choreography was pretty decent. The plot isn't exactly up my alley. But I might stick around for the sword work. The OP makes it look like there will be a whole lot of sword fights.

Goto, even if he is a skilled swordsman, must have lots of enemies given the number of people he has killed.

正直、異母姉妹が本当に仲良くしてたり、心から微笑ましい関係だったりするほうが珍しい気がする。でも少なくとも紗都子はやられたぶんきっちりやり返してる。
桐ヶ谷家はもっとましな護衛を雇うべきだ。せめて、用事のついでに彼女を置いていく男一人だけってのはやめよう。
後藤に必要なのは、心から尽くして愛してくれる子だけ……実は身を守るために手玉に取られてるだけでもね。あの冷静で理性的で優しい後藤なら、きっとうまくいくよ！

Honestly feels like it's rarer for half-sisters to actually get along or have a genuinely wholesome dynamic, but at least Satoko gives as good as she gets.
The Krigiya family needs better bodyguards. Or more than just one dude who just kind of leaves her to go on an errand.
All Gotou needs in life is a girl who is truly devoted and in love with him...even when she is, in reality, stringing him along for the sake of her safety. I'm sure this will end well knowing how calm, reasonable, and nice Gotou is!

満足です。
面白い設定、素晴らしい演技、（今のところ）作画のいい女性向け漫画のアニメ化、そのうえ男のヤンデレ……自分のために作られた作品な気がする（笑）。ただ「ホタル」が題名に入ってる作品にはちょっとトラウマがあるから、少しは傷つく覚悟をしてる。今期いちばん楽しみにしてた作品のひとつで、初回は期待を裏切らなかった！（あとOPがめちゃくちゃ耳に残るから、絶対プレイリストに入れる）

I am sat.
A fun premise, fantastic voice acting, a (so far) high production Josei adaptation, AND a male Yandere... I feel like this was written for me lol. I do have a little trauma though with titles containing Fireflies so I'm prepared to be hurt a little. This was one of my most anticipated series this season and the premiere definitely didn't disappoint! (Also the OP is super catchy and will definitely be added to my playlist)

この話にとって夢のような制作陣。特にOPが気に入った。最高の滑り出しだ。
紗都子はすごく面白いキャラだ。囚われのお姫様だけど、ただ怯えて無力なタイプじゃない。いつも自分の死と向き合ってるからこそ、賭けに出るのを恐れない。
それに俺のヤンデレ王子、後藤もなかなかのもの。ボイスコミックと同じく内山昂輝が演じてくれてうれしい。いつもの役どころだけど、まあいいや。

Dream production for this story. Especially liked the OP. And we're off to a great start.
Satoko is such an interesting character. A damsel in distress but not your completely scared and helpless kind. One who's not afraid to take chances, more so because she's constantly staring down the face of her mortality anyway.
And my yandere prince Goto is quite something too. Glad Uchiyama Kouki is voicing him just as he did in the voice comic. Playing to his type but whatever.
Can't wait to see more.

This season it seems the average animation quality has increased from the previous one, even more so if we consider that Cyberpunk is also coming up.
I haven't read the source material, but the story seems interesting.
I'm sold.

紗都子と美和子のやりとり、美和子が紗都子の体を心配してたと思ったら、一瞬でいがみ合いになった！正直、二人がああいう関係だとは思ってなかった！
紗都子が美和子の頬をつかんだ瞬間に、一気にこの作品にハマった。『わたしの幸せな結婚』みたいな話かと思ってて、あれは大好きなんだけど、紗都子が心臓が弱くてもやり返す爪を持ってるのがうれしい。
正直、父親のために育ててた花の花瓶を紗都子が買いに行ったとき、美和子が仕返しに花をめちゃくちゃにするんじゃないかと心配してた。まさかあの場面が誘拐で終わるとは思わなかった。O_O
だから、紗都子をさらって殺させるためにあのゴロツキを雇ったのは継母だと思ってる。ただ、頭目がなんで9時まで殺すのを待つのかは気になる。ただの偶然なのか、何かの儀式に使われるのか？うーん……
ほら来た、内山昂輝が演じるイケメンだけど不気味な男がまた一人。紗都子が交渉してるあいだ、後藤の考えがずっと本気で読めなかった。全部面白がってるのか、本当にどうでもいいのか。
でも紗都子は、乱暴されそうなところを助けてもらえるくらいには後藤の興味を引いたみたいだ。それにしても、うわっ！アクションシーンがかなりえぐかった！OPでどれだけ血まみれの作品かは予告されてたけど、後藤が戦うたびに大量の血を見ることになりそうだ。デイヴィッドプロダクションが作ってるのも知らなかったから、これからのアクションシーンがすごく楽しみ！
だって、命と引き換えならキスくらい何だっていうんだ？今の紗都子が助かる道は本当にそれしかない。でも、手に負える以上のものと取引しちゃったかもしれない。あのキスのあと、後藤が即座に恋に落ちるとは思わなかった！しかも面白いことに、この男はとんでもないヤンデレっぽい。男のヤンデレを見るのは久しぶりだ！

That interaction between Satoko and Miwako went from Miwako being concerned about Satoko's health to the two of them immediately getting catty! Honestly, not what I expected their dynamic would be!
The moment Satoko grabbed Miwako's cheeks is what immediately sold me on this show. I thought this was gonna be more like My Happy Marriage, which I absolutely love, but I'm glad that Satoko has some claws to fight back, even with her weak heart.
Not gonna lie, when Satoko was shopping for a vase for those flowers she's been growing for her dad, I was worried that Miwako would destroy the flowers as revenge. I did not expect that scene to end with her getting kidnapped. O_O
So I'm assuming it's the stepmother who hired these goons to abduct and kill Satoko. Although I am curious about why the leader wants to wait until 9 o'clock to kill her. Maybe this is just a coincidence, and she's being used for some sort of ritual? Hmmm...
Oh look, another handsome yet creepy guy voiced by Uchiyama Kouki. I was genuinely struggling to read Gotou the entire time Satoko was trying to negotiate with her. Either he thinks it's all amusing, or he just really doesn't care.
Seems that Satoko piqued Gotou's interest enough to save her from getting assaulted tho. And holy crap! Those action scenes were pretty gory! I mean, we already got a preview in the OP of how bloody this show is, but it looks like we're gonna see a lot of blood whenever Gotou gets into a fight. Also, I didn't even know DavidPro is making this anime, so I'm definitely looking forward to more action scenes in the future!
I mean, what is a kiss in exchange for her life? This is really the only way Satoko can save herself right now, but she may have bargained for something more than she can handle. I did not expect Gotou to fall in love immediately after that kiss! And to make things more interesting, it looks like our boy is a massive yandere. It's been a while since I've seen a male yandere!

前半で紗都子の人物像がうまく描かれてた。異母妹と違って、何事も当たり前だと思ってない感じがする。心臓が悪いのにあれだけ一歩も引かないのは、正直すごい。
進平はイカれにイカれてる。少女漫画でもヤンデレの相手役は見かける。『鬼の花嫁』を切る前、あれにもいた気がする。でもただ独占欲の強いヤンデレじゃなくて、女の子に「私なら彼を変えられる」と思わせるタイプのヤンデレだ。
本当にいいなと思うのは、進平を選んで生き続けるか、諦めるかの選択肢を突きつけられて、戦い続けるほうを選んだところ。進平は彼女の理想の相手とは程遠いはず。紗都子が正面から向き合いたい性格なのは分かってる。ここでは進平が紗都子を受け入れるんじゃなくて、紗都子が進平を受け入れてるのが面白い。
継母が誘拐に関わってるのはまず間違いないと思う。来週からどう進むか気になる。
あと演出が際立ってた。美術も素晴らしかったし、さらわれたあとの紗都子の心理を見せるやり方もよくできてた。

The first half of the episode did a good job characterizing Satoko. Unlike her half-sister, you get the sense she doesn't take things for granted. Honestly with her heart condition it is actually impressive she stands her ground the way she does.
Shinpei is crazy crazy. We do see yandere male leads in Shoujo series. Before I dropped The Ogre's Bride it felt like it had one. But rather than just a possessive yandere, he is the type of yandere where a girl might think I can fix him.
What I really like is that she presented the option to choose Shinpei and continue on living or give up she chooses to continue to fight. No doubt Shinpei is far from what she considers as the ideal partner. We know that Satoko wants to be up front. It's interesting here we have Satoko accepting Shinpei then the other way around.
I highly suspect the stepmother was involved with Satoko's kidnapping. Curious how things progress starting next week.
Also direction was standout. Great art direction in the episode and how the episode was showcasing Satoko's mental state after she was kidnapped was well done.
