Starting to annoying me everyone is annoyed at Myne for doing s**t wrong. Shes f*****g 7. On top of that no one trained her and shes a pleb. I can see everyone getting mad at her if shes like 15 or16 but a 7 year old? Even if she would be considered a genius for her time, the story is forgetting her in story age when total random strangers, like the soldiers, see her has a threat or something.

Holy, dammit cliffhangers, first bakarina and now this, this is going to be a long week waiting for the next episode.

ちょうど今からはめふら見るとこｗ 土曜は最高だよな。かぐや様、本好き、最後に究極の癒やしアニメのはめふら。今回すごく良かったから、先にみんなの感想が見たかったんだ

I am just about to go watch Bakarina lol. Saturdays have been so awesome, with Kaga first, Bookworm second, and finish with the ultimate feel good show, Bakarina. I just loved this episode I wanted to see what everyone else thought first.

俺は配信順に見てる。かぐや様、はめふら、最後にうちの小さな本の虫。
で、今回の話だけど、少なくとも俺にとっては本好きの真骨頂だった。マインが元の世界のものをこっちに持ち込むか、マインの目を通してこの世界の新しい一面が見えてくるか（今回はこっち）のどっちかなんだよな。
終わるときに来年あたりの3期発表もあるといいな。物語がやっと動き出したところって感じだし

I watched them in the order they come out, so Kaguya first followed by Bakarina and then finally our little Bookworm.
And speaking of this episode, for me at least this was Bookworm at its finest, which is either Myne bringing something from her world to this world or us (through Myne's eyes) uncovering new layers to this new world (which happened today).
Here's hoping when this ends we also get a season 3 announcement for sometime next year as it feels like the story is just now starting to get into gear.

Yeah, Gunther is always so happy when she needs him, he's a rather easy target for her. Effa probably has to be the strict one or Gunther would dance happily on his daughter's strings.

いや、魔力が神々に捧げられる話はけっこう前からあったし、オルドナンツはOVAに出てた。俺たち視聴者はマインと一緒に追いかけてるわけで、マインは今まで見たことのないこの世界の新しい面にいきなり放り込まれたんだよ

I mean mana going to gods has been there for a while, the ordonnonz was in the OVA. We the audience follow Myne and she was just tossed headlong into this new facet of her world she’s never seen

マインが日本っぽさを忘れてなくて嬉しい。あと、森の上を飛んでるときの音楽がファンタジーの雰囲気をぐっと引き立ててた

Glad to see that Myne hasn't lost her Japanese style. Also, the soundtrack that played during the flight over the forest really drove home the fantasy a e s t h e t i c.

俺の理解だと、これが貴族の文化全般なんだと思う。だから神官長が、マインが浮きすぎないように貴族のしきたりを必死に教え込もうとしてるんだなって今は納得してる

From my understanding, this is the general nobility culture. Which is how I now understand why Head Priest is trying so hard to teach Main the ins and outs of the nobility so she doesn't stick out as badly.

貴族っていう階級は、自分たちにしかできない特別なお役目（*本を作るために子どもを働かせる工場の仕事では断じてない！*）があるから、物事に独特の考え方を持ってるみたいだし、神官たちもせいぜい貴族の延長って感じだな。現実のカトリック教会みたいな尊敬や畏れは持たれてないようだし。
だから、まだまだいるだろうね

The nobility as a class seems to have a specific understanding about how things work due to their Special Tasks That Only They Can Do (*certainly not a task done by a factory force of Child Laborers just so we can have books!*) and the Preisthood seems to be *at best* an extension of the nobility since they appear to lack the respect and/or fear of the Catholic church in our reality.

So plenty.

これまでの回でさんざん匂わせてきたのが、ついに来た！本好きの世界のファンタジーの側面。ずっとじらされてたから、やっと好奇心が満たされて嬉しい。
本格ファンタジーの世界を庶民の目線から見せてくれるのがすごくいい。珍しくて面白い切り口だと思う

It has been heavily foreshadowed in the past episodes, and now it is here! The fantasy side af bookworms world. The show has been teasing it for so long, i am glad my curiosity finally can be satisfied.
I really like that we have been introduced to a high fantasy world trough the lens of the common people, a unique and interesting take.

悪い木か？ふう、本物の襲撃、反乱者の村を襲うとか、人間相手の戦いに連れていかれるのかと思った。それだとこのアニメには血なまぐさすぎる

Evil tree? Phew, I thought they were about to take her to a actual raid against people, like raiding a village of rebels or something. That would be too bloody for this anime.

このくるっと回るところ、最高にかわいい。少し経ってから気づいたんだけど、フェルディナンドが模様を少し変わってると言ったのは、マインが日本の巫女をまねて作ったからだと思う。こういう文化の違いを示す描写がよくあるんだよな

This little spin is the cutest thing ever. It took me a little bit to realize but I think the reason Ferdinand calls the pattern a little strange is because Maine fashioned it after a Japanese miko. They do a lot of these cultural divide signs.
Bonus Loop

今回のマイン、ずっとしゃべりっぱなしだったな。神官長のイライラが伝わってきた

I agree. I expected the magic to play a important role, but from what we had seen so far it would only me low-tier magic. Instead we got magic on the level of full fantasy tier.

地味に好きなのが、マインに関わってる人はみんな髪がつやつやで、そうじゃない人はぱさぱさの髪なところ。
あと……マインには大人がついてないとダメだ。至急！

One small detail I really like is that everyone associated with Myne has the shiny clean hair, and those that don't have the dull flat hair.

森での子どもたちの反応、覚えてるだろ？笛が鳴ったらすぐ反応して、攻撃して切り倒して、生えたら城壁の門番に知らせるところまで訓練されてた。育ちすぎたら倒すのに軍隊が要るって誰かが言ってたと思う

I mean you remember the kids reaction in the woods right? Like they were TRAINED to immediate respond to the whistle, start attacking/chopping, and even notify the guards at the wall when it happened. I think one of them said something about it needing an army to take out if they let it grow too much.

Correct..the kids would try to.kill it, if they couldn't they got the guards, and if they couldn't they would get the knights. Just depended on how big it got

and her kinda tsundere quiet dad ( i mean he looked really proud of her pretty dress)
the end card was beautiful the art never fails to amaze me
also if those guys harm main me and her three dads are going to kill them

Her dads also at 3 different classes lower class, middle class and the high class of society. She has precense everywhere.

Main is providing lots of needed funds and mana to the church. So I'm hoping this petty harassment to let her know her place not a actual attempt to kill their golden goose.

I'm guessing the either the Green haired Knight set the plant off or he knows she's not a Noble?

あの「祝福」は見せかけで、指輪は魔力をきれいな泡に変えるだけなんじゃないかな。
騎士の儀式が全部ああなのか、フェルディナンドがマインをかばうためにやったのかは分からないけど、緑髪の男はそれを見抜いてて、マインはうまく切り抜けなきゃいけなくなると思う。
騎士団長もマインに何かあると気づいてた。あいつも嫌な目でマインを見てたし

I think those "blessings" were just for show and that ring just convert mana into pretty bubbles.
I don't know if ALL knight rituals are like that or it was just Ferdinand trying to cover for Main, but the green haired guy saw through that and Main will have to navigate the situation.

The former option would be a little weird if we hadn't gotten some foreshadowing about some sort of coup conspiracy since if he gets found out he would surely get in a lot of trouble for forcing the knights to mobilize like this, so I'm guessing he somehow found out about Myne.

Here we are, at last! The first episode since the series has started that revealed that we are, in fact, in a fantasy-world with magic, knights, adventure, and more! It was incredibly exciting, but thanks to the world-building and storytelling up to this point, I can confidently say that I would never have been disappointed, even if it came later. So few anime can say "This is a fantasy," and hold back on the fantasy elements for so long and still hold your attention. It really is a testament that a well-written story and well-defined structure can hold up a tale far better than any special effects or lengthened fight sequences.

Other fantasy anime, take note.
