禁軍に攻め込まれた砦で、子昌は最後まで謀反の首謀者として振る舞い、兵に討たれます。真実を突きつけられた神美は、楼蘭妃が細工しておいた銃を手に取り、その暴発で深手を負いました。楼蘭妃は『一度死んだ者』への恩赦を願い出たうえで壬氏の顔に傷を付け、城壁の上で舞ったあと銃弾を受けて、雪の中へ落ちていきます。猫猫は仮死の薬を飲んだとみられる子どもたちのそばで眠り、壬氏はその寝顔を確かめに来ました。

キャラは好感が持てたし、テンポも最高で、毎回新しいことが起きて、新しい発見があった。あの頃の猫猫はただの下っ端の侍女で、侍女のふりをしてる大将軍の娘じゃなかったから、本当に危険があった。
The characters were likeable, the pacing was excellent, there were new things happening and new discoveries every episode. There were real stakes since back then Maomao was just a lowly servant and not daughter of grand commander larping as servant.

Here from Pixiv, Gyokuyou,Gaoshun and Lihua have homonyms from other series and don't have their own Kusuriya tag, so I couldn't check them.

Maomao's purpose in this arc is to make Loulan/Shisui likable to the viewers. Maomao likes her and sees her as a friend that means (You) should like and care about her too.
猫猫はそういうことに関われるほどの力も重要さも無かった。やってたのは後宮の謎を解くことだけで、それがときどき国の大事や皇族の秘密に触れることはあっても、猫猫はそういうことに深入りしないよう注意深く避けてた。本当にその場に踏み込んだのは、壬氏の暗殺未遂を防ぐ手助けをしたときくらいで、それもなぜ狙われてるのか、誰が裏にいるのかも分からないまま、主に個人的な心配からやったことだった。
She wasn't nearly powerful or important enough to be involved in that kind of stuff, all she did was solve mysteries in the rear palace which occasionally touched on matters of state or royal secrets, but she studiously avoided becoming too involved in such things. The only time she ever really stepped into that arena was helping to foil the assassination attempt on Jinshi, which she did mostly out of personal concern without realizing the reason he was being targeted or who was behind it.

子昌の結末は、死んだあとでさえ気が滅入る。
神美を取り戻すためにどこまでやったか、神美を守るために何をしたかを知ると…真実を告げられた神美にとって、それが全部裏目に出たなんて。
Shishou's fate is just depressing even after death.
Knowing about the lengths he went through to not only get back Shenmei but the things he did to protect her...Only for all of it to backfire on Shenmei after being told the truth.
神美への愛はとてつもなく深かったのに、神美には少しもその価値が無かった。
Incredibly deep love for Shenmei, she did not deserve it one bit.
神美は薬屋の中でも独特のキャラだ。ほとんどの人物は、先帝のような救いようのない悪役でさえ、理解はできる（許せるとは言ってない）理由を持ってた。
神美は最初から最後までクズなだけ。
Shenmei is unique among TAD characters. Largely everyone, even the most irredeemable villains, like the past Emperor, had an understandable (which is not to say excusable) reason for their behavior.
Shenmei is just a POS from the very beginning.
何度もチャンスがあったのに、毎回それを捨てた。あの結末は自業自得。
She had so many chances as well, yet threw them away everytime. She deserved her fate.

Shenmei did deserve her punishment but her dragging so many innocents with her leaves a bitter taste
神美は何度も立ち直るチャンスがあったのに、自分の野心のためにそれを捨てた。子の一族の腐敗の中心にいたのは神美だった。
人を傷つけようとする自分の性分で致命傷を負うのは、なかなかの皮肉だ。
子昌が無実だったとまでは言わないけど、愛に目がくらんだ愚か者だった。最後の芝居は、ほかの人たちを生かすためのものだった。
Shenmei got multiple chances to redeem herself, yet threw them away to serve her own ambitions. It was her who stood at the centre of all the Shi clan’s corruption.
There’s some great irony to Shenmei getting fatally injured from her own inclination to harm others.
I wouldn’t go so far as to say that Shishou was innocent, but he was a fool who’d been blinded by love. His final performance served to help others live.

He was a simp. A goddman simp. That woman wasn't worth his time, and he should have realized that decades before.
公平に言うと、妃が皇帝と寝ていない場合や、皇帝の関心が無くなって、実家（力が無い家）が引き取らない場合でも、貴族や高官に下げ渡されることがある（前のシーズンで、芙蓉妃が武功を立てた許婚の願いで一緒になれたみたいに）。神美の場合は（この回で説明されたとおり）、子の一族を牽制するために皇太后に留め置かれてた。だから子昌は、神美と結婚するために皇太后の歓心を買わなきゃいけなかった。
To be fair, unless a concubine slept with the Emperror and is not redeemed by her family (because they are not influental enough) when Emperror is no more interested in her, she can be just married away to a noble or high-ranking official (like Fuyo last season got back with her fiance because he asked for it for his military achievments). In case of Shenmei (as it was explained this episode) she was held where by the Emperess mother to keep the Shi clan in check. So Shishou had to get Empresses favor to get married to her.
うん、最後に子の一族の全容が明かされても、神美を動かしてたのは純粋な嫉妬と自己愛と、人に残酷にすることへの愛だけだった。
Yeah, even at the end when the Shi clan's entire story was revealed, Shenmei turned out to just be driven by pure jealousy, narcissism, and a love for cruelty towards others.
1期の羅漢みたいに、いい方向に描き直されなくてよかった。かわいそうな子昌。神美のためにすべてを捨てる覚悟があったのに。何ひとつ報われるに値しなかった。この台詞に注目してほしい。後宮で耐えたことのせいであんなふうになったわけじゃない。もともとそういう人間で、その経験が最悪の部分を引き出しただけだ。
I am happy she didn't get a positive spin like Lakan did in S1. Poor Shishou. He was willing to throw away everything for her. Deserved none of it. One thing to notice is this line. It's not that what she endured in the rear place that she became how she did. She was always like that, but that experience brought out the worst in her.
子昌はかなりいい人だったけど、運悪く神美に惚れちゃった（それにしても神美は思ってたよりずっと愚かだった）。
少なくとも若い頃の神美はかなりきれいだったけど、残念ながら年を取って憎しみの中で生きるうちに、その美しさも損なわれて、内も外もすごく醜くなった。
Shishou was a pretty good guy, but he was unlucky enough to fall in love with Shenmei (who, by the way, turned out to be a lot dumber than I thought).
At least when Shenmei was younger, she was quite pretty, but unfortunately aging and living with hatred took its toll on her beauty, making her very ugly both inside and out.
羅漢なら娘を危険にさらすようなことは絶対にしない。子昌は父親として本当に失格だ

なんて素晴らしい回だ。子翠の最期は、小説で描かれてたのと同じくらい詩的だった。最後の舞で流れてた曲には胸が張り裂けた。涙と鼻水でぐちゃぐちゃだ。
What an incredible episode. Shisui’s end was as poetic as how it was written in the LN. The song that played during her final dance was heartbreaking. I’m a big mess of tears and snort now.
＞子翠の最期は、小説で描かれてたのと同じくらい詩的だった。
前のシーズンとの対比もすごく好き。1期で猫猫が母親への手向けに舞ったのを忘れちゃいけない。子翠も、自分と一族に迫る破滅のために舞って、役目を見事に果たした。
Shisui’s end was as poetic as how it was written in the LN.
I also really like the parallels shown here and in the previous season. Let's not forget that Maomao danced as a tribute for her mom in Season 1. Shisui played her role nicely as she also danced for her and her clan's impending doom.
猫猫も子翠も、それぞれの舞で自分の過去と家族に折り合いをつけた。猫猫のほうは希望と幸せが少し多かったけど（身請けと、両親を引き合わせたことがあるから）、子翠は悲劇が待ってると分かったうえで臨んで…最後の最後までそれを引き受けた。
Maomao and Shisui both made peace with their pasts and their families with their respective dances, even if Maomao's had a tinge more hope and happiness attached to it (what with the wedding and getting her parents together at all), but Shisui knew going in that she was destined for tragedy...and she owned it to the bitter end.
子翠は（最後に）、あれだけ嫌ってた母親との約束まで守った。月の君の顔に傷を付けることで。ずる賢くて、それでいて本物の誇り高さの体現でもある。
Shisui (in the end) even kept her promise to her mother (as much as she hated her) -- by scarring the Moon Prince's face. Both devious -- and the embodiment of true honorability.
楼蘭妃は誇り高く去り、神美は惨めに死んだ。
Loulan left with dignity while Shenmei died pathetically.
子翠／楼蘭妃が望んでたのは、普通の暮らしだけだった。後宮での数か月、子翠は実際にそれを見つけて、居場所だと感じさせてくれる人たちにも出会えた。「庶民の暮らしを知らなきゃ」なんて口先だけの建前で変装してたわけじゃない。最初から、翠苓のそばにいるためにその立場にいたんだから。今、それは全部消えた。でも本人はそれでいい。これ以上血が流れるのを止められるなら、母親に、自分が拒んだものが何だったのかを思い知らせられるなら…すべてを賭ける価値がある。猫猫なら分かってくれる。
All Shisui/Loulan wanted was normalcy. For those few months or so in the rear palace, she actually found it, and found people who can reinforce that sense of belonging. She didn't disguise herself to pay lip service to the notion of "I need to learn what the peasants are like" because from the very start, she'd been at that level to keep Suirei company. Now, it's all gone. But she's fine with that. If it means finally stopping any more bloodshed, if it means making her mom realize what she rejected...all that is worth risking everything. Maomao will understand.

雪は落下の衝撃をかなり和らげるし、子翠を「殺した」胸への一発からは血が出てなかった。壬氏の言ってたことと合わせるとなおさら。

Ngl even though Loulan is certainly dead, I really doubt Shisui is.
Snow is pretty great at cushioning falls, and there was no blood from the chest shot that 'killed her'. Especially when combined with what Jinshi was saying

I am hard coping by believing that Maomao's pin stopped/deflected the bullet that hit her chest so Loulan became one of the "already dead" and now she's off living somewhere as Shisui with her sister.
よく見ると、弾は体を貫通してない。落ちるときに背中側が映るけど、そこには跡が無い。一方で前側では、弾が服を貫いたのが分かる…まだ泣いてるけど、生きてる可能性はかなり高そう
if you look closely, you see the the bullet didn't go through all her body because during her fall, we can see her from the back, but there is no trace, whereas in the front you can see the bullet did go through her CLOTHES... I'm still sobbing right now, but it seems very likely that she is alive

Yeah, they were a little too on the nose of Shisui surviving in this episode for her to actually be dead. They have this long close up of the bullet impact in the chest, but showed no blood at all. Also she spoke of an acting performance. I think it's pretty clear she ain't dead and just faked it.

子翠は、かんざしで姉の皇族の血筋を「明かす」ことで、姉のためにできることをしたんだと思う。そうすれば、問答無用で処刑されることは無いかもしれない。たとえ翠苓は、妹のいない世界で生きるくらいなら死んだほうがマシだと思ってるとしても。
Don't know how Suirei will cope...
I guess Shisui did what she could for her sister by using the hairstick to "reveal" her sisters' Imperial Blood so they might not be able to summarily execute her. Even if Suirei probably would rather die than live in a world without her sister.

This promise also included the hundreds (or could it be more) clan members who were punished/disenfranchised by her mother. (Dead to the clan -- so let them live).

子翠が死ぬのは見事な物語だし、子翠の役目の誇りも守られる。
でも、子翠が幸せになれるように楼蘭妃が死んだんだったら、私は幸せ。
翠苓と子翠は…幸せになるべきだ。
I am riding the highest of copium that her wish that "those who lost their names/died once be spared"
And that she had some sort of metal plate that deflected the killing shot enough that she threw herself over instead of staying on the tower.
And that Loulan died. But Shisui will live on.
It's the tiniest sliver of hope couched in the whole "we don't have a corpse to verify her death", but.
Shisui dying would be masterful storytelling and would keep the honor of her role intact.
But Loulan dying so Shisui could be happy would make me happy.
Suirei and Shisui.....deserve to be happy.

確かめてみたら、猫猫は「いつか返してね」って言って子翠に渡してて、子翠は「売っちゃうかも」って返してた。猫猫のもとにいつか郵便で戻ってくるか、市場で売られてるのを猫猫が見つけて、子翠が生きてたって分かるはず。あのかんざしを、猫猫のところへ戻すことなく消したりしないよ。
Doesn't Shisui have Jinshi's hairpin? I swear she took it from Maomao.
Actually I just checked, Maomao gave it to her saying give it back to me some day and Shisui replies maybe I'll just sell it. I guarantee Maomao will either receive it back in the mail, or she will see it for sale at a market or something and we'll know that Shisui lived. They wouldn't get rid of that hairpin without it coming back to Maomao at some point.
今回の主役は間違いなく子翠だった。特に最後の美しい舞。神美をだまして銃を取らせて使わせた手際も見事だった。

Shisui was definitely the star of today's episode, especially with that beautiful dance at the end, although how she managed to trick Shenmei into taking the gun and using it was also great.
All signs indicate that she is already dead, but since I haven't seen her dead body, I'm going to believe that she's still alive 😐
子翠／翠苓に起きたことのせいで、この回は本当に落ち込んだ（神美ふざけんな）。素晴らしい回だったけど、ちょっと悲しくならずにいられない。特に子翠は、猫猫が本当の友達と呼べるいちばん近い存在だったと思うから…確かに小蘭もいるけど、猫猫にとっては妹みたいなものだし。
I'm really depressed with this episode with the whole thing that happened with Shisui/Suirei (fuk u Shenmei). It was an incredible episode, but I can't helped feeling abit sad especially since Shisui is probably the closest Maomao can call a real friend... Sure, there's Xiaolan, but she's more like a little sister to Maomao.

Jinshi doesn't get enough credit for how shrewd he is. The author of this series writes both him and Maomao incredibly well as smart and observant characters
この作品の脚本は本当によくできてる。いろんな出来事の噛み合わせ方がすごく複雑だし、登場人物がみんな説得力のある賢さを持ってる。日向夏先生がずっと質を保ち続けてるのには驚くばかりだ。
The writing of this series is just so well done, all the various events are so complex in how they fit together and all the characters are so believably smart that I’m just stunned at how Natsu is able to constantly keep the quality up.

神美がいなくなったのはすごくうれしいけど、子翠と翠苓の結末の悲しさに完全に覆い隠されてる
While I'm very happy to see shenmei gone, it gets completely overshadowed with the sadness with how things turned out for shisui and suirei
壬氏が約束を守ってくれるといいな。翠苓には、全部終わったあと幸せに生きてほしい。

現実逃避なのは分かってるけど、壬氏は二度と「楼蘭」に会わなかったって言ったと思うから、ある意味、子翠なら戻ってこられるかも。
I know this is cope, but i do believe he said he never saw "Loulan" again, so in a way Shisui could come back.
無理だと思う。子翠は「この国始まって以来の大悪女」なんだから。残念だけど、仮に生きてたとしても（それは大きな「仮に」だけど）、一生逃げ続けなきゃならない 🙁
I’m afraid it’ll be impossible. She’s “the greatest villain the nation has ever seen.” Unfortunately even if she was alive, and that’s a big IF, she’d have to run for the rest of her life 🙁
