クェンティンとシャーロットは、一気に、この物語で一番賢い二人になったね。クェンティンは黒竜を見抜いて、シャーロットはフィーアが聖女だと気づいた。

Quentin and Charlotte instantly became the two smartest people in the story. Quentin for recognizing the black dragon and Charlotte for recognizing Fia is a saint.

それに、秘密にしておく賢さもある。ただ、黒竜への敬意があまりにも足りないせいで、クェンティンは血管が切れそうになって、何か漏らすかもしれないけど。

And smart enough to keep it a secret, though Quentin might let something through due to a aneurism from lack of respect towards the Black Dragon

クェンティンが秘密を守る側なのかは、よく分からない。黒竜の王を捜す任務のために、休みを取っていたと話していたし。
任務と、黒竜への敬意、そして恐怖の、どちらを優先するんだろう。

Yeah I don't know where Quentin falls on keeping the secret, considering he said he was on leave specifically due to on duty to find the Black King.

Like will he put his duty first or his respect (and fear) to the Black Dragon

今のところ、今回が断然、一番好きな話だ。この楽しいコメディの勢いが、これからも続いてほしい。

This is my favorite episode by far now. I hope they keep this fun comedic energy going forward.

ここまでを見た感じだと、気に入るかどうかにかかわらず、この作品は好きなことをやっていきそう。笑　もう少し正確に言うと、いろいろな要素を使っていくだろうし、勢いのある、前面に出たコメディも、そのうちの一つということだと思う。

Based on what we've gotten so far, I'd say the show is just going to do whatever it wants whether you like it or not lol Or more specifically, I do think it's going to continue working with all its elements but the high energy up-front comedy is only one of those.

「いつも、半分の大きさのほうが便利だと思っていたんだ」で、やられた。

クェンティンの感情の乱高下と、壊れた机への反応は、最高のコメディだった。旅で疲れて部屋に入ってきて、竜を捜しに出ていた理由を説明したら、その竜が自分の部屋にいると分かる。その流れ全部を、杉田さんが、すごくうまく演じていた。

The rollercoaster of emotions from Quentin and reactions about the broken table was absolute comedy. The whole part since he enters the room all tired from traveling to describing why he was out trying to find the dragon only to find it in his room was so great performing by Sugita.

誰も、人形が出てくるとは思わない。

No one expects the puppet.

勤勉さと、愛と、手仕事と、芸術と、一晩中の努力の結晶。フィーアが何を優先するかは、はっきりしてるね！

A work of diligence, love, craft, art and all night effort. Fia's priorities are clear!

最初の数話で分かったのは、フィーアが、お気楽なおとぼけだということ。その先では、どうやら、この世界には、順位を競う本気のおとぼけ勢がいると分かってきたらしい。

First episodes are realizing Fia is a casual goober. Later episodes are apparently realizing this is a world of ranked, competitive goober.

ついに、今の世代の聖女の中にも、例外的な子が出てきた。
シャーロットは、それほど力のある聖女ではなく、弱いくらいなのかもしれない。でも、少なくとも、気取った仲間たちとは違って、優しくて、人懐っこい。

Finally, we are introduced to an outlier saint of the current generation.

Charlotte may not be a very powerful saint, perhaps weak even, but at least she is kind and friendly, unlike her pompous peers.

フィーアが回復薬を作る時に言っていたことからすると、意志や、頭に思い描くことが、過程の重要な部分らしい。だから、彼女の優しさや共感する心が、そのまま効き目の強さにつながるんだと思う。

The intent and visualization seems to be an important part of the process, based on what Fia said while making the potion. So I think her kindness and empathy will directly make her more effective.

フィーアの言葉からすると、シャーロットのそういう性格は、聖女の力を正しく、十分に使う助けになるのかもしれない。魔力の流れは弱くても、水に力を込めるための正しいイメージを使える。「魔物たちが、どんなふうに治してほしいかを考えて」という教えが、回復薬を作る過程で、とても大切だったからね。

It seems like those personality traits of Charlotte may or may not actually help with the proper and full use of Saintly powers too, just from Fia's comment. Weak mana flow, but actually able to use the correct visualizations to infuse the water, given how central the instruction about thinking how the monsters would like to be healed was to the potion creation process.

精霊に聖女を気に入ってもらう、という要素もある。それが、時とともに失われたようだ。あの一回、フィーアの魔力が身体を流れたことで、精霊たちは、彼女に力を貸す気になりやすくなるかもしれない。

There's also the element of the spirits taking a liking to the saint that seems to have been lost with time. Just having Fia's mana flow through her that one time might make the spirits more inclined to give her their power.

フィーアが人形を取り出したところと、クェンティンの反応は、最高におかしかった。
フィーアを怒らせたら、自分も部屋のみんなも殺される、という彼の恐れが、シャーロットの敬意と対照的だったね。

Fia pulling that puppet out and Quentin's reaction was comedy gold.

His fear of being killed with everyone else in the room for upsetting Fia was contrasted by Charlotte's respect.

クェンティンが副団長を蹴ったのも、すごく笑えた。副団長は、何が問題なのか、まったく分かっていない。
机が真っ二つになったことへの、手のひら返しも大好き。

Quentin kicking the vice captain was also hilarious. The vice captain has absolutely 0 idea what the problem is.

I also loved his 180 on the table being broken in half.

副団長には、まったくついていない日だったね。あの朝、団長に怒られ始めたのは、あれが最初ですらなかったし。笑

Really wasn't the Vice Captain's day given that wasn't even the first time that morning a Captain had started laying into him lol

正直、あの部屋で、フィーアやザビリアを止められるのは誰なんだろう？　フィーアが言っていたように、シリルも強い。でも、災害級のザビリアには、遠く及ばないと思うし、フィーアも力を使えば、シリルを簡単に倒せそう。フィーアに気に入られておくという、クェンティンの方針は、とてもいい考えだ。

tbf, who in the room can stop Fia or the Zavilla? Cyril is strong as Fia mentioned, but I think he does not hold a candle to Zavilla which is calamity level, and I think Fia can fold him if she utilizes her power. Quentin's route of being on Fia's good side is a very good plan.

Yeah, Cyril doesnt even have an aura that Quentin can see.

シャーロットは賢い子だね。フィーアが聖女だと気づいただけじゃなく、何か理由があって隠しているとも分かった。
クェンティンは気の毒だけど、ほかの誰も問題に気づかないまま、二体の怪物が平然と歩き回っている状況にも、少なくとも慣れてきている。
シャーロットが気づいて、秘密を守ってくれるなら、正体を明かさずに、失われた聖女の知識や訓練を、フィーアが伝えられる道が開けるのかもしれない。

Clever girl Charlotte, figuring out that Fia is a saint but also that she must be keeping it secret for a reason.

Poor Quentin but at least he's getting used to the two monsters that are casually strolling around without anybody else noticing the problem.

Charlotte being aware and keeping the secret probably opens up a way for Fia to pass on lost saint knowledge and training without blowing her cover.

半年間、野外で生き延びていたんだから、ほかの人たちは本当に、彼に熱があるか、元の生活に慣れる時間が必要だと思っているんだろう。
兄たちは彼女を嫌っていたけど、それ以外のみんなは愛していた。自分の予想では、「自分たちが魔王を倒せるよう、勇敢にも犠牲になった」といううそを広めなければならなくて、それで教会が肖像画を飾ったんじゃないかな。
教会の奥に入れるのは、聖女だけのようにも見える。普通の人は聖女の名前すら知れず、ほとんどの聖女も、まだフィーアとは関わっていない。

He's been gone for 6 months surviving in the wild, they legitimately think he's had a favor or needs time to readjust.

The brothers hated her, but everyone else loved her. My guess is they had to sell the lie of her "bravely sacrificing herself so they could kill the demon king" and so the church put up her portrait.

It's kind of implied that only saints go to the inner areas of the church. Most people don't even get to know the saints names, and most saints haven't interacted with Fia yet.

いや、肖像画の件は、筋が通っているよ。嫉妬した兄たちには嫌われ、裏切られたけど、世間の人々は彼女を愛し、敬っていた。死ぬに任せて置き去りにしたあと、ほかの人たちには殉教者のように扱うのが、兄たちにとっては得策だったはず。肖像画を外させたら、望まない注目を集めてしまう。

Naw the portrait thing makes sense. She was hated and betrayed by her jealous brothers but the larger society loved and revered her. After they left her to die it would be in their best interest to treat her as a martyr to others. Making people take down her portrait would bring unwanted attention.

このアニメ、思いがけず、すごくいい。特に、フィーア・ルードの声と動きが大好き。

This anime is unexpectedly very good. I especially love Fia Rudd's voice and actions

うん、フィーアの声の演技は、素晴らしいね。普段は、聞いていて楽しくなる、元気なおとぼけの声。でも、場面に応じて、ほのかな寂しさや懐かしさを帯びた声に切り替わる。

Yeah, Fia's voice acting has been excellent. Usually it's a really pleasant high energy goofball voice, but it switches to something tinged with melancholy and nostalgia whenever the scene calls for it

そこは、フィーアというキャラクターの大事な部分だと思うから、声優さんが、見事に表現してくれていて、本当によかった。

That's a key part of Fia's character, IMO, so I'm really glad the VA is nailing it.

今週の『秘密を必死に明かそうとする、秘密の聖女』では……ついに、聖女が秘密を明かす。意外にも、五話かかったね。
ギデオンが、少し気の毒だ。確かに間抜けだったけど、二人の団長から、徹底的にやられていた。ザビリアを呼び捨てにしたせいで、クェンティンに腹を蹴られた時は、笑いが止まらなかった。この調子なら、フィーアとザビリアに付き合っていくには、クェンティンは大量の胃薬が必要になるよ。

This week in The Secret Saint Tries Her Hardest to Give Away Her Secret... the saint finally gives away her secret. Surprisingly it took five episodes. 

I kinda feel bad for Gideon. Sure he was a dipshit, but he got absolutely abused by two captains. I completely lost it when Quentin kicked him in the stomach for calling Zavilia by his name. Quentin's gonna need a whole lot of antacid to survive Fia and Zavilia if he keeps this up

I think a big part of this is that Fia thinks that hiding her secrets is quite important, it's just not *as* important as some other things like:

1. Doing the right thing for others out of kindness and compassion

2. Beating others in a fight even if they have a handicap lol

もしかしたら、貴族の子どもは、親の許可なしには、教会も連れ去れないんじゃないかな。

Perhaps the church can't just take away noble children without their parents permission.

ああ、三歳で母親から離され、聖女として教会に入れられるなんて、つらいね……あの子が悩みを抱えるのも、無理はない。
クェンティンは分かっているけどね。すぐ隣に座っている、本物のボス級モンスターのオーラを感じ取れる。それと、その膝に乗っている黒竜のことも。笑

Oh my, being taken away at 3 from your mum to join the Church as a Saint is brutal, no wonder the poor little girl got issues ...

Quentin gets it though. He can feel the aura of the literal boss monster sitting right next to him. Also, the Black dragon sitting on her lap. xD

「どうして、私の執務室に、災害が二つもいるんだ？」

"Why are there two calamities inmy office?!?"

>ああ、フィーアがシャーロットを助けたね。
面白いと思ったのは、シャーロットを見て胸が痛む前に、フィーアが、一瞬、手伝わないことも考えていたと分かるところ。確かに、筋金入りのおとぼけだけど、それだけの人じゃない。ちゃんと、いろいろな面がある。
シャーロットに手順を教えながら、フィーアが、聖女の本来のやり方に、また触れるところには、自分も心を動かされた。今の状況に深く傷ついていると分かっているから、その部分の自分を、少し癒やす機会のように感じたんだ。そういうことができて、よかったと思った！
>クェンティンは、フィーアの従魔印が羨ましいんだね。
フィーアのお腹が出て見える冗談を、三回続けたのに、今回は誰にも突っ込ませず、ごく当たり前のように、そこにあるだけにした。そういうところに、この作品の、しっかりしたよさが分かる。笑

What I thought was quite interesting is that you could see Fia consider not helping for a moment, before her heart breaks for Charlotte. She is indeed a total goofball, but that's not *all* she is; she certainly has her layers.

Indeed, I found myself quite affected by Fia getting to reconnect with the true ways of the Saints as she guided Charlotte through the process, it felt like a chance for her to heal that side of herself a little given that we've seen how the current state of things deeply wounds her. Made me quite happy to see her get to do that!

You can tell this show is proper quality because it made the Potbelly Fia joke for a third time in a row but this time did so by not having anyone call attention to it and just had it there as matter-of-fact lol

肖像画があることを考えると、この国で一体何が起きたのか、真剣に気になってくる。
フィーアは、前世で兄たちに見捨てられて死んだと分かっている。自分たちが死に関わったことを小さく見せるために、「話を少し直したい」というのは理解できる。でも、三人の誰か、一人はきっと王位を継いだはずだけど、その誰かが、聖女全般、特にセラフィーナへの態度を、百八十度変えたというのは、ものすごく不思議だ。
過去のセラフィーナが、今はあがめられているのは明らかだ。でも、記録を守るうえで、一番いい立場にいた人たちが、あんなに嫌っていたのに、どうして記録や姿が、これほどよく残っているんだろう。どうにも不思議だ。
分からないけど、たとえば、記録などの多くは、もともと王の命令で作られたもので、王は王位を譲るまでに、兄たちへ、実際に道徳心や敬意を教え込めた、ということなのかもしれない。

The existence of the painting makes me seriously wonder what heck is going on in the country.

We know that Fia died in her past life after being abandoned by her brothers, and like... I can understand why they might want to "tweak the story a bit" to minimize their involvement in her death, but it seems *incredibly strange* that any one of the three (one of whom surely inherited the throne) would make such a 180 on saints in general (but especially with respect to Serafina).

Clearly the Serafina of the past is venerated now. But how is it that records and depictions of her are so well kept when the ones in the best position maintain those records reviled her so? It just seems... all around rather strange.

idk, maybe it's something like, most of the records and such were originally made at the king's command and he managed to instill some actual morals and respect into the brothers before the throne was passed down to them.

彼女の死後に何があったかは分からない。でも、国の英雄である「大聖女」が、この物語の「魔王」と戦って死んだのなら、伝説的な存在として、もっと高く評価されるんじゃない？　兄たちが嫌っていた、あるいは単に嫉妬していただけだとしても、それを、王家の血筋を宣伝するために使ったはずだよ。

we dont know what happened after her death, but she was the nations hero "Great Saint" and died fighting the "demon lord" of this story, which would only elevate her persona as legendary no? Even if her brothers hated her (or were simple jealous) they would still use that to promote their royal family line.

フィーアが本当はどれほど強いか、気づける人が、少なくとも二人いてよかった。

Glad there are at least two people perceptive enough to realize how powerful Fia really is.

ここでの主人公は間違いなくフィーアだけど、自分の一番好きなキャラクターは、今やクェンティンになった。笑　あんなに生き生きした、楽しい人物にしてくれるなんて、さすが杉田さんだ。
幸い、シャーロットは、手がかりをつなぎ合わせ、フィーアの真実に気づけた。ただ、フィーアの助けなしに、自分だけで回復薬の泉の効き目を保てるのかは、分からない。見たところ、フィーアは魔力を流して泉を浄化するのを助けただけで、シャーロット自身の力を強めたわけではなさそうだったから。

Fia is definitely the main character here but Quentin is now my favorite character in the show lmao. I’d expect nothing less from Sugita to make him such a vibrant and fun character.

Luckily Charlotte was able to connect the dots and figured out the truth behind Fia. I don’t know how she’ll manage to maintain the potency of the healing potion spring on her own without Fia’s help. From what I gather, it seemed like Fia helped channel her mana to purify the spring and did not exactly boost Charlotte’s powers.

それなら、ほかの聖女たちも、本来より不利な状態でやっているように思えるね。

Which makes it seem like the other saints are also working with a handicap.

ほかの団長たちは、クェンティンの能力を知らないのかな？　明らかに様子がおかしかったのに、シリルは、それほど深く問いたださなかった。
シャーロットの目も金色だと気づいた。ほかの聖女たちにも、フィーアに似ているところがあったかは、覚えていないけど。

Do other commanders not know of Quentin's ability? He was clearly acting abnormally, but Cyril didn't question hard enough.

I noticed Charlotte had golden eyes too, I can't remember if the other Saint's have similarities to Fia.

Probably a bit distracted by having his chewing out of the 4th's Vice Captain so bizarrely interrupted lol He'll get around to wondering about it, probably a day later in the shower!

シリルも、本当は何が起きているか、ある程度は分かっていて、ただクェンティンより冷静なだけなのかな、と気になってしまう。
だって、「ただの新入り」のフィーアを、シリルも、かなり特別に扱っているから。

I can't help but wonder if Cyril also has a decent idea of what's actually going on, but is just more level-headed than Quentin.

After all, Fia is getting some rather unusual treatment from Cyril as well, given that she's "just a new recruit."

フィーアが話題になる、小さな打ち合わせを何度か見てきたことからすると、彼女には、間違いなく何か、とても変わったところがあるとは思っているんだろう。ただ、あの立場や地位の人たちらしく、今は、もっと証拠を集めている段階に見える。

I think the little meetings that we've seen people have where Fia comes up means they think there's definitely something quite unusual about her, but they seem to be more in evidence gathering mode which is quite befitting for men of their position and station.

シャーロットはいい子だね。でも、フィーアは、本当の回復薬が、どこから来たのか説明するのを、彼女に任せるのかな？
クェンティン団長は面白い人だけど、ザビリアの正体を見抜ける、賢い人でもある。

Charlotte is a good girl. But is Fia leaving it to her to explain the source of the true magic potions?

Captain Quentin is a funny guy, but also a smart one to recognize Zavilia's identity.

シャーロットは、回復薬の説明をしなくていいと思う。みんなが「本物」の回復薬は透明だと思っているのに、あれは緑色だから。それに、魔物たちに与えるだけだし、第四の人たちの大半は、あの仕事を嫌がっている。だから、どれほどよく効くか、見ないのかもしれない。

I think Charlotte won't have to explain the potion. It's green when they think "true" healing potions are transparent. Plus she's just giving htem to the monsters, which most of the 4th brigade hate doing that job so they won't see how well they work maybe.

緑色の回復薬は、透明なものより、ずっと早く魔物を治している。だから、少なくとも従魔の主人たちは、予定より何日も早く治った異常さに気づきそう。でも、聖女が何を言っても、たぶん誰も疑わないんだろうね。

The green potion heals the monsters way faster than the clear ones, so at least the familiar's masters should probably notice how abnormal it is that they healed days earlier than they were supposed to, but I guess they probably won't question a saint no matter what she says.

クェンティンが仲間に加わってくれて、すごくいい。笑わせてくれる。これで、フィーアだけが、この作品を引っ張らなくて済むね。

Quentin is a great addition to the cast. He's hilarious. Now Fia won't have to carry this show on her own.

この作品、本当に楽しい。ここまでは、フィーアが、とてもいいキャラクターなのが、大きな支えになっていた。でも、今回登場した新しいキャラクターたちも楽しかった。見ないほうがよかったようなものまで、見えてしまうクェンティンは、とてもおかしいし、シャーロットは、本当に優しい子だ。

This show is really fun. Until now it was mostly being carried by Fia being such a great character, but the new characters introduced this episode were fun too. Quentin being cursed with the ability to see things he'd really have been better off not seeing is quite amusing, and Charlotte is a real sweetheart.

このアニメ、過小評価されてるね。オープニングとエンディングも、今期で、特に美しい曲の一つだと思う！　ここまで、すごくいい！

This anime is so underrated and has one of the most beautiful opening and ending songs this season! It's so good so far!

自分は特に、エンディングと、その始まりで、フィーアたちが歌うところが大好き。ずっと聴くアニメ曲のプレイリストに、しっかり入れたよ！

I particularly love the ED, and the way they start with Fia(s) singing it. Saved to my long term anime playlist for sure!

黒竜についての答えも出たけど、あっという間だったから、見落としやすいね。
クェンティンは、黒竜には千年ごとに思春期の段階が来ると言っていた。それで、主人公が見つけた時、赤ちゃんだった理由が分かる。赤ちゃんの竜でも、新しい黒竜でもなく、成長の段階を繰り返しているんだね。
クェンティンまで、幼い竜を捜す秘密の任務に出されていた。従魔にしたかったのかな？

we got an answer about the black dragon, but it was so quick that is easy to miss

Quentin said the black dragon as a teenager phase every 1000 years, which explains why he was a baby when the MC found him. He is not a baby dragon or a new black dragon, he just has growth phases 😀

Quentin was even sent on a secret mission to try to find the young dragon, maybe they wanted to tame him?

この作品を試してみるよう勧められて、よかった。普段はファンタジーをあまり見ないけど、これは素晴らしいし、毎回よくなっている。シャーロットは、魔法が自分から流れ出る感覚を、今や理解している。フィーアは、ちょっとした一つの行動で、聖女のあり方を変えてしまったようなものだ。回復薬を作れず、透明なものを作っていた状態から、今はフィーア以外の一人が、仕組みをつかみ、魔法の成功に関われたんだから。
クェンティンが気づいたところも大好き。力を感じ取れるのは、フィーアだけではないらしいね。彼女は数値をつけられるけど、クェンティンは、自分をはるかに超えるものが、目の前にいると分かる。黒竜に何を聞きたいのかは気になるけど、フィーアが、どれほど強いか分かっていて、敵対できるほど大胆ではないと思う。

Glad I took the suggestion to try this show out, I don’t usually do fantasy but this has been great and keeps getting better every episode. Charlotte now understands what it feels like when magic flows out from her. In one small act, Fia kind of revamped the Saints from everyone failing to make a healing potion (as it was clear) to now one other than Fia grasping the concept and been a part of a successful spell.

I love how Quentin clicked in. Seems like Fia isn’t the only one who can sense power. She can assign a value to it, but Quentin can tell he’s in the presents of something well beyond him. I’m concerned with what he wants to ask the back dragon, though I don’t think he’s bold enough seeing how powerful Fia is to act against her.

同じ場面で、人形が二回もオチになるとは思わなかった。

I was not expecting the puppet to punchline twice in one scene.

It feels greatly insulting that the church still has old Fia as a mural, but has strayed so far from how it was back then.

公平に言うと、一番強くて、聖女たちを率いていた人を死に追いやったのは、教会じゃなく、王家だよ。それで、精霊が聖女たちと契約しなくなったようだから、過去の教えが、もう、そのままは使えないのも分かる。だから、昔はどうだったかを眺めながら、暗がりで手探りするしかなかったんだろう。

To be fair, it was the royal family who killed off the most powerful and leading Saintess, not the church. And it appears that this made the spirits stop making contracts with the saintesses so it makes sense that the teachings of the past would no longer apply. So they'd have to fumble in the dark while only being able to look on how things worked before.

クェンティン団長たちには、とても楽しませてもらった。生き物が、どれほど強いか分かるなんて、面白くて便利な能力だね。
フィーアには、シャーロットという、いい友達ができた。

I was very entertained by Captain Quinten and the others, he does have an interesting and useful ability that let's him know how strong living being are.

Fia has made a good friend in Charlotte.

今のところ、この作品で一番面白いキャラクターは、クェンティンだった。フィーアに必死でごまをすろうとする様子が、実に見事だった。
それに、フィーアには、シャーロットという、かわいい味方もできた。シャーロットとクェンティンが、フィーアの本当の姿を、最初に見抜いた二人になったね。

Quentin was the funniest character in this show so far. How he is trying to kiss Fia's ass was actually a chef's kiss.

And Fia got a cute ally with Charlotte. Both Charlotte and Quentin were the first ones to figure out what the real deal is with Fia.

あそこまで来てから、「ちょっと待って、ザビリアのことを知ってるの？」と思うところが、フィーアだな。笑

After all that, her thinking wait a minute, does he know who Zav is? LOL

この作品、本当に大好き。エンディングも、すごくいい曲だ。

Really loving this show. The ED is such a bangar.
