話の出来はクレバテス10点満点中7点。ただ、上がるか下がるかはこれから次第。キャラはまあまあだけど、世界観の作り込みはちょっと弱い。
絵は様式としては良いけど、ときどき描き込みが足りないし、CGもよく使う。とりあえず見続ける

ロメリアの助言は本当に的確だ。一人で戦うな、味方の位置を把握しろ、敵を殺し間に誘い込め、魔物の得物より間合いの長い槍に頼れ。しかも冷静さを保ったまま、指揮を執る連中を「叱って」る。
前回のスレで誰かが予想してたとおり、初めての心の声は何か大事なことを明かすものだった

The advice Romelia is giving is actually solid. Don't fight alone, know where your allies are, lure them into kill zones, rely on your spears as they have longer range then whatever those demons are using. She also keeps her cool and "scolds" those who are in charge.
Like someone predicted in previous episode discussions the first time she had a inner monologue it would be to reveal something important.

This story is really great at the slow, not-telling-everything narration style.

戦闘全体が意外と現実的だった。鎧は身を守るし、槍は隊列で強いし、剣は予備の武器。いつものアニメの戦闘と違って新鮮

The combat in general looked surprisingly realistic. Armor protects, spears are good in formation, swords are a backup weapon etc. Was a refreshing change from the usual anime battles.

I actually kind of like the fact Romelia isn’t just some kind of sword master. In fact, she doesn’t have any skill with the blade. Instead, she’s got a talent for command. Her calm demeanor and her ability to direct her men helped save that village.

Not losing their trust while obviously not having appropriate sword skills herself, says a lot about her commanding presence.

勇者パーティーを追放される系の話は、主人公が万能の力の器なんかじゃなく、長所と短所があってそれをうまく使いこなしていくほうがずっと面白い……

MCs are SO much more interesting in these "fired from the hero's party" stories when they are not perfect vessels of omnipotent power, but actually have strengths and weaknesses that they have to skillfully navigate....

このアニメのスピンオフでは、村の青い髪の女の子が大きくなって、ロメリアお姉さんの後を追って世界を救う旅に出る勇者になるんだ！ 😀

In an off-shot of this show, that blue haired girl from the village will become the Hero that sets out to save the world to follow Romelia-oneesans footsteps once grown up! 😀

婚約破棄の悪役令嬢ものだと、主人公の元婚約者と結婚する相手が、いろんな意味で悪人なのは定番だよね。
この作品が見せてくれたのは、ありがちなファンタジーアニメより見せ方が大人っぽいってこと。君の言うとおり、仕草から見て、少なくとも彼女は父親の企みに賛成してない

It's so common in this broken engagement Villainess series to have the one who is now marrying the protagonist's former fiancé to be evil in many regards.
I think one thing this show has shown is it has a more mature presentation than your typical generic fantasy anime. As you mention with the body language that at the very least she is not in agreement with her father's plans.

I agree, but I read her reluctance as I am not just a pawn in your game father. I have my own machinations.

「動物は私も好き。でもこいつらは動物じゃない。魔物よ、取り違えないで」って意味だと思う。必ずしも劣ってるってわけじゃなく、別物だから扱いも違うってこと。
とはいえ、ロメリアは民を襲う本物の動物でも、ためらわずに始末すると思う

I think it's more of "I like animals too, but these things aren't animals. They're demons, don't get it twisted." So it's not that they're necessarily lesser, just that they're different so they should be treated differently.
That said, I think Romelia wouldn't hesitate to put down an actual animal that's terrorising her people either.

あの場面で、本人の腕っぷしは大したことなくても優れた指揮官だと分かる。結局、レイへの命令を必要なだけ単純にしてやってた

That moment really highlights that she is a great commander even if her individual fighting abilities aren't the best. She ultimately made the request as simple as it needed to be for Ray.

それに、兵たちから離れた所でとどめを刺させて、仲間内でのレイの立場も守ってた。これで見続けようと決めた。細やかな配慮だよ

Also, allowing him to keep his position amidst the soldiers by making him get the kill away from them. That made me decide to keep watching this show. It is a nice touch

For a Noble Lady she was eating that meat like a common sellsword, a very cute sellsword but still.

I think her true role is maybe closer to being an extremely potent catalyst
Basically, she'll become the goddess of war they strongly believe in to bring them victory, a living talisman, while Al is the one who rallies the troops with his speeches.

I think her true role is maybe closer to being an extremely potent catalyst, where she both assembles the necessary ingredients and then expertly guides/nudges/forces them into the right reactions as required.
That sounds right to me. It would fit perfectly with her power of Grace. If people are in the right place at the right time and try to make something good happen, even if it takes a miracle, it will happen. But if they refuse to show up or fail to follow her instructions, Grace won't be able to help them. What she needs is their faith. If she had too much charisma, it would shift the focus to temporary passions rather than a deeper trust.
She's not making grand speeches, she looks absolutely goofy with a weapon, and she claims expertise based on adventures no one there witnessed or knows the details of. Can they follow her anyway?

今のところ分かってるのは、ロメリアの一番の目的が、王国軍がすぐには助けに来ない辺境の人々を助けることだってこと。教会の王国乗っ取りが邪魔になるなら、きっと何か手を打つと思う

So far we know that Romelia’s main goal is to help people on far-off regions because she knows that the royal army won’t be helping them anytime soon. If the church’s attempt to take over the kingdom ends up getting in the way then yes, she will likely decide to do something about it

I like how they’re showcasing Romelia actually using tactics and leading well, it’s something you see less often in anime. Especially as she’s actually giving good advice and commands
And good luck for you/bad luck for enemies is an insane power, especially for a commander

Romelia's grace ability sounds a lot like her personal skill if this were an FE game. Boosting the luck of her and her allies.

彼女の話からすると、味方に幸運を、敵に不運をもたらすってことみたい。たとえば急に降った雨。火はほとんど消えたし、デーモンキーは足を取られて動きがかなり鈍った。手入れの行き届いた装備の兵には大した問題じゃないから、全体として兵には得になる。
彼女の作戦を成功しやすくすることで、戦術眼を補ってるんじゃないかな

From what she said, it seems that she grants her side good fortune while afflicting her enemies with ill fortune. For example, the rain that suddenly fell putting out most of the fire and causing the daemonmonkeys to lose their footing greatly reducing their mobility. It's not that much of a problem for soldiers with properly maintained gear, so it's an overall plus for the soldiers.
I suspect that it also complements her tactical acumen by making her plans more likely to succeed.

btw my point was on a meta level, other stories would have some fluff piece of the commander taking the scaredy newbie aside and giving them a pep talk.
here, the author chose a more direct approach, it was an interesting deviation from the norm.

アルが打ち解けるのも分かる。それまでは兵をおもちゃ扱いして、最後は死なせる金持ちの子だと思ってたのが、本気で人を助けたいと思っていて、前線に出るのも怖がらない人だと分かったんだから

Makes sense for Al to warm up to her, before this he thought she was just a rich kid treating them like toys and ultimately leading them to their dead but now he knows she genuinely wants to help others and is not afraid to be on the frontlines

それ以上に、戦いの最中で彼より上の指揮官だと示した。前に出すぎた彼を引き戻したし、彼の部下から彼には引き出せなかった働きを引き出した

Even more than that, she's shown herself to be a superior commander to him in the heat of battle too, both in terms of actually having to pull him back into line and also extracting results from his men than he would not have been able to.

精鋭部隊がちゃんと一から作られていくのを見られるのもいい。よくあるアニメだと、最初から精鋭だからね。

it also is nice to see how an elite fighting force gets built right. I think in a lot of these anime they are already elite, Here we get to see them built from the ground up.

She's fearless because she's literally Domino haha.

ドミノなら、追ってきた魔物がつまずいて、手から飛んだ剣が宙を舞って、ついでに魔物を2匹まとめて串刺しにしてるよ…

If she was domino, a demon would run after her, trip, and the demon's sword would go flying off into the air and spearing two demons in the process...

ロメリアが実は戦闘の達人、じゃないのがいい。むしろちょっと下手。でもそれは彼女の役目じゃなくて、彼女は戦術と戦略の人だし、どうやら少し運がいいという特技もそっち向きだ。
ロメリアがレイを連れ出して魔物を殺させたのも面白かった。殺す覚悟はできてなかったけど、これで少なくとも1匹は仕留めた。
聖女の筋がどうなるかも気になる。あっちは政治の駆け引きっぽいけど、いずれ魔族の侵攻が計画に真正面からぶつかりそう。魔王の弟が攻めてくる直前に、王子が幸運の軍師を追い出したせいで王国そのものが滅ぶ、なんてことにならないといいけど

I like that Romelia isn't secretly some combat badass, she's even kind of bad at it. But that's not her role, she's more into tactics and strategy and her special skill of apparently being a bit lucky is more targeted at that anyways.
Romelia taking Ray aside to kill a demons was an interesting bit, dude wasn't really prepared to kill but now he's got at least one under his belt.
I'll be curious to see where the plotline with the saint goes, that side of the story seems to just be political maneuvering but eventually a demonic invasion might run straight into their plans. Hopefully the kingdom itself doesn't end up falling because the prince sent his good luck strategist away right before the demon king's brother comes for him.

The Ray and Romelia dynamic I am guessing is going to be a lot different now...I can't imagine he's crushing on her after the whole demon killing thing.

Sort of patterned on Joan of Arc, I suspect. In her behavior -- and in her impact on her comrades-in-arms.

裏では政治の話。夜会でのエリザベートの表情が、人を操る顔なのか、手に余ることに手を出したと気づいた顔なのかは分からない。実は悪人、じゃないといいな。父親は間違いなく悪だし、彼を突き出さない時点で多少は怪しいとも言えるけど、今のところは普通程度に策を巡らせてるだけってのもありうる。
さらに裏では、魔族の政治も。予想どおり、魔王が死んだからって魔法みたいに状況が良くなるわけじゃない。それに魔族にもちゃんと社会があると描かれた以上、殲滅戦争という前提そのものが問われることになるのかも気になる

Politics stuff in the background. Not sure if Elizabeth's expression at the party is meant to be a manipulative one, or realizing she's bitten off more than she can chew. I'm also hoping she's not secretly evil. Her dad definitely is, and you could argue that she's some levels of sus for not turning him in, but for now it's plausible that she's just normal levels of scheming.
And more in the background, we get demon politics. As expected, things don't magically get better because (1) Demon King died. And given that they're now shown to have a functioning society, I'm also wondering if the entire premise of a war of annihilation is going to be questioned.

If Romelia's power is basically good fortune, then it wouldn't be farfetched to think she actually have some contribution to the Demon Lord's downfall.

Yeah, she said it herself that even the Demon Lord was helpless before her ability.

「幸運」は力の一部にすぎなくて、「はっきりした戦術眼と戦略眼」と「人を奮い立たせる力」のほうがたぶんずっと大事だと思う。ジャンヌ・ダルクにそっくりだ。彼女もそういう資質に加えて、運の要素があった（逆風で川を渡れず攻撃が長く止まってたのに、彼女が着いた途端に風向きが変わったとか）

I think "good fortune" is only part of her powers -- "clear tactical and strategic vision" and "power to inspire" are probably even more important. Very like Joan of Arc -- who exhibited these characteristics, plus some element of good luck (like the wind shifting (right as she arrives) after a long period when an attack had been stalled due to adverse winds preventing a river crossing).

ここまで最高の出来。よく見る「ダメ王子の婚約者に捨てられた女性」の定番ものだと思って見始めたら、ずっと上だった。実はある意味『86』っぽい。（今のところ）偏見についての問いかけは無いけど。すごくいい

This show is excellent so far. I went into it expecting a pretty typical like, “woman spurned by bad prince fiancé” archetype like I often watch but this is much more. It sort of reminds me of 86 in a way actually, minus the commentary on prejudice (so far). Great stuff

Same, this series has exceeded my expectations by a lot week after week. Looks as good as Sentenced to be a hero but with a much more intriguing story so far!

Romelia dragging Ray out to re-enact Palpatine's "dew it" against the daemonkey. I said this last episode too, but in another show, I could easily see Romelia as the manipulative villain.

村での戦いの演出がすごく良かった。煙、隊から隊へ飛び移る炎、混乱のすべて、そしてそのど真ん中で冷静なロメリア。
アニメでここまで没入できるのは珍しい

The battle in the town was so well directed. The smoke, the fires jumping between the groups, all the chaos and Romelia in the middle of it all keeping a cool head.
Rare to see such an immersive experience in anime.

ついにロメリアが戦場をどう操るのかが見られて、しかも完璧にやってのけた！ 剣はびっくりするほど下手なのに、指揮官としてはとんでもなく優秀だから全然問題ないのが面白い。
一か所にとどまらず戦場を動き回って、苦戦してる所を助け、戦況に合わせて手を変えていくのが好き。レイが隊をうまく率いられてないと気づいて、指揮を双子に移したところとか。
それに戦いが終わって後始末をしてるとき、ロメリアがわざわざレイを連れて行って、逃げる魔物にとどめを刺せと命じ、敵を殺せない兵は要らないとはっきり示したのも好き。
正直、この作品は切るつもりだったけど、ロメリアと新兵の部隊が村を救うあの場面まるごとで、見続けようと決めた。
それに陰謀も動き出してる。エリザベートと父親が王位を狙ってる。ただ王子と結婚したいだけかと思ってた。それだけじゃないと分かってよかった。そして魔王の弟は、兄を倒すほど強いやつと戦いたくて攻めてくる

We finally get to see how Romelia controls the battlefield, and she absolutely killed it! It's funny how bad she is at sword fighting, but that doesn't really matter since Romelia is an absolutely amazing commander.
I love how she wasn't stationary and kept roaming the battlefield, assisting those who were struggling and adapting as the battle went on. Like how she noticed that Rey was doing a poor job leading his unit and transferred the command to the twins.
I also love how, after the battle is over and they were doing cleanup, Romelia made sure to bring Rey with her and ordered him to finish off the fleeing demon and made it clear she doesn't want soldiers who can't kill their enemies.
Not gonna lie, I was ready to drop this show, but that entire scene of Romelia and her band of newbie soldiers saving the village convinced me to continue watching.
And it looks like we have intrigue brewing too, with Elizabeth and her father planning to take the throne. And here I thought she just wanted to marry the prince. Good to know there's more to it than that. And the demon king's brother is here to invade because he wants to fight the person who was strong enough to kill his brother.

なぜかは分からないけど、エリザベートは父親の王位奪取にそこまで乗り気には見えない。話し方や仕草からして、父親の計画に全面的に賛成してるわけじゃなさそう。
それに、エリザベートが貴族たちの相手をしてる場面で音がぼやけていく演出からも、本当はああいうのが苦手なんじゃないかと思う

I don't know why but I don't think Elizabeth appears to be that willing to help her father take the throne. The way she talked and her body language seems to show that she's not fully on board with her father's plan.
In addition, that scene where Elizabeth is dealing with all the nobles with the sound blurring up makes me think that she's not actually comfortable doing this.

まだ分からない人のために言うと、ロメリアは遠征で「お荷物」どころじゃなかった。誰にも感謝されない細かいことを全部やって、パーティーをまとめる「接着剤」だったんじゃないかと思ってたけど、今回で勇者パーティーの言葉にできない何かそのものだったとはっきりした。
ロメリア自身の言葉で言えば、彼らの「加護」だ。
だからこの魔族の将軍が王子との良い勝負を期待してるなら、あのチビにはきっとがっかりするだろうね

And the demon king's brother is here to invade because he wants to fight the person who was strong enough to kill his brother.
Except the Douchey Prince really isn't. We watched the little twerp get bisected by the demon king, healed by the Saintess, and had support from two THREE additional women.
If it wasn't clear already, Romelia was far from "dead weight" on the excursion. I suspected she was the 'glue' that held their party together and did all the little things that no one appreciates, but this episode made it clear she's just that je ne sais quoi of the Hero's party.
Or as Romelia herself put it, their 'grace.'
So, if this Demon General is expecting a good fight from the Prince, he will certainly find the little twerp wanting.

I also love how, after the battle is over and they were doing cleanup, Romelia made sure to bring Rey with her and ordered him to finish off the fleeing demon
Her horse broke the Lesser Demon spine, so that it would be easier for Rey to kill him like he immediately stopped moving. Was also cool how she asked him if he liked animals, then says she does too and proceeds to imply those Demons are less then Animals.
Pretty badass.

I thought it was more like -- even if one sees these as "animals" and one likes animals in general, these are nonetheless dangerous "animals" who are certain to kill humans -- so they must be killed in order to prevent greater harms,

いつもの落ち着いた気品ある姿のまま命令を出したかと思えば、子どもみたいに剣を振り回し始めるロメリアが愛おしい。どっちにしろ、指揮ぶりと臨機応変さは最高だった。
それに、まだ謎だらけでも、兵の前でちょっと間抜けに見えるのを気にしない人だってことは分かったのがいい

It's endearing how Romelia can issue commands while retaining her usual composed and dignified presence before proceeding to flail her sword around like a kid. Either way her display of leadership and adaptability was awesome.
Also love that as much if an enigma she still is, we at least know she's not afraid of looking a little goofy in front of her troops.

この作品は今期一番の最有力候補になった。見せ方も台詞も作画まで、全部に感心してる。この回の前から指揮の才能の片鱗はあったけど、今回で完全に納得させられた。部下を成功できる位置に導いて配置していく。
たぶん一番感心したのはレイの扱い方。2人とも同じ優しさを持ってる気がするけど、彼女はレイから甘さを押し出したかった。それは完全に正しい。あの魔物は民間人を襲ったんだから。動物ならわざとそんなことはしない。それにアルとの会話を見ると、レイは弱いんじゃなくて、ものすごく優しいだけだと分かる。レイがこの先どう成長していくのか楽しみ。
エリザベートの狙いはちょっと読みにくい。だいたい王子と婚約したかったんだろうと思う。父親が王の権力を欲しがってるのは間違いない。この筋がここからどう進むか気になる

This show definitely made my headrunner as AOTS. The presentation, dialogue, and even the animation all have impressed me. There were signs before this episode she had leadership capabilities, but this episode really sold it. Guiding her men putting them into position to succeed.
Probably the most impressive in how she handled Ray. More or less I get the sense the both of them share the same kindness, but she wanted to push the naivety out of Ray. Which is absolutely right because those demons attacked these civilians. This is something no animal would purposely do. Plus seeing the conversation with Al it is clear that Ray isn't weak, but he is immensely kind. It will be interesting for Ray how he progresses throughout the story.
It's a bit difficult to get a read on Elisabeth's intentions. More or less I would assume she wanted to be engaged to the prince. No doubt her father wants the power of the king. Curious how this subplot progresses from this point.

女性向けのファンタジーをあまり見ない人は気づかないかもしれないけど、レイは最初、優しく穏やかな心と少年っぽい美形という、ものすごく典型的な恋愛相手の型で出てくる。言うまでもなく、普通はこんな扱いは受けない。この作品はまたしても、よくあるお約束を出しておいて、もっと面白いことをやってみせたわけだ！

It will be interesting for Ray how he progresses throughout the story.
Viewers who don't watch a lot of female-target demo fantasy might not recognize that Ray initially appears as a very typical romance lead archetype with his kind and gentle heart, and boyish good looks. Goes without saying that this is not how they usually get treated though, and turns out to be yet another common trope the series offered up only to do something more interesting with!

ついにロメリアの正体が分かった。戦いの腕は並以下。その代わり頭脳とバフがある。怖いもの知らずなのは、性格と魔王討伐の経験の両方のせいだろう。兵をちゃんと励ますカリスマはまだ足りない。レイはまだ少し甘くて、初陣で活躍しなきゃと自分を追い込みすぎた。ロメリアはたぶんあのリザードマンと戦うことになる。それにもちろん、王国乗っ取りを企む教会も忘れちゃいけない。問題は、ロメリアがどこかでそれを止めるかどうかだ

We finally see Romelia's deal. She's a mediocre fighter. Instead, she has brains and a buff. She's fearless, likely the result of both personality and experience with the demon lord campaign. She still lacks the charisma to encourage her troops properly. Ray is still somewhat naïve, and placed too much pressure on himself to excel in his first battle. Romelia will likely have to fight that lizardman. And of course, we can't leave out the church conspiring to take over the kingdom, the question will be whether Romelia will stop that at some point.

She still lacks the charisma to encourage her troops properly.
I am not convinced this will change either. Whilst everyone is rightly pointing to her leadership, I think her true role is maybe closer to being an extremely potent catalyst, where she both assembles the necessary ingredients and then expertly guides/nudges/forces them into the right reactions as required.

ある意味、これもこの作品が思慮深い目を向けたお約束の一つだ。「支援役・バフの力を評価されずに勇者パーティーを追放された」ってやつ。
ただここでは、彼女の「力」が評価されないんじゃなくて、信じてたとしても、それが何をしたのか知ることが完全に不可能なんだよね。村の火を消したあの雨は、どのみち降ってたのか、それともロメリアの加護なのか？ 魔物がロメリアの仕掛けた罠に落ちたのはちょっとした幸運なのか、それとも優れた戦術と見事な指揮、十分に鍛えられた兵がそろってただけなのか？
ステータス画面もスキルの仕掛けも冒険者カードも無いのに、ロメリアに特別な天賦の才があるなんて証拠がそもそもあるのか？ それとも観察力と頭の良さと勇気の組み合わせで物事を起こしてるだけなのか？
それに、仮に本当にあって、それが決め手だったとしても、無くなったときに誰か気づくのか？ ただ負けるだけだろう

In some ways, this is yet another trope that the series has turned its thoughtful eye on: "banished from the hero's party because my support role/buff power wasn't appreciated".
Here though, it's not that her "power" isn't appreciated, it's that it's completely impossible to know what it did, even if you believe in it. Would it have started raining to put out those fires in the village anyway, or was it Romelia's Grace? Was it a little bit of good fortune that the demons fell into the strategic traps Romelia set, or was it just a combination of strong tactics, superb battlefield command and her troops being sufficiently trained?
Without stats screens, skill gimmicks and adventurer cards, is there even really any proof that Romelia has a particular divine gift, or is it actually just that she makes things happens because of the combination of her powers of observation, intelligence and courage?
And even if it is actually a thing, and the thing that makes a difference, would anyone else really notice it if it's gone? Instead, you'd just lose.

うわあ、ロメリア容赦ない。甘くしてる暇は無いんだな。レイと腹を割って話すんじゃなく、引っぱり出して恐怖と向き合わせた。できないなら出ていけ、と。迷う兵は自分の軍に置いておけないんだ。
ロメリアの力はちょっとよく分からない。「加護」って正確には何？ 運みたいなもの？ 魔王討伐の一行に加わる前に授かったらしいから、それで彼女の行動もある程度説明がつくけど……具体的にどう働くんだ？ 未来が見えたりするのか？

holy ship, Romelia is brutal, no time for softness. She didn't have a heart to heart with Ray, she plucked him and forced him to face his fears or gtfo, she can't have second guessers in her army.
A bit confused about Romelia's power, what exact is 'grace'? Is it like, luck or something? She got it before joining the band to defeat the demon king, so that kind of explains her actions... but how exactly does it work? Does she get a vision of the future or something?

大軍を持ってるわけじゃないし、魔物はこれからもっと強くなる。質が要るんだ。レイも腹をくくって力にならないといけない。幸い、周りは支えてくれる仲間ばかりだから一人じゃない

She didn't have a heart to heart with Ray, she plucked him and forced him to face his fears or gtfo, she can't have second guessers in her army.
She doesn't exactly have a big army and the demons will only get stronger, she needs quality. Ray will have to soldier forth to contribute. Fortunately, he has nothing but comrades who support him so he's never alone.

具体的なことはそのうち分かるのかも。何でも都合よく転がり込んできて「運」で片付けられる、ご都合主義みたいにはなってほしくないな！

Maybe we will learn the specifics later, i don't want it to turn into deus ex machina type of thing, where things magically fall into her lap and it's hand waved with 'luck'!

3話分を見て、作者はロメリアの「加護」がどういう力か、かなりしっかりした複雑な考えを持ってると思えるようになった。たとえ視聴者にはっきり説明しないと決めたとしても。
今のところ分かってるのはロメリア本人の説明だけ。そしてロメリアについて分かったことがあるとすれば、言葉を惜しむわけじゃないけど、その時々で必要以上のことはめったに言わないってことだ（笑）

With three episodes of content now I feel fairly confident that the author has a fairly strong and complex idea of what Romelia's power of "grace" is, even if they don't decide to ever spell it out for the audience.
All we have so far is Romelia's description of what it is, and if there's anything we've learned about Romelia it's that whilst she's not ungenerous with her words, she also rarely says more than what is needed at any given point in time lol

今回の出来事からすると、加護は自動的に勝たせてくれるわけじゃなく、勝ちやすくなる機会を作るものみたい。しかもその機会を作るのは、作戦を立てるロメリア自身の能力に大きく頼ってるようだ

For what happened in this episode, Grace doesn’t seem to make her win by default but rather create an opportunity that makes victory more likely and it seem to heavily rely on Romelia’s natural ability to create said opportunity with her strategies

たしかに予知に近い知識をもたらしてる気がする。今までの行動は、どれもすごく目的がはっきりしてて、うまくいってる

It certainly feels like it gives some knowledge bordering to foresight. Her actions so far are very goal oriented and successful.

ロメリアには幸運の女神がついてる（敵には不運の女神も）。もともと優れた戦略家なんだから、すごく便利な底上げだ。
兵は経験が浅いかもしれないけど、飲み込みは早い。次の相手はずっと手ごわいから、そうでないと困る。アルも、戦場での彼女を見てあっという間に打ち解けたみたい。仕えるに値する人だと分かった今、彼女に完全な忠誠を誓ったはずだ

Romelia's got Lady Fortune on her side (as well as Lady Misfortune for her enemies). That's quite the handy boost when she's already a brilliant strategist on her own right.
Her troops might be inexperienced but they're quick learners – and they'd need it as their next opponents would be a lot tougher. Seemed like Al's also warmed up to her pretty quickly once he saw her on the field. She surely had his utter loyalty now that he'd seen her as a worthy person to serve.

幸運を最大限生かすには、それが起きる機会を増やすためにできることを全部やることだ。
何もせずにぼーっと待って、ちょっとした不運で限界を越えたときに悪態をつくのとは逆（参考：ヤニねこ）。
誰かに幸運が続くと、人は「すごい、ちょうどいい時にちょうどいい場所にいたんだな」って言う。でも全体を見ると、それは（いつもじゃないけど）たいてい、その人がどういう人で何をしてきたかのおかげなんだよ

the way to make the most of good luck is to do everything you can to maximize the opportunities for it to happen
as opposed to doing nothing and sitting around waiting for it, and then cursing a little bit of bad luck when it pushes you over a tipping point (see: chainsmoker cat)
people will see someone get a good luck streak and say "wow they were really in the right place at the right time" but when you look at the bigger picture, it's often (not always) because of who they are and everything they do

この作品はキャラがすごくいい。ロメリアは率いる力はあるけど、自分では戦えない。何かしら幸運の力を持ってるみたい

The characters are great in this one. Romelia has the ability to lead, but not fight herself. She seems to have some sort of good luck ability.

ロメリアの能力がやっと分かってよかった。怖いもの知らずなのに戦うのは得意じゃないってのも面白い（笑）。でもすごく観察力があるし、軍師なら当然だけど、頭の回転も速い。彼女と彼女の軍が名を上げていくのが楽しみ。
どこまで厳しくなれるかを見られたのも良かった。レイがデーモンキーを1匹も殺してないと分かってて、やらせるために圧をかけた。緊張が伝わってきた。今回、レイとアルの立場が入れ替わったみたいなのも面白い。アルはロメリアに打ち解けたけど、レイは距離を置いてる。
で、エリザベートは何としても王子と婚約しようとしてたわけか。王家の話はまだそんなに出ないと思ってたけど、思ったより大事になりそう。ロメリアがパーティーにいない状態で、魔王の弟が王子を探してるのも面白くなりそう

It was nice to finally learn what Romelia's skill is, and it was interesting to learn she isn't a good combatant, even if she's fearless lol. She's very observant though, and not surprising for a strategist, but she's quick witted too. I'm excited to see her and her army gain renown.

I also did like seeing how strict she can be, she knew Ray didn't kill a single daemonkey, so putting that pressure on him to make him do it, I could feel the tension. It's interesting how Ray and Al's position sort of switched this episode, Al has warmed up to Romelia, but Ray is keeping his distance.

So Elisabeth was trying to find one way or another to get engaged to the Prince. I didn't think we would see too much of the royal family's story just yet, but looks like it'll be more important than I thought. Demon King's brother also looking for the Prince will be interesting without Romelia a part of his party.

この回で特に気に入ったのがそこ。どうして「訓練を1回見た」からいきなり「魔物と戦う」になったのか、その理由が分かった。
「秘伝のSSSランク戦略」とか「一発逆転の技」とか「ロメリアは実は剣の達人」とか、そういうのは一切無かった。加護ですらなかった。加護の効き目は、せいぜい控えめだけど鋭いものみたいだし。
結局、単に兵の腕と訓練を見極めて、あの手の魔物と戦うには十分だと判断しただけだった。
それに、なんとなくだけど、村を守り切るためなら部隊に多少の犠牲が出るのも受け入れるつもりだったんじゃないかと思う。戦争の現実を知ってるし、レイとのあの場面での容赦なさを見るとね

She's very observant though
This is one thing that I particularly loved about this episode in that it revealed why she went straight from "watch one training session" to "battle some demons".
There was no "secret SSS-tier strategy" or "one trick" or "Romelia is a back-up sword-master" or anything of the sort. It wasn't even her Grace, seeing as it seems to have at best subtle but incisive effects.
It was, as it turns out, simply because she assessed their skills and training and recognized them as being sufficient for fighting those particular demons.
I also vaguely get the feeling that she was also willing to accept some loses in her unit in order to successfully protect the village, given her experience with the realities war and how ruthless she was in that scene with Ray.

兵の特訓シーンが無かったのがいい。今回は、はみ出し者扱いなのに訓練は実はすごくしっかりしてたことを強調してた。普通なら、訓練をおろそかにされてきた原石たちがいて、主人公が半話かけて実力を引き出す。でもこの作品は、最初から小さな脅威なら十分に片付けられる強さがあるところから始まる。
それにロメリアの「加護」も自動勝利じゃなかった。兵はよく鍛えられてて、彼女は頭のいい戦略家で、もともとあの小物の魔物とは互角だった。そこへ彼女の力が、たまたま事を楽にする機会を生んだだけ。
でも回の最後に出てきた連中に挑んだら、もう互角に戦える兵がいない限り、あっさり負けるだろうね

It is nice how there was no training montage for the troops. Like this episode emphasized how their training actually was really good despite them being the outcasts. Usually you'd see the diamonds in the rough characters whose training was neglected, and the protagonist has to bring out their prowess for half an episode. But this series starts with them being good enough to effectively handle minor threats.
And Romelia's 'grace' wasn't like an auto win. The soldiers were well trained and she's a smart strategist, they were already a match for these lesser demons. And her power just happened to make an opportunity arise that made things easier.
But if she were to attempt the guys at the end of the episode she'd flat out lose without the troops that can already match them

筋が通ってる。前にいたパーティーでも、後ろに下がってるって責められてたし。指揮官としての資質はあって、今回はそれを見事に描いてた。
レイの扱い方が好き。ためらってちゃだめだと分からせたかった。魔物を殺さなければ、罪のない人の命が奪われかねない。同時に、全員に残りの魔物を片付けろと命じたとき、レイにはわざと住民を助けるよう頼んでた。
そこがすごくいい。あの一対一の会話以上に、レイに無理強いする必要は無いから。戦いから離してやった。それでアルとの会話がさらに良くなってる

I like that Romelia isn't secretly some combat badass, she's even kind of bad at it. But that's not her role, she's more into tactics and strategy and her special skill of apparently being a bit lucky is more targeted at that anyways.
It makes sense because even in the party she was in she got criticized for staying back. She has the capabilities of a leader as this episode did an outstanding job at that.
I like how she handled Ray. She wanted him to know he can't be hesitanting. Not killing demons could cost innocents their lives. At the same time when she ordered everyone to kill the remaining demons she purposely asked him to help civilians.
I really like that because there is no need to force the issue with Ray more than what that 1-on-1 conversation did. Allow him to get away from the battle. It makes the conversation with Al even better.

要するにロメリアは、味方に幸運、敵に不運のバフ・デバフの範囲能力を持ってる。物事をちょっと後押しするだけで、たとえば子どもが一人前の騎士に勝てるようにはならない。何かとっかかりが要る。そこにあるものを使って、小さいけど意味のある後押しをする。つまり、ちょうどいいタイミングで敵が石や水たまりで足を滑らせて、味方が会心の一撃を入れられるとか。味方がちょうどいい時につまずいて、致命傷がかすり傷になるとか。
これは味方の数が多いほど効くみたい。だから彼女がいた魔王討伐パーティーでは、みんなもともと強い精鋭で人数も少なかったから、バフ・デバフがあまり目立たなかった。
ロメリアの加護は、操ったり後押しできる要素の数に比例して強くなるんだろう。TRPGで言えば、少人数のときは小さいけど大事なバフ・デバフ、つまり20面ダイスの+1くらい。でも軍にいたら？ 敵のあらゆる判定に-1、味方のあらゆる判定に+1を強制する。だからどっちの側もダイスを振る回数が多いほど、効果が大きくなる

Basically Romelia has a good luck to her allies and bad luck to her enemies buff/debuff field ability. It nudges things- it wont let a child beat a fully trained knight for example. It needs something to work with. It takes what is there and makes small but meaningful nudges. I.e. a enemy will slip on a rock or a puddle just at the right time to let her ally get in a critical hit. Or a friendly will stumble right at the right time to turn a deadly blow into a glancing hit.
This seems to scale with the more allies she has. So the anti-demon king party she was a part of meant that her buff/debuff field wasnt really noticeable because they were already strong fighters and elite combatants and few in numbers.
Romelia's Grace ability probably scales with the number of factors it can manipulate or nudge. Basically in tabletop game terms when she's in a small group she's basically a minor but important buff/debuff say a +1 on a d20 roll. But if she's in a army? She basically forces a -1 to evsry enemy roll and a +1 to every friendly roll. So the more either side rolls, the greater her effects.

彼女の力がもっと目立って破壊的になる場面も思いつく。たとえば海戦。天候や潮の流れは運次第のところが大きい。大きな戦いではたいてい運が鍵になる。君の言うとおり、小競り合いだと全然目立たないし、一人ひとりの腕次第だから関係ないかもしれない。でも大規模な戦いでは運は大きな要素だ

I also can think of places where her skill will be more pronounced and devastating like in Naval battles where weather, the tides are very luck based. Luck is often the key to many large battles, and as you said in small skirmishes it is definitely not noticeable and it might even not matter because that comes down to the skill of each fighter. But in large piece battles luck is a major factor.

ついに来た。3話かけて、ようやく心の声が一つ聞けて、多くの人が予想してたとおり大きな明かしだった。
明かされた今なら、MALのあらすじももうネタバレじゃない。「……幸運をもたらす『加護』という秘めた力」
そしてまたしても……教会＝悪
まあ、特殊能力が要するに幸運の女神なんだから、この先の戦いはすべて彼女に有利で敵に不利、王様も無傷で切り抜けるに違いない。
2クール楽しめそうだ

Finally. After 3 episodes, we hear a single internal thought and like many have predicted, it's a big reveal.
Now that it's been revealed, the MAL description is no longer a spoiler: "...a secret power called "Grace," which brings her extraordinary luck."
And once again... Church = EVIL
Welp, considering her Special Ability is basically Lady Luck, I have no doubt every battle going forward will be in favor of her and unfavorable for her enemies and the King will come out unscathed.
This is going to be a fun 2 cours.
