This was definitely the best part of today's episode! I really love these moments between Maomao and Jinshi, they're always the best parts of the series for me.

知らない人のために言っとくと、主人公の猫猫の名前は「ネコネコ」って意味（中国語で字を重ねるのは、相手の名前を可愛らしく呼ぶ愛称）。子猫のほうの毛毛（マオマオ）は「毛毛」（毛・ひげ）って意味で、発音は同じだけど声調が違う。日本語の発音でも、日本語なまりなりに猫猫のほうとイントネーションを少し変えてたｗ
Just pointing out for those who don't know, that MaoMao our MC's name means Cat Cat (repetition in Chinese is an endearment, cutesy way of saying someone's name) and the actual kitten's name MaoMao means Fur Fur (hair, whiskers) and has the same pronunciation, different tone. MaoMao's Japanese pronunciation had some of that different intonation just with a Japanese accent lol

『俺だけレベルアップな件』は韓国のウェブ小説・ウェブトゥーンが原作で、英語圏では『Solo Leveling』の題で非常に人気があります。2025年1月はちょうどアニメの第2期が始まった時期で、4chan の /a/ 板にもそのスレッドが大量に立っていました。この書き込みは、薬屋のスレッドがそうした人気作の陰に埋もれてしまうのを嘆いたものです。後半のコメントで、退屈な人にはそちらが合っていると皮肉られているのも同じ事情からです。
