What kind of psychosis brings a 10~12 year old to think like she does? It's a few steps removed from the usual 'child thinks on average rational/stoic adult level' (think of battle shounens where a kid is way more battle hardened than they should be, even in an era of 'murder everyone').

このクールが終わる前だといいな。2000年代のヤンデレに飢えてるんだよ。お隣さんはちょうどいい具合にイカれてて、見てて楽しい。トラウマをようやく片づける、どデカいヤンデレ大暴走が来たら最高。

Hopefully before the end of the season. I feel starved of 00s-era yanderes and Otonari is just the right level of nuts that makes her fun to watch. A big ol' yandere freakout to finally get her trauma worked through would be awesome.

And now it looks like Shizuka might be in danger if Otonari judges her as an obstacle in the way to Sasaki, lol.

雑誌を胴に巻いて刃物を防ぐのは、実は昭和の昔のヤクザや不良がケンカの前にやってた手なんだよ。まともな防弾チョッキが足りてなかった頃には、北朝鮮の不審船を立ち入り検査する海上自衛隊の隊員まで実際にやってた。佐々木がこの技を知ってたのは、正直かなり感心する。

Wrapping magazines around your torso as protection against blade attacks is actually something old-school Showa era yakuza and delinquents used to do before a fight, and it was even practiced by JMSDF ship crew members during inspections of suspicious North Korean vessels back when proper bulletproof vests weren't adequately supplied. I'm pretty impressed that Sasaki actually knew that trick.

衝動で動く変質者1人じゃなくて、3人が息を合わせてた。しかも母親と2人暮らしだって情報まで握ってた。たぶん前からある人身売買の組織だな。誘拐はこれが初めてじゃないはずだ。

Given that it was three guys working in sync rather than a single creep acting on impulse, and that they had enough info on Otonari to know she only lived with her mom, it seems like they're probably part of an established trafficking group. This certainly wasn't the first time they'd kidnapped someone.

自分の読みはこう。母親が『子どもを厄介払いしたい』ってさんざん話してて、それを聞いた客の誰かがこの連中に情報を流した。

My idea was her mother talked about how much she wants to rid the kid that some clients gave info to this group.

キャラと関係の土台を作る、いい描写だった。第1期の佐々木はただの温厚な中年って印象で、それはほぼ合ってる。でも物語が始まる前から『いい人』だったんだよな。雑誌の件も、気づくとうれしい細かさだ。男たちと向き合うと決めた時点で仕込んでたなら、危ない場面への向き合い方と筋が通ってる。

That was a good character/relationship establishment detail. We get the impression that he's just a mild mannered middle-aged man in season 1, and while mostly true, he is a 'good guy' even before the beginning. The magazine thing is also a good detail to notice, if he had prepped that while deciding to confront them it is consistent with how he approaches dangerous situations.

二人静も、自分に興味津々のちっちゃいヤンデレのこと、マジで警戒したほうがいい……

Shizuka should also really worry about the little yandere who’s curious about her…

片方の陣営が使徒を大きく失って、逃げるか死ぬかしたら、重いケガも治るっていうデスゲームの仕組み、面白いな。
それって参加者全員に効くのか、それとも佐々木みたいな『外の』要素だけなのか、気になる。
追記：もうどこかで言われてたらすまん、忘れてた。

Interesting how the death game works with serious injuries once one side sustains a serious loss of disciples and flees/dies.
Wonder if that applies to all players or just "external" factors like Sasaki.

Sasaki really has been her hero for her entire life. That camera and magazine trick showed some amazing foresight.

Oh, great. Not only does does poor neighbor girl have A LOT of mental issues to work through with professionals, she's now also straight on the Yandere path ...

死ぬと思った佐々木が、お隣さんに『幸せに生きてほしい』って言うところも、回想で誘拐犯に刺されたあと、恩返しを受け取らずに言い訳をこしらえて食べ物を渡すところも、笑えるくらい皮肉なんだよな。良くも悪くも『責任ある大人の隣人』としてできることを全部やる、本物のいい人だって分かる。なのに、その優しさこそが、お隣さんのイカれた執着の燃料になってる。

It's so funny and ironic how Sasaki, thinking he was going to die, telling the neighbor "I just want you to live a happy life," or in the flashback scene, after getting stabbed by that kidnapper, turning around and making up excuses to feed her instead of accepting her repayment, shows he's a genuine good guy who, for better or worse, does everything he can as a "responsible adult neighbor." Yet that exact kindness is what fuels her crazy, obsessed feelings for him.

カミナみたいな退場をさせるとは思ってなかった。歪んだ空間が消えるか、ピーちゃんが助けに来るかのどっちかだと思ってたけど、前者だったな。

I don't think they were gonna pull a Kamina. I was just thinking either the distorted time-space will be gone, or Peeps will come to the rescue. Seems it was the former.

『天使と悪魔の代理戦争では、隔離された空間が消えればケガは全部治る（死んでいなければ）』っていうルール、完全に忘れてた。
最初は、佐々木は代理戦争の仕組みの外にいる例外だから、回復の対象から外れると思ってた。その場合は、お隣さんが願いを使って体を元に戻すんだろうなって。

I completely forgot about the rule that "in the proxy war between angels and demons, any injuries get healed when the isolated space disappears (as long as you haven't died)."
Initially, I had suspected that Sasaki would be exempt from the healing since he exists as an outlier to the proxy war system. In that case, I assumed Otonari would have used her wish to restore his body.

I don't remember what Shizuka's curse is, but I assume it's related to her eternal youth? As an old man I'm not sure I'd voluntarily give that away.
It refers to the "anti-aggression curse" that Pi-chan put on Shizuka. The one that eats away at her body every time she thinks or acts out against Sasaki and Eliza. It's also the reason why she's temporarily cooperative to Sasaki.

あー、あの呪いか。完全に忘れてた。解いてもらった瞬間に、ピーちゃんがすぐかけ直したら爆笑もの。

ahhh that curse, i totally forgot about that curse. it'll be hilarious if she gets it cleared and Pii-chan just puts another one immediately on her.

Ahh, yet another S1 detail I completely forgot.

佐々木がもう少し察しがよくて、気が散らないやつだったらと思う。そしたら、お隣の子が実質ホームレスで、送ってもらっても行き場がないって気づけたのに。家から締め出されてるし、母親はろくでもない虐待親だ。
佐々木もさんざん助けてはいるけど、もう少し安全を確保してやれたはず。そしたら、悪魔に頼らずに済んだかもしれない。

I do wish Sasaki was a little more perceptive and less easily distracted so he’d realize the neighbor girl is basically homeless and has nowhere to go when dropped off. She’s locked out of her home and has a worthless, abusive mother. Not that he hasn’t helped her plenty but he could do a little more to provide her safety and maybe she wouldn’t have had to turn to a demon.

とにかく、デスゲームの空間から回復して戻れてよかった。少なくとも、お隣さんと佐々木のあいだは少し整理された。お隣さんも、佐々木が『普通の』仕事じゃないって気づいたしな。
で、お隣さんは二人静が子どもに見えるって？（ほんとはずっと年上なのに）星崎さんに会うまで待ってろ。あっちは真逆だから。

Well I'm glad they made it out of the death game space recovered. And at least now things are slightly cleared up between Otonari and Sasaki, the former now realising that Sasaki doesn't have a "normal" job.
Otonari's thinks Shizuka looks like a child (when in fact she's much older)? Wait till she meets Hoshizaki who is the opposite.

Wasnt expecting more Otonari-san backstory. Were those kidnappers? Again, not expecting that.

Wow it was a lot easier to save him than I thought! I thought for sure P-chan was going to bust into the space to save him.

戦いの場の外は時間が止まってるから、ピーちゃんには佐々木がいなくなったと気づくチャンスすら無かったんじゃない？

Peeps might not have had any opportunity to even know Sasaki was missing, given the time stoppage outside of the fighting arena.

そういうルールなんて、話の都合しだいでピーちゃんが簡単に破れるだろ。ピーちゃんは天才の魔法使いなんだから、たとえば結界を常に張っておくとかさ。

Rules like that can be easily broken by P-chan if the story needs it. P-chan is a brilliant wizard and could have a barrier up at all times for example.

隣の子が、人も天使も平気で殺す悪魔の側でデスゲームに参加してるのに、佐々木はあっさり受け入れすぎだろ。説得してやめさせるとか、そういうのがあると思ってた。

Kind of odd that he so easily accepts that his young neighbor is in a death game on the side of a demon who freely kills people and angels. I would have thought he would try to talk her out of it or something.

それな。魔法を覚えて、異世界に行って、戦争に出て、超能力者とも魔法少女とも戦って、真っ二つにまでされた。本人からすれば、職場のいつもの一日でしかない。

Yep, he has learnt magic, travelled to another world, fought in a war, battled psychics and magical girls, and has been cut in half.
Just another day at the office as far as he is concerned.

いやもう、宇宙人か怪獣が出てくるのを待ってるわ😂

This kitchen sink show continues to throw in some of every genre and trope out there 😂... and I'm still here for it. I wish this show got more love but I'll take what I can get. So many different directions it can go. But what happens when they cross the streams? What if the Magical Girl ends up in the Isekai world? Or psychics vs angels and demons. Or if the demons of our world meet and learn from the demons in the Isekai world? Or what if they're already here running the secret government program that hired on Sasaki to track down aliens and psychics. Heck... now I'm waiting for some aliens or a Kaiju to appear 😂!

it is a proxy war where both sides are murder happy. There is no good or evil side, just your side and the enemy side.

天使が『いい側』だって根拠は、何千年も前のおとぎ話くらいしかない。

Yeah, we don't know why they're even fighting each other, and both sides have no problem killing anyone they suspect of being on the other side, even if they haven't displayed any hostility yet.
So the only basis for saying that the Angel are the "good guy" are a few thousands of years old fairytales.

まあ悪魔側のほうがグロく見えるけど、殺る気満々なのはどっちも同じだ。それに少なくとも、アバドンはお隣さんを救ってる。天使側みたいに、そこらの一般人を巻き込んだわけじゃない。

It probably didn’t go through, but my (?) was supposed to indicate that I was making a joke about the optics.
And yeah, while the demon side looks grosser, they’re all pretty murder-happy. And hey, at least he saved Neighbour-chan instead of dragging random Joes into it like the Angels seemed to have.

自分の理解だと、隔離空間が片付けば、死ぬこと以外は全部リセットされる。まだ死んでなかったから、ケガも元に戻った。

As far as I understand, everything except death resets once a subspace is cleared. since he wasn't dead yet, his injuries were undone.

回復魔法があって助かった！　ちょっとでもズレてたらアウトだった。

Yep, and when the disciples do die, it isn't with the gore intact - I don't think we've seen it yet - but it's kind of ambiguous as to the cause.

主人公補正にも限度がある。ルールが無かったら、話がぬるくなるだけだ。
ピーちゃんは、自分の世界と佐々木の世界で時間がずれる原因も分かってなかった。超能力者や魔法少女のことも知らなかった。
ピーちゃんに時間の魔法はあるのか？　あっても驚かないけど、まだ見てない。

Plot armor only takes you so far. If there aren't any rules the show just becomes tepid.
Peeps didn't seem to know what was causing the time irregularities between his world and Sasaki's. And Peeps also didn't know about psychics or magical girls.
Does Peeps have some time magic? Wouldn't surprise me, but we haven't seen such yet.

つまりさ、はっきりしてる大事なことの一つは、ピーちゃんの魔法があの天使と悪魔の力よりずっと強いってこと。佐々木は魔法の初心者なのに、熾天使とその手下と渡り合えたんだから。佐々木がピンチになったら知らせる魔法を持ってて、天使と悪魔の特別な空間にまで割って入れたとしても、今出てる強さの序列は崩れない。

I mean, one of the main things we know is that Pi's magic is substantially stronger than whatever is going on with those angels and demons, since Sasaki was able to match the seraph and her minions even as a novice. It wouldn't really violate the power scaling they've currently introduced for Pi to have some sort of alert spell that lets him know when Sasaki is in trouble and then intervene even in the angels and demons' special space.

佐々木が現れたのは、悪魔と天使と使徒しか入れない戦いの空間だ。天使たちはアバドンを倒しにまとめて来てたんだから、佐々木を悪魔側の使徒だと思って、あとで味方だと見なしたのは筋が通ってる。
むしろ、悪魔も天使も超能力者のことを知らないのが意外だった。このゲーム、たぶん相当長く続いてるはずなのに。

Sasaki showed up in battle space only accessible to demons, angels and disciples. As the angels traveled together to confront Abaddon it makes sense that they thought that he's a demonic disciple and later that he's an ally.
I am a bit surprised that demons and angels don't even know about psychics. These games are probably going on for a long time.
